The 1990s were a unique era for video games. Before the advent of indie hits, before battle royales, open-world games, and even FPSes and TPSes, one particular genre reigned supreme. The mascot platformer. While many have come and gone over the years, there was one series in particular that was crucial to the genre's development and eventual explosion in popularity. He goes by many names. The fastest thing alive. The blue blur. However, most know him as none other than Sonic the Hedgehog, Sega's iconic animal mascot that took the industry by storm.
I know, I'm not breaking new ground by discussing this series on my channel. It's been talked about many times before, and many of the things I'm going to say here may be things you've heard before. That being said, I still want to talk about it. Sonic is one of my favorite series, and beyond that, I have several reasons that will become more evident in the later videos I do on this series. So, if you'd like, sit back and relax as I tackle Sonic the Hedgehog, and if you enjoy the ride, I hope to see you again as I talk about the coming games.
