What features made you choose that mortiser? (That maker and that model).

David, thanks for watching. I have had a lot of prior experience with Powermatic Equipment and overall those experiences have been pretty good. When I decided to get a bench top mortising machine it was pretty much my first choice, but I did shop around a bit. The build quality and the weight of this unit eventually won out. Of course, this was several years ago and I haven't looked at other machines lately, so there may have beed additional innovation since. I would look for column rigidity first and foremost. There is a lot of downforce on the bit and chisel, and any deflection can throw things off, so I like lots of cast iron.
