I love both, but Percy Jackson is better. I like all three main characters more than those in Harry Potter and the author actually cares about his readers. I'm not saying Riordan is flawless, he made many mistakes, some quite significant, but he tries very hard to correct them and improve himself, while Rowling refuses to listen to the groups she's talking about.

Harry Potter is iconic and is a deeper and more complex story than Percy Jackson, but... Percy Jackson is more enjoyable. From the humor and s p a r k l e in the writing to the diversity and inclusion of the characters, Percy Jackson is better in my eyes. Plus, Rick Riordan>JK Rowling that's just fact

While I loved HP when I was younger, now I see how flawed the series is. I like the concept and the world but the execution and some plot lines could have been done much better. I think Harry Potter is a really good series but it isn't as amazing and perfect as many people seem to think. PJ I reread recently (I also read HoO) and I liked it so much more than I did when I was a kid. Even though it probably should be the other way around? I think it's very unique and the characters are so much fun. I don't think there is a character that I really dislike? But both series are very good. I understand why one would speak more to someone than the other (nostalgia and childhood memories could also be a big influence). Especially since my sister prefers HP so I know both sides of the argument.

In book 1 Grover warned Percy and his mom about the Minotaur, book 2 he helped Percy find the Golden Fleece using the Empathy Link, book 3 he finds and protects Nico and Bianca from the Manticore so Percy Annabeth and Thalia can help take them to camp, book 4 he uses the power of Pan to scare an enemy army into retreating, and in book 5 he opens the Door of Orpheus by playing his pipes so Percy can take a dip in the River Styx and become indestructible like Achilles. That’s just one example for every book, there’s probably more

But I totally can’t choose...for me like the character development and just the connection we have with the Percy Jackson characters is amazhang. While in Harry Potter, I really loved the world building and the complexity. I seriously cannot choose. But Percy Jackson deserves more and is just AS good as a Harry Potter in every way.

Percy Jackson defeated gods. Harry Potter defeated a cult. Also, Percy Jackson acknowledges that problems aren't going to go away. Monsters are those problems and they are going to keep coming back and that's okay because there are always going to be people there to help. Also the Harry Potter story line kinda falls through, I love the idea but in an entire WORLD of magic there is only one evil? And its a nose less guy guy who is discriminatory? We have those in the real world. There was so much opportunity that was honestly kind of wasted. Also, what teacher sends a kid back to an abusive house hold? Like bro...come on

First of Percy Jackson fan all the way. Dont get me wrong I enjoyed Harry Potter but I never felt a strong connection to it and I think it's because of how diversity functions in the books. In HP it seemed like she would squeeze in the diversity after the fact or as an after thought. But in Percy Jackson the diversity was an integral part and it was woven into the story so well. It's like hello here is the well thought out character who is also these things. Every character was relatable in their own way and even with our differences I still felt connected to them but I never felt that in HP.

I love both. Their books and musicals are both great, but Harry Potter takes the cake for me. The series was my childhood. It was a world of imagination and magic, that also included a complex plot, detailed characters and world building, with elements of humor, joy, and sadness that can make you both laugh and cry. From the first paragraph, I was hooked. Although I will admit that Riordan is a better person than Rowling.

Percy Jackson takes the cake for diversity, but Harry Potter is better overall to me, as it’s my whole childhood and I’ve loved it for forever. Like I’ve read Percy Jackson all the way through, but Harry Potter was my personal favorite. It’s world building really brought you to Hogwarts and all of the other magical places, and always left me full of wonder about the universe. Harry Potter is amazing to, and it’s great that the community is discovering many ways to separate the content from TERF that is the creator. Like I don’t support JK Rowling anymore, buying merchandise secondhand or fan-made merchandise, and I condone that other Harry Potter fans do the same. Percy Jackson followed the same formula at the beginning for sure, but it definitely expanded upon in its own way. Also The Lightning Thief Musical was much better than The Cursed Child, in my opinion. Like this is my (very biased) opinion as Harry Potter was probably my first huge obsession, which still carries on to this day.

