I did research on this acid back in 2005-2006 and we did a lot of work to try and bring it to market for people with chronic wounds. It has really high efficacy and low irritation and doesn't impede wound healing. We ran into problems when it came to producing it in industrial quantities because it reacts with stainless steel. Good to finally see it in mass market products.

thank you for this tidbit about the stainless steel. I had wondered why it wasn't more in use, generally, and that gives some context for why.

I started not too long ago when I learned about HCA and it has been working great. Like if I’m home and not going out I just spray HCA and I don’t smell at all at the end of the day. In the morning when I get ready for work I spray let it dry and then use my deodorant and I feel fresh all day.

My mom had complications after veins surgery on both of her legs. First she had erysepelas, and then came wounds. For 2 year she was on all kinds of antibiotics, creams, otc, nothing helped, lots of money spent to meds and doctors. The wounds were there. Then I have found a research about hypochlorous gel and spray, that combination of those two products is helping with wound healing. She was applying both twice a day.Within 2 months, her wounds were healed!!

I saw one of your videos on this a few years ago and purchased the skin smart brand. at first, it kinda sat there not being really used until I saw you say something about it helping some people's roscea. I started using it for that and it helps calm it (though I thought it was just controlling the mites not calming on its own). I also have used it when allergies spike and I can't seem to get relief for my eyes. Knowing that, once it performs its function, it essentially just becomes salt water/saline, I figured it was safe on my eyes and it has been helpful there, too. As for going forward - I will try it for exercise. I break out in hives with exercise and the misery that comes with that has made it incredibly difficult to keep up anything that makes that flare, lest it goes too far and I have to use my epi-pen. Knowing this could help gives me some power back toward figuring out a routine I can do and keep up with. Thank you so much, Dr Dray! also, can I (we, your audience) have your references? I understand some may be behind paywalls but it would still be appreciated.

I have hidradenitis suppurativa and hypochlorous acid is a game changer for my open wounds. It helps heal them faster and it does help with the itch. It doesn't make the itch completely go away but definitely helps reduce it. I use Vashe which is more expensive but it's a medical product so I feel more comfortable using it. The downside is that it is supposed to be used within 30 days of opening but once the 30 days is up I downgrade it to using it on my face (for acne) and to clean my CPAP equipment.

I've been using this acid for a year, mainly after i shave, solely based on previous research (bc of my asult acne and of my minor fear of getting a staph infection lol). I feel a bit ahead of the curve since it's not something that's being marketed as far as a step in a skin care routine.) but nonetheless thanks for covering and providing a bit more thorough info.

I’ll put some in a continuous spray bottle and fog hotel rooms, I also spray down stuff I bring into my house like deliveries, I clean with it and it’s safe around my cat, use it on my skin, etc. It’s so useful! Grateful to Dr. Dray for introducing me to hypochlorous a few years ago! 🙏

I have sensitive, dry, skin with acne. I got a spray hypochlorous acid about a month ago and used up the whole bottle, I was spraying it a lot. I honestly didn't see any noticeable results, maybe I used it too short of a time though, but it didn't seem like some miracle product like it sounds when people talk about it.

I’m not a medical professional so this is just what I’ve learned from hearing other word of mouth saying something similar to you. What I think is If your acne is related to certain bacteria or yeast (naturally occurring in varying amounts) on your skin, the spray is proven to help reduce those so your skin isn’t experiencing inflammation from these anymore. The reduction in inflammation therefore helps reduce acne if caused by these things it seems. But if there’s no bacteria or yeast bothering your skin, for example if the acne is hormonal, it may not be as effective since the treatment is not appropriate for the cause. But, it may be very helpful to prevent infections if you happen to pick at your skin because of acne, which may help breakouts already present to heal faster. The dryness may come from the salt in the product which has to be there for the formulation to be stable, it’s in every brand for that reason. To counteract that, it may benefit to let it sit on your skin long enough to dry, then the active ingredient is done working and only salt water is left on your skin so you can rinse it off if you want then follow it with moisturizer.

curious about what your thoughts are on benefits of hypochlorous acid vs benefits of these fermented skin care ingredients like what's seen in the SKII essences, as they sort of seem like they have the opposite effects, could hypochlorous acid lead to derangements of normal skin flora or is it a weak enough acid that it isn't something to be too worried about?

It was really informative Doctor Andrea because it's an alternative solution and by far better than the ones we used to believe are beneficial for us aka hydrogen peroxide 😅. It's also quite good to now that not only provides antimicrobial antiseptic anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties but it does not intervene with the wounds healing process and on the contrary it provides a little something as a finishing touch helping out with the scars (helps with the wound's final image 😊). Thanks Doctor Andrea for providing us with useful information on hypoclorous acid (can it also be used on bug bites ? Because it has anti itching Attributes ?). 😊❤
