Fun fact: In the Third movie(I can hear the groans, hear me out) Shrek mentions his own dad used to douse him in gravy as a wash, only to realise he was about to eat him, which is why he ran away and lived by himself, and implies that this is a normal occurence for ogres to eat their own children

Shrek 2 is one of the greatest sequals of all time, no doubt about it, but The Last Wish just went so hard for no reason, especially compared to the first movie, that I genuinely don't know which is the better sequal.

@@anahongow5801 I have many questions about dronkys, 1, are they born live or layed, 2, if donkey doesn't know how "it" happens then how tf did they exist, 3, did they change along side dragon during the spell or what's up with that, 4, why didn't donkey know ANYTHING since he could speak dragon so there is no excuse. I both love and hate their existence.

@@anokartist2352 for real, they create so many questions! Some of my theories are 1. I'd like to think they're laid because the dragon is still a reptile, not mammal? I guess? 2. Donkey is essentially an animal so he may know how it works for animals or just be following his instinct and not connecting two and two. 3. I wonder the same thing and I'm scared of the answer bc wether they changed or not, there would have still been a bunch of babies/eggs inside her body and ooof! unless she'd laid them/given birth before the potion took effect, in which case I think they didn't change 4- At least in the Mexican Spanish dub, Donkey only mentions that his wife has been behaving a bit weird and moody, and implies that either she kicked him out or he ran away to avoid pissing her off further, so it may have been the early stages when even she hadn't noticed she was pregnant? Idk, a lot of it doesn't make sense haha

The references in this movie managed to age pretty well since the jokes still work if you don’t know them. Also the dvd singing competition with Simon Cowell was my favourite thing as a kid because he would only pick himself as the winner.

@@leovk5779 Agreed. And even then I'd argue the bad movies aren't even that bad. Like, I can happily sit down and watch them sometimes if I feel nostalgic. Certainly not as often as Puss in boots 2, KFP or Shrek, but once in a while, sure and I won't be mad about it.

@@leovk5779 Yeah, I feel like people really dunk on Dreamworks when like 90+ percent of their lineup are bangers. Boss Baby was probably the most “Illumination” they got, and there was Trolls too. Shrek 3 was arguably the worst in the franchise, but that still leaves three other outstanding films. The first Puss in Boots was mediocre, but the second one (please go see The Last Wish if you haven’t) is just… *chef’s kiss*… That’s all I’ve got. If you can count on Dreamworks for something, it’s that their sequels are generally an improvement over the first (… Minus Shrek 3).

@@poodlepink9875 and @Victor Graves. Exactly. Even Shrek 3, bad overall, has a few funny moment (I find the depressed Merlin eating rock salad to get back to nature hilarious). Boss baby is weird and nonsensical and has no point, but if you shut down your brain, there are also a few funny scenes, and at least its premise is kinda original. Neither are "peak illumination level shit". And on the other hand, there so many great classical Dreamworks animated movies: the road to eldorado, the prince of Egypt, Kung fu panda, Shrek, chicken run, over the hedge, how to train your dragon, megamind, puss in boots 2, the bad guys.

I just realized something because of how this video was edited. When Prince Charming shows up at the castle he encounters the Big Bad Wolf. I know he looks like a kindly grandma but just bear with me for a sec. When Shrek and Fiona open the door they see Little Red Riding Hood. They both got the wrong house. Castles are just big houses.

In "The World is Not Enough" and "Die Another Day", John Cleese plays Desmond Llewelyn's successor as Q, whom Brosnan refers to as "R" in the former. Technically, John Cleese playing the King *does* make Julie Andrews as the queen "Mrs. Q." 🤯

I'm gonna nerd out here. So you have been warned. But the only thing I can really nitpick is that this movie isn't really shot all that great. And I mean how the framed characters, props etc isn't all that great. And this is because of how it was shot. This was during a time when 16 by 9 TVs really started to become a thing. But most people still had 4 by 3 TVs. So this movie what shot in a way call shoot to protect. Where it was rendered out in 16 by 9, but had a safe area of 4 by 3 where if you cropped it, you didn't lose too much information. Unfortunately because of this, it doesn't really utilise either formats to their full potential. There's empty space in 16 by 9, and 4 by 3 isn't all that great like some visual jokes come a but too late. But that's really it. If that's the biggest criticism I can muster, then I'm really nitpicking. Cause this movie is great
