Bread is an essential part of Turkish meals and is eaten daily, with great conviction. Bread deserves respect and is never wasted. Pide or pide ekmek are the large, round or oval Turkish flatbreads that are generally what gets called Turkish bread outside Turkey. If you order pide in a Turkish restaurant, you usually don’t get a big round bread, but a filled sandwich, or icli pide.
Ingredients:
Plain flour - 500 grams
Salt - 1 tablespoon
Sugar - 1 pinch
Yeast - 2 tablespoons
Warm water - 150 ml
Warm milk - 150 ml
Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
Butter - 1 small cube
Garlic - 1 clove
Parsley - 2 stems
Rosemary - 1 stem
Thyme - 2 stems
Chilli flakes - 1 teaspoon
