I have had the same thing happen to me as your date. You handled the situation very well. When this happened to me, I would usually do my best to get my partner off and would offer a raincheck. I have learned over time that I am demisexual and probably a highly sensitive person. While I am happily partnered now, I wish I would have known years ago about why my emotional needs sometimes override my physical needs.
