Black Hat Bushcraft - Thanks for this video. I really liked the idea of putting the tripod by your hammock. I’ve never even thought of that. It’s little things like that you teach that are invaluable. I’ve been learning a lot from you since I discovered your channel. Some things I already knew that you do just a little differently and other things that mind blowingly simple that I haven’t seen. Most likely because I live in between the Rocky Mountains and the Cascade Mountains in Eastern Washington. A much different type forest environment than the eastern woodlands. Anyway, I really enjoy learning from you and I’ll be watching all your content. Take care & God bless.

I came over here because Cpl. Shawn Kelly suggested it. I keep posting in his videos to get him to try just making the coffee in his pathfinder cup and use the strainer holes on the lid. That's how I do it. I can't stand instant coffee. That works as long as you're ok with drinking black coffee and stay away from that last sip. A suggestion I'd make to you since you like cream in your coffee is "Rocknroll Coffee". Boil the coffee in your pathfinder cup and then when you're done, swing the pot around like the guitarist from The Who, scream out really loud and then sing, "We don't get fooled again!!!" and voila!!! Rocknroll Coffee!!! The force from swinging the pot around by the fish mouth-spreader pushes all the grounds to the bottom. Give it a try. :) Love the videos brother! God bless!

Instead of cream or powdered milk for my hot drinks or hot grain breakfast, I take with me some evaporated milk in a Ziploc round screw-top container. The evaporated milk had stayed good for my three-day camping trips.

Great camp setup; lots of good tips to make life comfortable. For me, 'Bush pot beans' come out of a can of whatever Bush (TM) beans I have with me! They are always cooked to perfection and my 'own' beans baked from dry beans always leave something to be desired. Gevalia makes fine coffee, either ground or whole bean. Your press system looks good.

You made a saw buck for processing your wood. I have watched thousands of bushcraft videos and you hardly ever see that, which I don't understand at all. It makes processing wood so much more efficient and easier on the body. Corporal Kelly ordered me to get over here and sub and bell ASAP. I will not be the one to disobey an order from Corporal Kelly. Subbed and belled. Maybe you should do a short video on the advantages of using a saw buck.

I will be doing my first ever solo camping trip late spring early summer next year mind you it won't be in the bush it will be in a provincial campground close to where I live but I am 50 now and with my physical limitations camping can be a challenge and I want to prove that I can do it still. I have to make some modifications in that yes I will be in a tent but sleeping on a cot (I can no longer get up off the ground without something to pull myself up with) I have picked that time of year as I will still be able to have a fire sad thing though is that with our campground rules here I can't take any deadfall for firewood I have to bring my own in with me. But I will still film a bunch of videos and post them to KZfaq when I get back.

That was a really a good video, thank you. Coffee is also something I really like enjoying in the mornings when I'm camping. Reallybigmonkey1 tested a few different ways of making Bushcraft coffee, he said the best tasting coffee he made out of those was the one where he boiled the coffee in a pan and dribbled cold water into it, which sent the coffee grounds straight to the bottom and he said there were no grounds in his cup. Actually though I'd like to have a French press for the house. Thanks again.

I'm new to your channel and enjoying it very much. Great videos my friend, thanks! I'm wondering if you've ever pre-cooked beans and then dehydrated them? It makes for a very quick meal when you arrive at camp. Simply reconstitute. I love to do this with canned beans and cooked rice. Just add hot water at camp, cover the pot with a foam insulator and let it sit for 10 minutes. Voila!
@blackhatbushcraft

Thank you so much for your kind words and support! I have not tried to dehydrate cooked beans before. I have always just used dry beans and cooked them in camp which of course is a longer process. Thanks for sharing the idea. I appreciate you tuning in and sharing. Take care.

@@blackhatbushcraft So much of the allure for us outdoors fanatics is grounded in learning and that is what drew me to your channel. I highly recommend the acquisition of a dehydrator if you don't already have one. You will not only have a blast creating and learning how to make wonderful meals, you'll have a whole new skill to share with your viewers (like me). My favorite so far is dehydrated beef stroganoff. There are definitely tricks and limitations to what you can do, but learning to dehydrate lean cooked hamburger by rinsing with hot water was a game changer, because it can be incorporated into so many dishes.
