Getting better at complete cockpit Mixed Reality using SimXR as reviewed in my latest video. This is the last few minutes of the flight landing at KCDC (Cedar City Regional Airport, UT)

Hi from England - You've cracked it Russ! Thanks for sharing your wonderful videos. I can see that you have more than one panel blended and it looks really great. I think also that you have FSRealistic running because of the shaking and creaking which altogether adds to the immersion. I have a matt black instrument panel and a flush to the panel yoke. If you could do that when you get a spare hour or two you will have found flight sim utopia 😊

I went from PC monitors, to VR. Then I stopped VR and went to 3x55” 4k because I did not enjoy not being able to use my cockpit and having to fumble around. THIS pass through looks like the way of the future, once it becomes a bit less fiddly. Just BEAUTIFUL!

Yes, still way to go before it’s easily implemented, but it’s definitely the future for flight training

Thanks for pointing all of these possibilities out. I will give this a try a soon a my pimax crystal light arrives.

Does the light version have passthrough of any quality?

Russ, are you going to do a video on how to set up everything to do this? It looks awesome. Can one develop panels for jets yet? What are the limitations for different aircraft?

This is still a but undeveloped for noobs but master plain old VR using Virtual Desktop and you’ll be ready for Mixed Reality before you know it. virtual Desktop is a bit confusing at first because there are really two computers involved. Your PC and the cpu and operating system on the Quest3. VD will display your PC desktop in windows on the headset and for me it was hard to figure what was doing what. Give it a little time and it will come.

It’s a little work to set up but well worth it once you start flying and you have your hands and controls back while in VR

VR looks like it has come a long way, and pass-through mixed reality solves the last drawback for me. I use X-Plane as a training tool. I have used Air Manager and RealityXP to create a replica of the GA planes that I routinely fly. I see that you use MSFS in all of your recent mixed reality video’s. Can the same results be achieved in XP-12? How about XP-11?

Thanks Ross, really great video. I just posted this comment in your first MR video before I noticed this one. I can no longer afford to fly privately, so the last 2 years have been a dream come true flying with my VR system. It's so close to the real thing its crazy...but not being able to scratch some notes on a pad, or read a chart just drives me nuts. Now...things are getting real. I'm dying to upgrade from my G2 to one of latest headsets and was hoping the new Crystal light was the answer, but it doesn't have pass-thru. So, now I'm thinking the Quest 3, as I want MR more than anything else. In all of the Quest 3 videos I've seen, the MR looks a bit 'wonky'. I don't know if this is what you are seeing inside the headset, or if it's just a video capture problem? Do you find the Quest 3 visuals quality, including MR, pleasing to use and hence would recommend purchase? Or, are you dying for the next evolution? Love your channel!

New Update V66 is said to reduces the image warping seen around your hands.

Is there a limitation on how far you can move your head before the screens get messed up? I mean like can you look back towards the tail of the plane without issue? In circuits this is quite important to see where you are when passing the threshold, I always find my landings in MSFS are worse then real life because of trying to look back with hat switches.
@rbarlow25 күн бұрын
No problem. The pass through panels stay put. If you have then a distance from the panel they are like a window where you can move your head and change the field of view. If the passthrough panel is close to the instrument panel then there is no parallax issue.

@ErickNagyАй бұрын
Is it XP or MSFS? My MSFS will not update the additional displays when in VR. Image is frozen as soon as I switch to VR. Does anybody know if this an expected behavior?
@tubeloobsАй бұрын
This is MSFS
@ErickNagyАй бұрын
@@tubeloobs thanks, I ended up watching the other video he explains the setup. But I need to find out if there is a setting somewhere that is disabling my external monitors update, they either show a frozen image or go black when I switch to VR.

A quick question ... what is the nob in the middle? Also, are you using air manager for the panels?
@rbarlowАй бұрын
Yes it is a Knobster and those are Air Manager touch panels. You touch a knob on the panel and it highlights yellow and then you can use Knobster as if it was that knob or knobs if it is a dual knob… push button too like the G530 knobs.
@chrisvechrysalАй бұрын
Thanks forvthis instructive vudeo with air manager on 2 touch screen with a common knob. But can you let me now your hard ware? Tanks from Aix en provence, France

Hi Russ, do you know if this great software works with DCS maybe ? thanks !
@rbarlow28 күн бұрын
No, it is currently a plug-in for Microsoft flight simulator, but he says he hopes to bring it to X-plane and DCS

That is amazing, until had tracking software comes a long way to the point where we can effortlessly interact with the flight instruments in VR this is the best of both worlds.

want to find out if you can change the outline . that pink has to go. lol
@BassontheRoofАй бұрын
Yeah I saw his old video, he chose the hot pink because he didn't think it'd be a colour that would occur in his room camera too often. Not sure if it would effect stability if you had a dark colour though..

@@rbarlow MR is cool but I wish it looked less janky. Might reduce the immersion but at the same time that might be compensated by the fact that seeing your hands will raise the immersion. What do you think about it?
@rbarlowАй бұрын
@@arcrides6841 maybe I am too old at 71 but please translate “janky”
@melvilibАй бұрын
@@rbarlow WHAT DOES JANKY MEAN? Janky is a slang term for something run down, of poor quality, or unreliable. It can also be used for someone considered undesirable in some way.
