I am a PGY1 resident in Vietnam. Glad to know your channel. Simuleye seems pretty good. I wish it and other simulator eye models could be shipped to Vietnam in the future. Right now I use pingpong balls with a 10mm hole and forceps to practice capsulorrrhexis.

Good evening! I loved the use of visco for a clear cornea, we usually do it at my hospital as well with metilcelulose! I use a capsulorhexis forceps with one hand, using the visco canula through the paracentesis to stabilize the eye. I'm trying to use de cystitome for it, but being a left handed surgeon learning with my right hand is a bit slower. But I'll get the hang of it!

I’ve only done capsulorhexis on a pig’s eye as a part of my internship. We have done it with a capsulorhexis forceps and a needle, but I should say I prefer the forceps.

Hey Lorenz! Great review👏👏😊! I usually use a forceps, but in some cases (e.g. too long phaco tunnel or high risk for argentinian flag) I prefer using the needle/cystitome… even though I find using the cystitome much harder😅🙏! Cheers and all the best for your time in 🇨🇦🎉

I use needle for rhexis because I have been used to it since the beginning of my training Have used forceps in very small amount of cases - I couldn't get used to the pivoting that's needed in the main to keep the ac formed... Would love to transition to forceps because something that's done with two hands will always be theoretically superior to something that's done with one hand Regards

For mature cataracts I use a utrata forceps otherwise I use a cystitome !

Hello I am a PGY2 ophthalmology trainee from China. I have not performed phacoemulsification on real patients yet but we normally are trained to use forceps for capsulorhexis. I also practise on grapes with forceps. Hope to win the simulation kit to further train my capsulorhexis skills!