I took the test and it said I was a daughter of Poseidon (which makes sense cuz I live next to the ocean and I love going to Hawaii) but I’m kinda a self proclaimed daughter/descendant of Apollo cuz my parents are doctors, I have a weird obsession with archery, and I like singing and play piano. But I’m a hunter of Artemis 🙃

In my opinion, Harry Potter is better in terms of setting and themes, especially if we're just talking about the original main series. However Percy Jackson has better characters, and the writing is more engaging. Percy Jackson also does get deeper and more complex as the series continue, and the world building is just fantastic because of how much Rick has written about it, so for that reason Percy Jackson solidly wins for me. Also the obvious Rick Riordan >> JK Rowling.

I love both and Percy Jackson has more diversity but Harry Potter is better, Camp Half-Blood could never compete with the magic of Hogwarts, and the franchise is just so popular at this point Harry Potter is a classic in media and pop culture (also, while books don’t have age restrictions, the Percy Jackson books are targeted towards younger readers, especially the first series, whereas Harry Potter is timeless) No hate whatsoever if you prefer Percy Jackson, and Rick Riordan is far better than JK Rowling, but Harry Potter is my childhood so I feel pretty strongly about it

Well to me it’s more of Hogwarts was the place you wanted to be. You wanted to visit the Wizarding World. I still wanted to go to Camp Half but the Wizarding World was magical (no pun intended). But Harry, Hermione and Ron don’t feel like real people. Like at all. They felt like characters in a story and it kinda took me out of the world. Percy, Annabeth and Grover felt so much more real. I wanted to go on adventures with them. They felt like real twelve year olds. I found all of them charming. And I got attached to them really quickly. Rick clearly put a lot of effort into writing them. And I think that’s where people differ. But Stan Rick because Rowling is transphobic.

That's because Harry Potter was intended to be one series so the story aged up with each book. Percy Jackson was the first series and intended for children. Heroes of Olympus and the others are more mature.

Heroes Of Olympus and Trials Of Apollo are my favorite series, the characters feel like they could be real people with meaningful well done (and usually tragic) backstories, character flaws, I learned something from almost every character, the relationships all made sense and not all of them lasted forever just like in real life, the character deaths mean something and have lasting consequences! As a fan of both, Harry Potter AND Percy Jackson, no Harry Potter fan would deny the fact that J.K Rowling did not over wrote her stories, and definitely no PJO fan would EVER stand up for the movies. We all know they were painfully inaccurate. :P But other than that i did enjoy the drama between the two fandoms.

i think a lot of stuff from the harry potter books and the author are really problematic. i loved it when i was younger and i still kinda do but there's so much fat shaming, literally no diversity and way to little female representation while jk is pretending to be a feminist. plus, i just prefer the writing, the characters and the plot in percy jackson. i'm not going to try to defend the peter johnson films, we neither speak about nor support them. rick is superior to jk of course

Long paragraph of a random persons opinion, you don't have to read lol I like both pretty equally, they both act as a good escape for me, and I fell in love with all the characters, but J.K Rowling just irritates the utter crap out of me, and Rick Riordan was a lot better when people pointed out the lack of diversity in his first series (I mean there was what one black character, and he died) he didn't tweet trying to squeeze in representation, he took it upon himself to deliver that representation, and I really appreciated that. With the Harry Potter fandom overall in my experience, it's surprisingly less toxic and people accept all sorts of headcanons, and we kinda took it upon ourselves to create the characters in our image like for me I interpret Harry as bisexual, Remus and Sirius dated at Hogwarts, Tonks is genderfluid, Hermione is black...ect. I think both fandoms have their ups and downs but overall they're both great.

I can see that Rick Riordan is way better than J.K.Rowling, but I think you have to put The Books on the one side and the Autor on the other side. Just because you don't like a book doesn't means that the author is bad, and just because you don't like a author it doesn't means that the books are bad.
