I read her book so here's a fun fact about this movie. The studio wanted Elvira to be friends with teens in the movie, so they could market towards teen audiences. During auditions, there was a particularly handsome teen who made Cassandra (Elvira)'s jaw drop. So naturally, he didn't get the role. "He was so yummy looking, and Elvira is such a horndog that it'd make no sense for her NOT to go after him." So he was literally TOO good looking for the movie. But they stayed friends for years and even became next door neighbors. That was Brad Pitt. Please read her book, it's phenomenal!

Elvira is so iconic, im glad Cassandra was able to capitalize on looking gorgeous, we can get a sense of how overtly sexy women were seen by how the men casually harass her. I think she was really proactive incorporating that in her comedy and showing what was not acceptable, I’ve watched this since I was like 7, and for a while she almost convinced me I was straight, even not being sexually attracted to her I was always mesmerized by her beauty…

I way I came RUNNING when I saw this. I love watching people discover the queen of Halloween camp that is Elvira/Miss Cassandra Peterson. PS. the homage look is stunning. Also her tattoo was fake for the longest time until she finally committed to getting a real version of it some time ago.

I’m sure someone already said this but Elvira/Casandra Peterson actually wrote all the joke for this movie including all the ones made about her. I always thought this was cool and made her even more of an icon in my eyes.

Cassandra Peterson, in her Elvira character, used to do a 30-40 minute variety show every Halloween season at Knott's Berry Farm's Halloween Haunt, now known as Knott's Scary Farm. She sang, danced, told jokes and even did the tassel twirl. She retired from doing the Knott's show after Halloween 2017. She has been apparently been busier than ever since leaving the Knott's stage.

She actually fronted a rock band that toured through Europe in the 70's. She started her career as a Vegas showgirl. She dated Tom Jones and Elvis. It was Elvis that encouraged her to leave Vegas. She never shows her back because she was badly burned when she was a kid and she still has scars.

I found Elvira a few years ago when I was in high school. Ever since, I've been a fan of hers.

Besides the book and movies, there are 2 CDs and she was doing shows at Knott's Berry Farm in October. The music is most likely NOT something you would want to react to on your channel...especially the Alice Cooper one. They are on KZfaq. I have been a huge Elvira fan since 1981. First started watching her Los Angeles TV show with my dad when I was four years old. As for her name, yeah. Once Elvira became her persona, it became her full stage name. There were only a very few times she was credited with her real name, and that was when she was not playing as the Elvira character, like she's the woman in the bar scene in Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. She was good friends with Paul Reubens even since they met in the early 70's. Also, fun fact in the state of Oregon it is illegal to pump your own gas.

You know what I was thinking would be really cool? If Elvira and Morticia Addams met! I wonder how much sense it would make for them to be somehow related. The closest thing I recall ever getting was in a Halloween episode of Roseanne where Jackie and Crystal thought they were wearing the same costume where actually Jackie was Morticia and Crystal was Elvira (even though her hair was all wrong 😂) or ooh! Better yet, if Morticia, Elvira, Vampira and Lily Munster all met!

I never saw the movie, but did watch the weekly show back in the day. It was on late (10:30 pm maybe) on a weekend night. Maybe saturday, when not much else was on. I loved how she commented and made fun of silly scary bad movies. Good laughs at times, and even if her jokes were corny other times her delivery was fun. She only commented right before the commercial slot for about a minute, so she didn't have much airtime actually, but we'd still come back for more each week.

There have been multiple movie block shows where hosts would do an intro, fill in on the ends of commercial breaks, and maybe do an intermission. For instance, I grew up on USA Up All Night which during various periods was hosted by Caroline Schlittt, Gilbert Godfrey, and then Rhonda Shear. PS: I totally make sure to play Elvira pinball tables in October (even if only digitally).

Elvira, as a character, got her start doing a local TV show, hosting horror films- more or less as is depicted in this film. She was not the first, nor the last, to do that- merely one of the most nationally recognizable! Modern audiences may be familiar with "Mystery Science 3000", or "Riff Tracks." The KZfaq phenomenon of film reactors such as yourself come out of this same tradition: commenting on films as they happen. Here in the Chicago area where I live, we have a long-time TV host named "Svengoolie." Coffins, rubber chickens, catch phrases, sidekicks, the whole bit. The whole phenomenon started with the advent of television in the 1950s. Local TV stations might have someone late at night, showing horror or science fiction films, and making comments and jokes around the commercial breaks. "Vampira" was an early host (though not the first!), whose slinky black dress look was very similar to Elvira's. Maila Nurmi (Vampira) even tried to sue Cassandra Peterson (Elvira) for stealing her look and schtick, but lost that case. It really is too bad there was such bad blood, because they should have been good friends, both inspired by similar source material (namely, the Addams cartoons (not yet made into a TV show in Vampira's time), and Dracula's brides, and general gothic witchiness). If imitation is a form of flattery, then Elvira's look being inspired by (not stolen from) Vampira should have been flattering! Sadly, Maila had a difficult life in many ways. She was a pioneer of her time; she deserved better. But Elvira has had a very successful career! And though her personal life has had its ups and downs, she's still going strong in her 70s, happy and healthy, with a loving partner, still gorgeous, and still as smart as a whip!
