Y'all are forgetting that for Johnny, Kreese was his primary father figure, moreso that his stepdad so of course he has a soft spot for him to give him a second chance. What son wouldn't want to redeem his father even if only a little and no matter how much of a disappointment he is? Once you see it that way everything starts to make sense. Johnny had Kreese as a father and Daniel had Mr. Miyagi, both are products of that upbringing. Daniel had the fortune of having an exemplar example of a father-figure to follow and model his own life after as compared to Johnny who was betrayed by his.

Also: Johnny wants Robby to give him a second chance as a father. So he emphasies with Kreese while the roles are reversed and projects how he would want Robby to act to him.

Sam didn't push Aisha away, she was nice to her and even offered to hang out with her just the two of them but she never defended her against her new friends either and she apologized to her for that in the last season finale. She also never dissed Hawk and Dimitri, she was even mad at Kyler when she saw him bullying them which is part of the reason why they broke up. I assume she hung around Miguel's friends when they started dating.

Pat was so close to getting it, but it went right over his head. He even said “all you care about is your toy!” about this theoretical child. That’s the point haha if the only thing in the world the child cares about is a toy, and you take that toy away, then you can understand why the child would react in a way you’d think is overly dramatic. Doesn’t mean you can’t discipline or have to coddle the child, but it does put some perspective into why a child acts that way.

It's called Parental Guidance for a reason. You try to guide the child, not force them one way or another. Everyone needs to make their own mistakes and learn their own lessons. That's how we become the people we grow up to be. It's the parent's job to give the advice, set boundaries, discipline when necessary, and guide them back on track when they stray, with the main goal that they become better people than you. Forcing kids to become the person we want them to be is a recipe for disaster.

@Zamrod
@Zamrod 5 ай бұрын
@@PSYCHOSTORM32what this argument misses is mostly that generations aren’t homogenous. There was a period of time where a small group of people got together and decided that there was a better way to teach kids, a kinder, gentler, more empathetic way. They had masters degrees in education and were eager to try these new ideas out. So they started doing things like giving out participation trophies. The vast majority of people in that generation didn’t really agree with it or have any say in it really. Heck, most of them didn’t really know it was happening. Those new ideas became so common place that they continued and even expanded. The people raised under those ideas became the new teachers and bought into it 100% meaning that the next generation had the vast majority of them agreeing with it. So yes, technically people from a generation (I’m not even willing to pinpoint the exact generation since it happened over two generations likely) came up with the idea. Also, people from that same generation are complaining about it as well since it wasn’t their idea despite being in the same generation.

The conversation at the end triggered my early childhood development brain i gotta scream into the void a little sorry! But as someone who works w kids, children are literally figuring out how to navigate the world and dealing w information and emotions thats all very new to them and as parents/ guardians/ caretakers its our job to help them understand and guide them to process these things in a healthy manner. Kids dont come out of the womb knowing how to properly react to something that upsets them so obviously its gonna take time for them to figure out how to express their wants or needs but their feelings are very valid they just gotta learn how to properly navigate them. And they are capable of having complex emotions so i never really found the whole "youre just a kid you have no responsibilities or bills to pay u dont know what feeling sad is" thing fair like... they're not just empty vessels that suddenly gain emotions at a certain age. And some kids are nightmares but a lot of the time its probably because they didn't have parents that had the patience, caring, and/ or understanding to help them from the beginning and its also how we end up w nightmare adults! Anyway that was a lot but I could see what Navi and Suraj were trying to say about validating children's feelings but also explaining why certain disciplinary action was needed. Kids need things explained to them to understand. They wont feel satisfied w an adult just saying "because I said so" its gonna make them want to challenge your authority even more or lead to more behavioral issues bc you aren't redirecting them just asserting dominance.

I was born in 1982, and that participation award shit started around when I was partway elementary school. The thought was that kids self-esteem was too low, so you artificially inflate it by making everybody a winner. If you bring valentine's cards to give to someone, you have to buy them for the whole class so no one feels left out. Those who lose get lesser awards for participation. All it does is never teach kids how to deal with losing so they feel entitled to be "winning" when they are not putting in the the effort to do so.

