You are Hierarch Artanis, leader of the mighty protoss race. Years ago, your homeworld of Aiur fell to the merciless zerg Swarm. "Reavers, again...throwback to StarCraft 1. It's a very slow robot." Well, we can see from the video that the Reavers are actually moving at a pretty decent pace. It looks like they're as fast as a Marine.

in sc1 they were OP as shit, they would fire once and kill like 5 hydras if you had them bunched up

@@andreidinescu1045 in sc1 the shots were also using the unit ai that everything else was using so.... depending on ur RNG it could actually do either a ton of damage or no damage

Their weakness aren't the movement speed but their giant frame with make them struck. Same problem as Dragoons.

Funnily enough Photon Cannons used to be mobile in the development of StarCraft. They could phase out, disabling their weapon but allowing them to move to another area. This new type of Photon Cannon was the reason why they got heavily visually redesigned from StarCraft 1, but by SC2's release they acted the exact same way as in SC1 so that was pointless.

They don't have medics because they cannot regenerate their own flesh (hence the dragoons and immortals). The humans can artificially grow human tissue, and the zero naturally develop tissue while on creep.

There is in fact not a single cloaked enemy unit throughout all of Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void's campaigns - hostile zerg might have some burrowed stuff, but no hostile Lurkers, so not a threat that requires detection. You have no mobile detection in either campaigns, and Overseers are absent as well. A curious decision, honestly.

The Centurion's charge also allows you to pass through friendlies unlike the others which is quite useful. Somewhat mentioned, but not emphasized as it should, the Annihilator's shadow cannon can hit air units when normally immortals are at a loss against them. Arbiter has a smaller cloak range than say the older motherships, but you can multiples of them. The Adepts do do bonus damage to those the shades pass through, so you can shade and move them around to get the bonus damage and cancel the teleport. Also, new High Templar can actually attack ground units with a fairly far range, which is a new feature for them. Means they can sit behind more units and attack to be useful even when out of energy.

Dmg barrier of the Aiur faction Immortal absorbs 200 dmg. Adepts are useful for mission which you need to kill sth heavily guarded quickly. Shade in, drop deploy Fenix and let 25 adepts kill the thing, Shade out. Otherwise pretty good stuff.

With a big fleet of void rays u can literally sweep every single thing on you path, I make one fleet of 17-20 of this bad boys and I literally just push the enemy unist without mercy, the most bigger and strong enemy unist just explode in 2 seconds

IIRC in campaign the Adept's shade will also make enemy units it passes through take more damage (not sure in general or just from the Adept's attack).

+xLetalis yep, it applies a debuff that increases all damage taken by 5 per hit, for 5 seconds. this includes damage from stuff like colossus fire or psi storms. tricky to use, but you can have the shade follow a unit to keep re-applying the debuff and combine with rapid attacking units

I think instead of the arbiter there sould be the scout and the arbiter should be in another section called supprort starship or something which has arbiter, oracle, and something made up (or maybe a warp prism)

DPS calculations tell me that the Dragoon deals less damage over time to non-armored units than stalkers.

The reaver was even slower in Starcraft 1. To make it useull it was carried around by shuttles wich were faster than warpprisms when upgraded. They were shocktroops or used to raid workerlines.

You forgot to mention that the Adept's Shade will cause enemies touched by the Shade to receive extra damage (although the StarCraft Wiki doesn't mention this for some reason...). It can be useful if you're not afraid of your Adepts dying. The Phoenixes and Mirages are also different from multiplayer in that they aren't inactive when casting graviton beam and cast it automatically. Just send in your Phoenixes and Mirages and they're on their merry way, which makes the ability about 10x more useful. And Reavers aren't very slow anymore. They can move with the player's army pretty comfortably. Also, the increased range that Havocs emit is awesome. It makes Robotic Siege units even more powerful, able to attack from a great distance.

17:02 The way this unit attacks, seems quite similar to a mutalisk as each attack jumps to another target and does less damage with each jump.

The only person I've seen that uses Energizers in conjunction with the Pylon Field buff to units is Yogscast Rythian, that tactic seems so good but like almost nobody uses it.

hmm we don't really have much Tal'Darim influence on the multiplayer units do we? Unless you count the force fields on the Sentries Also interesting how Karax in Coop mode ended up with the Shadow Volley on his immortals. I play him just for that xD

I wish Blizzard would have redone all the Starcraft 1 and Broodwar campaigns for this last Legacy of the Void campaign. It would have been nice to have an option to play a Starcraft 1 unit multiplayer mode.

