I'm a sixty-one year old guy, and have been riding for forty-two years. I just have to say, that I think it's fantastic to see women out on the road, on their bikes, traveling. You'all are women of spirit. Living a life of being free from oppressive traditions of the past. I encountered an elderly lady, on an old Yamaha Virago 500, when I was traveling through Kansas, on my trip from Atlanta to Salt Lake City. She was from Connecticut, and had ridden all that way. She looked to be in her late 70's. The outside temperature was ninety-seven degrees. OH..... if you could have seen her. Everything strapped to her sissy bar. She was so short, that her saddle was cut down so she could touch the ground. You could barely see her helmet, when approaching from behind. She had long gray hair, that was braided into pigtails, and was wearing a chrome half helmet, and goggles. I passed her, and she smiled this huge beautiful grin and waved at me. Her clothing and her cycle reflected the journey. Both filthy, like those cowboys in the movies of yesterday. Crossing through the country on the way to a promise. I could tell that she was full of life and spirit. If we'd only been in a gas station........ I would have cherished having a conversation with her, and hearing her stories of her travels. I tell you, If there's an "embodied motorcyclist wild-west spirit" , I guarantee she was it. I could tell that by seeing her. The smile on her face, was not one of a woman that was road weary, but drinking in the life of the universe around her. I wanted to hug her, and buy her lunch. You know someone is special, in her own way, when you feel lucky to have just seen her. I'm not afraid to say, she brought a tear of joy to my eyes.

Thank you for these inspiring videos and soon one day I will road trip to the places my father never got to go. Thank you 🙏🏼

KSQ, thanks so much, I really enjoyed your travel series, with the metaphors, and more so the heart and feeling you have for your travels. It's palpable and I know the place in you that it comes from. I share it. For me it's the most real when I'm on a road in a wide open area of Nevada or Wyoming. It's a daunting and yet special feeling. Daunting because it makes me feel like no more than a speck of dust in miles and miles of openness . It's special because I realize that God created it for people who will go there, like you and I did, without the confines of an enclosed automotive shell around us. Willing to be there, in the open, as part of that segment of the universe.... I commented two years ago, and that may have been right after your journey. I'm now sixty-three and will be sixty-four in August, which means that in August it will be 46 years that I've been riding motorcycles. I grew up in central Illinois, and couldn't get my motorcycle endorsement till I turned eighteen. Shortly after I bought my first motorcycle. I was still living at home, and couldn't keep my motorcycle at my parents house because my dad was so against motorcycles. I was going to ride though, and I did. Nearly forty-six year and eleven motorcycles later, I'm still riding, without an accident, and having covered 22 states. I haven't ridden up the eastern seaboard but that's on my bucket list. My longest multi-day trip has been 20 days and 7835 miles. I retired in 2020, and now I wish I'd retired earlier, because there's so many roads and so many places that are part of this grand universal spirit known as America.

An epic journey, and a touching account of your departure from Babes Ride Out. As someone who has also ridden a Dyna solo across a continent and back (Australia, vids on my channel if you're interested:)), I maybe have a shared appreciation of the emotional rollercoaster and the physical toll it takes. But, so very worth it:) Thanks for documenting your journey, both inner and outer. You can be very justifiably proud of your accomplishment. Peace.

Riding alone to get to spend time with like minded people is awsome no matter which side of the pond you're on . Enjoy each moment ,the rain ,the wind on your face . The comfort or that 6inches of saddle as you lay back on your camping gear. Amazing can't wait til August and my own big ride to aviemore Scotland then on to Elgin Inverness Loch ness and Fort William then glencoe and homeward bound . Alone for a time ill remember your journey 🥰

Everything about this series was magical. I love the way you write, and produced it all with the perfect music and editing. A story that you wove together with just the right combination of narrative and pictures, the subtle and the obvious. Sort of an elegant, modern day, Jack Kerouac.

Did some rides from Portland OR to California in years past. Northern CA has some great roads to explore. Not as young as I was so as much as I would like to go traveling I don't want to leave my wife alone for days. I do have a great bike now so the 500 mile trips don't hurt as bad as on my old Speed Triple. I do one 500 mile trip in one day up here. It is the Oregon500 sponsored by a local club. This year we went from Portland to Ellensburg WA and back beautiful roads I had never been on. That is the best thing seeing new places and with a bike you can look around a bit more and see things you miss in a car.

You know it's amazing the miles that roll away when a westerner heads west from way over east . It's beautiful on the east side and everywhere in between, but no matter whether I'm the USA or in Canada when home time comes and the old wheels start rumbling west , the miles just fly away . Mmm , I guess the Sun knows ... Ride

I can relate to the anxiety of traveling long distances and no gas stations. The best I ever did was 190 miles on my 2011 Street Bob. The low fuel warning light was on the last 30 miles. I had less than a half a gallon in the tank when I refueled.

Great set of videos. Big congrats and respects for your journey. All I've ridden are Harley's beginning with a '97 1200 Custom with my most recent being a '17 Road King. I've never been let down by any of them. They get a bad rap because of the low quality during the AMF years in the '70s. You are 100% correct that preventative maintenance is the way to go. Take care of them and they will take care of you.

That was an outstanding 11 days. Love to see people out on the trail bonding with their bike. So where did you stay in Iowa-Nebraska? Love that Wild West stretch thru Wyoming; the wind is no joke, but I love the battle. Unless time is of the essence to get somewhere, I opt to take those quiet, remote old two lane highways so to really enjoy the country, and few 18 wheelers to share the road with. Some times it’s ok to take what backpackers call, a “Zero Day”… meaning when you are tapped, physically, mentally, stay two nights in a town, just to get a day to recharge, maybe some laundry, good food, before you head out again.

Hi, After watching this Epic 3 part series of your trip out to New York and back and after a few short seconds of an emotional choked up feeling. This has inspired me to want to make the trip from the Amador county ( Jackson ) CA area out to Ohio with my fiance in may of 22 possibly on my 2018 Xl1200Ns ( Iron sportster ) to get married. As a former otr truck driver I know what it's like to be blasted by the wrath of this beautiful country and what it has to offer in both weather and scenic views. Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to demonstrate what it's like to travel the 3k miles across the states. Ride safe out there and keep it shiny side up.