25:30 - As someone who was born in 1980, I can confirm that kids are exactly the same now as they were then. Everyone whines when they lose. That has never changed. I also like how the, "this generation is coddled and soft like never before" argument gets reused every generation. It's so lazy, which is why Kreese says it. He feels like he has no place, so he ignorantly blames the "weaklings" for all of his problems because the problem couldn't possible be HIM and his attitude, which is a wonderfully illogical argument: "I'm a REAL MAN(tm) whose better than all of these snowflakes in everyway! Also, I'm completely unable to do anything to fight against them. Now pity me, and only me!" Or maybe I'm wrong, and I didn't see Kreese's ideal POTUS throw a massive temper tantrum after he lost. Who can say for sure?

You definitely made some great points in your comment. What I find most hilarious about their discussion is that all four of them are doing basically the same thing that Kreese did in the show. Like Navi said something about how politicians nowadays are doing terrible shit because their behavior wasn't corrected as children, and like girl, the average age of American politicals is older than 50 years. Those mfs were raised during the 60s and 70s. I found it so funny that millennials, as they get older, keep recycling the same terrible generational analysis towards younger people. Humans just never change, I guess.

Sam never insulted anyone, she just never strongly defended them at the start, until she did against kyler and she fought kyler first because he did what he did to miguel and his friends before knowing them, and se became friends with miguel's group when she started working with him before dating him. So i don't know if you have a memory issue but yeah you're characterizing her pretty badly.....

30:51 my husband and I are Gen X'ers raising a transgendered paraplegic son. We try to talk to him about his feelings as often as we can, but we don't like to force things down his throat. He's 20 now and a great kid. In his third year of college. We just let him know he can talk to us. Thanks for the great reaction!

This season has some hype seasons despite the slow start. New characters are cool- Tory and Stingray! Miguel struggles to find his identity is a good storyline. Kreese outsmarting Johnny is sad, but gives Johnny great storylines. Also, yes. Every season brings back a new character.

That Johnny/Robby conversation will always piss me off. Robby was honest in his feelings and told his dad straight up that he knows he should forgive him but he's not at that stage yet. Instead of saying something like, "I understand that but just know I'll be here when your ready" or anything to make Robby knows that he cares he just shift to blaming Daniel and calling him a prick. Like are you serious? He always acts like a child and then when someone gives him that same energy he gets in his feelings. Don't be mad at Daniel for doing the job you choose not to do the majority of your life.

Bro what? Daniel literally abandoned Robby, His kids lie to him, and Daniel has a bigger Grudge than johnny ever has?? Daniel is the one training HIS son. When Daniel should be respectively telling him that he needs to mend his relationship with his father? Daniel training Robby for a month doesn’t make him a better man nor Father. Johnny literally made a scrawny kid a Champion.

@@AlmightyBryce fam Daniel literally told Robby at the tournament to make peace with Johnny. When they saw each other and the store he left to give Johnny and Robby the chance to talk. Johnny is the adult who can't act like a man and wants to make shit about himself and how he feels.

If you just say "no fuck you im the adult" thats how you end up with the kids simply not asking you anymore and instead just doing shit behind your back. I always find it hilarious how people say "kids are to coddled these days" as if the shit was better before when it wasn't we went from treating kids like shit or workers because your the adult to over babying them because we saw how fucked up the previous way was

Love the end discussion about parenting and all that. God willing I have kids. I think I'm going to be a great parent, I'm going to be authoritative but also caring in affectionate to their feelings and their own stages in life. Apart from when they're babies and you got to change diapers and wake up in the middle of the night, Raising a child looks fun

That end discussion was hilarious. I liked that ya'll acknowledged how 4 people with no kids really don't understand parenting issues anyway 😂 I know I had some similar opinions before becoming a parent...entirely different perspective when you actually have to raise your own kid(s). It's a wild ride! You do your best and strive to be wise enough to do better whenever you realize you need to change your parenting approach. Glad you're all enjoying this show! Lots of examples of good and terrible parenting lol

14:27 A lot of the conflicts in "Cobra Kai" stem from Sam LaRusso, but the show wants us to feel sorry for her. That's one of the few things about the show that I don't like. The show is too in love with her. She may not be the origin of the conflicts, but she is most definitely the catalyst - and it all happens because of her bad decisions, not because of things she can't control.

A snake hides in the grass before it makes its intentions known, but Kreese kinda did state his intent to Johnny, metaphorically at least. Kreese is brumating, he tried to sell the same ol' shtick to appeal to Johnny's ego and it failed, so then he pulled the emotional manipulation, because Kreese was still Johnny's only proper father figure. Hawk is being mean but I can't deny that Demitri is very much benefitting by proxy of Hawk's successes, he's getting all the perks without any of the work.