1. Melee warrior - Aiur Zealot is all-round powerful, An powerful upgrade version of normie. Quite useful but lacking survivability need some support. [Some sentry and guardian shell help these guys a lot and more Beyblade] - Nerizim Centurion is a niche, Stun is very good but lack mean to deal damage by itself and easily died by other non-stunting units. [I like to use him at early stage but LOTV doesn't has unit upgrade like co-op so these guys are less useful against Hybrid and void] - Purifier Sentinel is a tank and lane stalling, He has two life mean he is a good meatshield for other and can stalling the lane is the best. [I usually put 2-3 of these guy to defend the base with shield battery and guardian shield hold my base very well. When I attack I trains them as 7 - 8 at most for stalling and use range units to destroy enemy] **Zealot beyblade can pass through enemy somehow a micro can deal insane damage/Centurion boi for micro but lacks damage/Sentinel stalls at all cost

2. Ranged warrior - Aiur Dragoon is a tank but lack versatile, He need many unit to support him to shrine or his giant frame will turn our units to SC1 pathfinder will block other unit and reduce it usefulness. [He needs Energizer speed buff and Vanguard to actual fight well and he lacking dps against light armor dps enemy] - Nerazim Stalker, These guy gain a lot of love. If he has more damage like the co-op and versus. No one will play Dragoon. [He can deal any situation, even without support because it agile and survivability through shield regen-blink] - Purifier Adept is the worst, low mineral cost but slow attack speed and it slight more hp and shield doesn't help for her to remove Mutalisks and Marines (Once I used her as support. She did a very bad job, Can't support frontline and deal baby damage to air with Mutalisks and Guardians kill all of them in no time). The transfer lacking versatile of the Stalker so hard to actual use in campaign. even co-op remove this as well [Blizzard remove her bounce attack for the pretend of "micro" and doesn't give this bounce in Campaigns or normal co-op, So her usefulness is not worth it] **Dragoon can be the greatest force if we place them correctly/Nerazim deal low daamge compare to other but it can survive longer and doesn't eat space/Adept why is it here (This doesn't mean she is actually weak or useless but herfulfulness is limit. Compare to Stalker who can use in all type of situation or Dragoon who deals simple high damage....Adept isn't useful during final stage and need ability micro for actual combat advantage with doesn't help much if you have other unit to do the job)

3. Robotic Assault - Aiur Immortal is the tankiest unit in term of cost-efficiency, I uses these guy as second frontline. [He lacks proper dps, Put Dragoon or siege robotic behind him and use attack speed buff can solve the problem] - Nerazim Annihilator is another niche, He loses barrier for mini-yamato cannon. But the cooldown is too long to use frequency and he likely dies before the second shot. [Anti-all cannon is useful but it is lacking the steadfast of normal immortal of dedicated to ground-armour like the vanguard reduced his usefulness in many situation. even assault the enemy structure has less damage than vanguard.......Even anti-air has void ray and corsair] - Tal'darim Vanguard is the beast, Highest damage against a group of enemy, even has the lowest attack speed but has better range and spread damage. If use speedbuff he can one-on-one Ultralisk [His weakness is he need a lot of tank units so he can't misfire but he is the best when fire with large army like the end video....He lacks versatility] **Immortal is normal way with increase its longetivity for more damage/Annihilator need a lot of micro and powerful frontline but if do He is one of the best snipe unit/Vanguard, Not many units can survive first salvo from a group of them

4. Cloaked Warrior - Nerazim Dark Templar is a very powerful damage dealer with very friendlier for beginner and skilled. [invaluable warp attack is powerful but this clock units are fragile so Corsairs help him to survive for another warp attack and for high damage slash]. - Aiur Avenger is a clock version of sentinel base defender. He is good for defensive than attack enemy base. Build Dark shrine and shield battery in enemy assault pattern is the best way to use him. [Protoss Campaign doesn't has transport. So usually playstyle is to lay waste anything on player path instead of base snipe by normal ground units] - Tal'darim Blood hunter is very useful but will depend on player situation. [He can seal enemy but sadly can't attack, If the game make the sealed units can be attack but has the lowest aggro or must click attack. This will make him very powerful in all term] **DT,Doesn't know how to play? A lot of DTs and strong front can clear objective very easily/Avenger a normie way to play DT which give us a secnd chance/BH for stalling dangerous units skilled play will not use autocast

