A brief history of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants, part 2, exploring minor powers. Based in the Universe of Star Trek, created by Gene Roddenberry.
**Please be aware, this video series is based on Alpha Canon, that is to say, all Star Trek TV Shows and Films. Books, games and comics will generally not be used, though some minor crossover will occur from time to time. Although Star Trek: The Animated Series, is technically not canon, more and more people are starting to accept it, and so this channel will consider it canon except where it contradicts the other shows or movies.

Thanks for another great video. I have one questions which I've never seem to find an answer to in all my years of trek. Why in most galactic maps is there a large region of Federation space in the far reaches of the Beta Quadrant and split from the Alpha by the Romulan and Klingon empires? Surely they federation wouldn't be able to defend this region and it would have been attack many time during the history of trek? What am I missing and any links to source material on this would be great. Thanks in advance.

It is the edge of Federation space, where Kirk and others have explored. And they can defend themselves, they have plenty of Federation starships and bases. However it is not as well defended or easy to get too as the most of Federation space, so they do get attacked more then other places. During the Dominion War, they constantly attacked and targeted these far away areas because it was harder for the Federation to defend. Hope this answers your question.

@@CivilizationEx thanks, I figured it would be Kirk era. The 2nd signal received by Discovery in season 2 was in the far edge of beta and they found humans there. My head canon tells me Kirk was out there chasing this up. A short video on this region would be great, I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd like to know more info, if it exists. Anyway thanks for all your vids and work.
