Agree the Z30 is better than the ZV E10. This is an under represented camera because Sony ties up all the KZfaq influencers.

I have Sony ZV-e10 and haven't encountered any issues so far. Had it for almost a year and still works fine.

I almost got the Sony as my first ever camera, but then decided on the z30, and absolutely love it.

I went for demo show of Nikon, instant love when I held z30 in hand. Actually wanted the z50, but the screen opening position was a real problem and couldn't be overlooked. lol

Thankyou was debating which one to get.

I have the Z30 and for the price point it’s probably the best.

Bought the Z30 over the ZV-10 and whatever the equivalent Canon camera was at the time in November of last year. Loving it. My kit lense is pretty much broken (jammed a 17.5mm, images not as sharp as they used to be and it doesn't autofocus sometimes) so I'm hoping to get the Sigma 17-50 f2.8 soon or the Nikon 17-55 f2.8

I'd say that the ZV-E10 have a better AF, headphone port, catalyst browse to stalibize your videos, all the SLOG and things like that and less overheating in 4K while beeing smaller. The Z30 have better colors, better screen, way better 1080P ( nice for slowmo and 1080P 60fps for action shots ), way better build quality, better kit lenses ( but less lenses overall ), more buttons on the camera ( not like the over simplified ZV line ), faster exposition change, the D-lighting ( often overlooked it's in fact really good both in photo and video ! ) and a better grip ( but that one subjective, people with small hands may prefer the ZV-E10 ). I already have a Z-FC so i don't think i would take a Z30 since they are so close in specs but i'm sure it must be a great camera :)

Thank you for your take on the Sony and the latest Z30 by Nikon; I got a Sony ZV-1F, for my personal preferences, it does the job, I may venture out to a better camera, and Sony has more or less taken a Giant step backwards, removing the Stabilisation to software, called Catylist browser, and called the camera a vloggers cam. For that extra 100.00 I could have at one time gotten the E10, chose not to, and saw vids on the Z30,. if I go get one, one of your posts be upset that I will do a return vid (LMAO!). And that the Nikon, is by far the choice of Camera to get. glad you made the move, down the road I may too.

I too wasn‘t happy with the ZV-E10 and went with the more expensive Sony A6700. Now I‘m very happy.

Do you need to buy a protective filter for Z30? From the looks of it, it doesn't seem good to put a filter on because the lens is retractable but I can't be sure, it's hard to tell from the video

watched full video and i too agree with your points as i want to buy sony zv from long time but not liking that only because of those points what u have said and not great stabilization. Between I want to know which camera quality of 1080p in indoor conditions is best out of two. Is nikon indoor quality of camera is good and how much time the full battery lasting for 1080p video recording and have you got any overheating issues.

Thanks for a great review. I would certainly pick a Nikon Z30 over a ZV-E10. The Z30 is just superior in so many ways. I may buy it bundled with the Z 18-140mm (for dx). Glad you like the Z30 and recommend it.

So then I googled a bit more and found Canon R50 and Nikon Z30 as alternatives. This Nikon Z30 looks promising. I'll search it up some more. It's also cheaper here where I am.

after watching couple comparation video for R50, Z30, and ZV E10 i've decided to get ZV E10 because the recording limit and low light performance is a let down from the other two. i agree that the kit lens is very noisy, kinda brittle and cheaply made but it's good enough for my use case which is recording a long video. before i decided to bought this camera, i used to rent a6600 and the difference in build quality is really huge LOL

To complain about the poor quality of the kit lens may be somewhat misleading. This camera has interchangeable lenses, so if the kit lens quality is only average (which is not a surprise, given the price), then another lens should be purchased. Otherwise, why even buy an interchangeable lens camera in the first place?

I don't have any of those issues with the picture being blurry. Sucks that you had that experience. Image looks pretty good on the nikon. Also you can get definitions on the sony menus as well you just have to hit the delete button.

In Amazon Sony ZVe10 have much much higher rating.. .I using my Sony ZVE10 with gimbal for smooth video and photos incredible quick and amazing sharpness really winner .

Hice lo mismo que tú. Pasé de una ZV E10 a una Nikon Z30 porque hasta tenía que cambiar el color de mis videos porque eran verdes, mala gestión del magenta. Hoy sólo filmo o tomo fotos y no me preocupo de los settings. Maravillosa por donde la mires. Te recomiendo (para subir mucho el nivel aprovechando la Z30) un TTartisans 40 macro, es manual pero vale la pena. Saludos desde Córdoba, Argentina.

Nikon Z30 is known for overheating when filming 4K 30fps video. Only able to get 25-30 minutes. Multiple reports of this. Have you ran into this issue? If not can you do a test? Wondering if they fixed it with a firmware update. That is why I will not buy this camera (unless they fixed it) over the ZVE10.

yeah its shocking how much cheaper the z30 is, i have a zv-e10 and i love it so much and i really like how the third party lens market is huge and very cheap, i got my lens for $180 and my camera body for $525, but if I knew the z30 existed then i totally would've bought one instead! i saw that the z30 is usually around $400 for just the body, which is pretty damn cheap to me, and i see some with the kit lens sell for ~$500 at times, really nice how cheap it is also hate the rolling shutter on my zv-e10, so i pan a lot slower now and have to run everything through gyroflow to stabilize and get rid of the wobbliness, the only thing that i dont think i'd like about the z30 is lack of third party lenses, but i guess an adapter could fix that

It's annoying and disturbing to talk about one camera while showing on-screen another one. Besides, it may too severe to draw general conclusions just based on one device. Many people have the Sony yet have never experienced any of the issues mentioned here

Pretty bad review tbh. Sony ZV-E10 definitely has a touch screen. Maybe this “Zony” you keep mentioning doesn’t because it’s a knockoff but your info is off. Also as far as stock lenses go, both are not great and should be upgrading that regardless.

I must disagree, all the points you made are just not things to considder to buy both of the products. You want a more heavy camera for vlogging? You want a recording limit? You want more exspensive lenses to expand? I had both and i was happy when someone wanted to give me a fair 2nd hand price for the Z30 so i could buy a 2nd ZV-E10 to replace it...

sony uses crappy screens for most of their cheap cameras like 360p resolution and not touch screen. yet no reviewer talks about it. id go for a canon r50 for the modern specs it provides and use efs lenses.
