We live in South Central Kansas and our 7 acres is off highway 160 and coyotes are calling back and forth in the evening, in the middle of the night and in the early morning! Yesterday we saw a very young coyote running across the field alone and he was beautiful but he's still a predator!

We put a pair of ducks in our backyard pond and ended up with 33 at one time...but yes they forage in fields and grass for bugs plus the pond bottoms for grit and aquatic bugs. We had one female duck that played with our border collie....the collie would jump into pond and the one duck would stay in pond and play with dog while rest of ducks left pond. The duck would move to other side of pond and quack at the dog until he came close and then dive and come up on other side of pond....they would play until dog wore out....

My cat was attacked by an opossum and it bit him horribly the punctures were deep and painful for him , he laid still for us to treat him. The doctor couldn’t believe how deep the holes were and how it missed vital organs. Needless to say the doctor kept him for a while until he was finally able to come home. Beware those around cats. 🐈‍⬛ and Raccoons are mean to our dog and cats.

Ducks in our area quite naturally forage but don't quite scratch for slugs, bugs, and grubs. Often they lead with thier bills.

When I was trapping hogs I built my own cage with a drop gate. It was a 4x4x10 foot trap. I would put corn in a 2 liter soda bottle. After filling it I pour diesel fuel in the bottle. I still scattered some corn around the trap but tie the one with diesel to the trip line. Each time that I would trap them there were always 2. If you have a harbor freight you can buy a cheap welder for home use. Watch some utube videos on how to weld. The best traps I used chain link fence. I put a bottom and top on my traps. I did catch a neighbors dog and I did turn it loose.

If my cat ever disappeared i would pray you are the one who trapped him at least i would get him back. Lol its crazy that anyone would think your that ruthless and cruel.. ive been watching you for a couple years. Never seen you be cruel or heartless. God bless you and your family.

Ducks do scratch for bugs too. Just fyi, use hot dogs for coyotes, they love them. Use the cheap ones. You should catch them easily with hot dogs. Yep coyote poop with fur in it. Wish those that tell untruths would stop, but I guess it's not in their nature. Just have to pray for them to wake up and stop.

You have cats of your own and take good care of all your pets. If you have predators around, cats can be victims as well. I have had a coyote take off with grown duck. I have also had a coyote come up on my side porch to try to get a turkey roosting on the porch rail, and ran off when I opened the door.

Coyotes are so adaptable we have been seeing some walking around our subdivision and keeping the feral cat pop down.

That's like our neighborhood. When a new person moves in, you have that one neighbor that talks crap about everyone else to the new neighbor so that they can keep this person as a a friend & not share them. But after so long they find out who the bad neighbor is & is ousted out of the equation. 😁.

I actually trap cats in my neighborhood. But we check them for illness and get them fixed, then we rehome them elsewhere.

Dutch, if you have neighbors like mine, they will steal anything they can get their hands on. I am at the Homestead in middle I am the only one that has had their property surveyed. One on the right property has moved my line markers and I say somebody gave her the land I am a 75 year old Lady the man on the left also moved my lines and cut roads on my property. I have tried to get a Surveyor service for over eight years and no one will come because I am a Senior Citizen.everyone is trying to close in on me.

We had a duck raised with our dog. He would bark not quack and when the dog got out the duck followed and flew around Runt (dog). They do take on the persona of the animal they are raised with.

Very interesting video! You would NEVER KILL AN INNOCENT HOUSE CAT. I remember the HUGE Possible BOB CAT VIDEO that you caught & it no way was a house cat! I recall that video a while ago & it was crazzzy. I did not know you are STILL HAVING COYOTE ISSUES! Heck, we see them here in our suburb area of Brea, CA (northern Orange County, CA) Our son chased it away from a neighbor & her little dog & our neighbor was screaming HELP early in the summer last year. The coyote was skin & bones & my son said it ran off when he chased it off with a baseball bat. Our neighbor couldn't believe it. We live around tons of squirrels, stinky skunks & tons of Exotic birds & we've seen eagles have nests at the top of all the beautiful trees we have surrounding us. It's beautiful here & typically safe, but Coyotes really surprised us. Also, seems we are seeing way less possums - and more coyotes. So far, we haven't seen any coyotes since last summer. I'm sorry to hear about your chicken attack. We recently had a bobcat take out our prized rooster, Howard. We saw the bobcat. It's tough having livestock. We contend with bobcats, hawks, foxes, opossums, raccoons, and coyotes. It can be quite the battle.

In areas full of predators, some people will build little structures sturdy enough to be rolled around, big enough that a cat can come in hot and maneuver around outstretched paws, small enough that most predators csnt get in. Then depending they put plenty around. Ive also seen wooden tunnels so the cats can get from the shelters bsck to the house. These dont szve them all, all of the time but gives them a fighting chance.

I watch a lot of mountain men, before they take their traps out and set them they boil them first to keep the scent off and they wear gloves to you might try that, might bring you better luck. I mean that's for the steel traps you set.