5. Robotic support - Aiur Sentry is ........ I don't like to use it. Because it was the defensive support rather than assaults' support. So I trains other robotic support to help my army to deal highest damage possible for survivability instead of steadfast far too long. [Protoss can't heal their HP in many normal situation. So I wait for Carrier to fix them-up and use Guardian shell to prolong their life. I don't waste too many gas in early game for shield healer. We already has shield battery.....And higher difficult AI trend to attack it first while heal shield. So I waste a lot of gas for this] - Purifier Energizer is da best. Nothing is better than attack and movement speed buff. This mean it will help many high attack but slow attack speed to deal very high dps and the buff itself use nearly neglect any energy consumption. A small number of Energizer can buff entire army to become the engine of destruction. [He can help warp-in units so he can fill frontline in short time but beware of wasting resource] - Tal'darim Havoc is another best support. His role is contrast to Energizer. If the latter allows endgame strike. Havoc is very good for sniping anything before enemy can retaliate. Damage buff and Range buff help range unit greatly. [He helps defend the base more easily and very good in final mission] **Sentry is very useful but the higher the difficult the harder they can be useful (Banshee can destroy Sentry in 2 shots)/Puriflier is simply how to destroy enemy as fast as possible but units survival depend on how fast we destroy enemy/Havoc an good upgrade for range army and debuff enemy(need some micro)

Heads up, the 'auir' units are the Khalai, Auir isnt a spefic faction as all protoss consider there spiritual home, Spare the taldareem who are just Angry and Angsty

i have found to like the energizer for the mechanical support and leaning twords the carrier for the capital ship i just cant choose for the mechanical siege ill just probably do the classic colossus

Vanguards, 1 energizer, Avanger. Destroys any hybrid in seconds xD. I couldn't beat final mission on brutal other way than early turrets into voidrays + corsairs

RisenGuide vanguards do the most damage normally and they do splash damage. Annihilators are ok until you get vanguards. Dark templar are actually also a must have because the shadow dance is just broken op.the mother ship is only good in the last mission for those annoying flanking ships. It wipes them out so fast and it can blink around. Sentinels are perfect because the role of a zealot is really just to take damage. Centuriens is what i equip until i get sentinels. With the colosus its kinda a must have but no. The reaver is similar and the wrath walker is bad. The only reason i chose dark archon is mind control. The dragoon is the simplest to use more range and health. Energiezers are freakin pylons and they are just op with their energize abilty. They are simple. The sentry is boring the havoc is all right. Tempests are really a no for me. Carries are just rapid fire.

HyperNova 200 avengers are much better than dark templar. Would you choose limited damage or infinite? Specially knowing that most LotV missions arent time-limited

+Cody Craft You can use some of them, not every one of them got ported there and what you can actually use depends on your commander. There are three Protoss commanders. - Artanis gets Whirlwind Zealot, Dragoon, High Templar, Double-Graviton Phoenix, Tempest and Barrier Immortal. - Vorazun gets Stun Zealot, Stalker, Area Damage AND Disable Unit Dark Templar (Not two types, just one DT with both spells), Dark Archon, Corsair and Void Ray. - Karax gets Revive Zealot, Speed Boost/Power Field Sentry, Phasing Armor Phoenix, Carrier and the Immortal with the active single target damage. They can also do some extra stuff that these units couldn't do in the campaign: - Artanis'; Archons merged from High Templar can use Psionic Storm and Feedback unlike normal Archons or the one in the campaign. - Vorazun's Corsairs can be upgraded to be permanently cloacked. - Vorazun's Dark Templar have double shields. - Vorzaun's Dark Templar can be upgraded to also have Blink like Stalkers. - Karax's Sentry can take control of enemy mechanical units for 120 seconds after which they die.

Nope. If you choose dark archon, there will be no high templar for you to train, and so you can't have regular archon and dark archon at the same time.

