I'm pretty sure it's clear why I love Sonic so much by now. I mean, I've only spent, I don't know, over a collective hour talking about his games recently? This series came out swinging, and in many ways sought to leave an impact on those who played it with aggressive marketing, a cool cast of characters with an engaging world to go along with it, and a continuous escalation of the stakes and setpieces with each game to be released. Many of you may think it's now time to cap off this era of the series with the third game in the trilogy... but we're not quite there yet.
Sonic 3 would, like Sonic 2, experience development troubles. Leaving a year without Sonic would not be the best decision for Sega, who were starting to lose some ground to Nintendo following some questionable decisions. Thankfully, the Japanese Sonic Team, led by Naoto Ohshima in Yuji Naka's absence, had been developing their own follow-up to Sonic the Hedgehog. Originally starting life as a port of that game, it evolved into its own thing. With this game to the rescue, Sega would have an entry to release in-between Sonic 2 and 3 after all, and it was even for an all-new CD-based Genesis addon. However, things wouldn't be all sunshine and rainbows for the company, and little did they know there would be even greater roadblocks to come in the near future...
...Or maybe it wasn't actually that dramatic. I don't know, just roll with it I guess. Sounds cooler that way. Also I'll bet this is gonna get way more views than the other videos because thumbnail lmao
