I just made this soup, and it is absolutely delicious. I made the following minor changes; instead of the poppadoms, I added sweet potatoes (just a small amount). I also added in some coconut milk; again not a lot. And lastly I added some lime juice squeezed in at the end. It is the texture that is amazing, as well as the taste of course. I keep a book where I handwrite my favourite recipes in to. This one’s going in the book!

I omitted the poppadoms / croutons and it came out more like a veg curry which I served with rice - Easy and tasty way to use excess parsnips.

I love parsnips, but poppadum 's are difficult to get in Texas, so I'll use potato. The great thing about soups is their simplicity. Even a mediocre cook like me can manage to make something edible!

Oh look, another tv chef on the 'less meat' bandwagon. Just as they have been on the 'we never show you adding salt' bandwagon and the 'animal fat is bad for you' bandwagon. Of course, meat is a wonderful and ecologically sound food - beef eats grass and builds soil while agriculture sprays pesticides and depletes soil, after all - and salt and animal fat turn out to be healthy. Who knew, right? Jaimie, honey, I wish you'd go back to your roots and show us what you can do with the foods you grew up with. Y'know, foods that humans ate before all the pc posturing.