Argon Hammer Okay, I got it. The answer is still no. The enhanced Dark Templars(every original unit of each category get enhanced if you don't choose other factions' variants) have aoe ability instead of archon ability. Only High Templars can merge into a Archon.

You left something out about the normal Zealot. When Whirlwind is on cooldown, all the Zealot has is a pathetic single-hit psi-blade. That's right. Zealots deal half the normal damage as they do in ladder when they don't have whirlwind.

No offense but how can you call the OG Dragoon's as "stalkers from previous versions of SC2", these guys are iconic units from SC1 and many remember them fondly, I'm sure their model was used when they were designing the stalker but to just say that they were the stalkers just hurts.

He means they act like Stalkers from earlier versions of StarCraft 2, i.e. since the beginning of SC2, before LotV introduced Dragoons into SC2. There are gonna be people here who don't know the first game well despite having played the second game, so being told that Dragoons are comparable to Stalkers helps them visualize what they play like because they know Stalkers more than they know Dragoons. He mentions the origin of Dragoons later on anyway.

Void Rays/Destroyers seem to fulfill the role of core star fighter, in my opinion. And then the Phoenix, Mirage, and Corsair are literally under the "starfighter" category.

oh wow, you don't even know the back story behind dragoon or the dark archon, or any of the classic starcraft units. dragoon are not just a slow version of the stalker, it is a unit that brought back memories from the old days of starcraft 1 and brood war. kids these days, sigh.

And what is problem?when i started to play sc2 is didn"t knew the lore of sc1 but that was obvious.Mengsk left kerrigan,she became zerg,raynor wants revenge.in sc1 almost all those characters died.you dont need sc1 lore to play sc2

Well, do you also know that: 1. Dark Archons can't attack in SC1, and they can do Maelstorm, Mind Control (150 energy), and Feedback, which is much more weaker than Vorazun's Dark Archon. Vorazun's DA can mind control at 100 energy and have an energy reserve of 200, meaning they can mind control two units at a time, confuse is like a weaker version of mind control, and they can attack like a normal Archon. 2. Arbiter was like the Mothership back in SC1, they can cloak units and Mass Recall. 3. Reaver can kill friendlies. 4. The reason why it is called a Warp Prism because Shuttle can now deploy and have a mini power field so you can warp in units, which in itself is a new Protoss ways of play. In SC1 Warp Gate doesn't exist. 5. Corsair never changed from SC1, that is good. But there was a time back in the early versions of SC1, Corsair's Disruption Web lasted an eternity, like maybe around 10 minutes. Now it is only 10 seconds. 6. Scouts' ground attack is weak, yes, but it is actually a weak AOE damage. If you have a LOT of Scouts, you an obliterate everything on the ground with ease. 7. Starcraft 1 was a game many people enjoyed, and a popular esport in South Korea and still is today, SC2 was nothing compared to SC1, because it was designed by Dustin Browder, who used to work on C&C Red Alert 2, and C&C Generals. In fact, the no units selection limit was C&C's way to play. SC2 can be viewed as a spiritual successor to the now dead Command & Conquer series, and there are a lot of SC2 in-game mechanics that were similar to the old C&C games. But kids nowadays are too young to even know what C&C was all about. I suggest you play Starcraft: Remastered when it comes out so you can truly experience what it was like back in SC1.

The Dragoons really are a terrible unit on Hard and Brutal modes. They are too slow and too big, so they don't collapse well. They just end up dying without doing anything. Never use!

i want to point out something here. the game has been out for a month and still no difference in the gameplay. while i do praise Blizzard for making new changes to keep the game fresh and also more appealing to the professional players. but here is my porblem, the game is way too fast. i mean, literally it is so fast, that it looks more like twitch gameplay instead of actual strategy. minerals are being harvested too fast. units are dying left and right. and attacks happen too fast that i do not have the enough time to react the right way. seriously, am i the only one who sees this? and please, dont tell me that i am a noob or not professional. yes, the professional sc2 gamer may not notice this because he got used to it, but i am not a professional, since that gives the description that i am a casual gamer. fine. but it is does not mean that i cannot even enjoy the game or think properly when the game mechanics are too damn fast that i cannot even think straight and do moves just out of sheer panic instead of thinking ahead of what to do. like i feel like i was put in COD game with a bird's eye view. Seriously, I really want Blizzard to fix this and balance it out. yes, i know it will take time but i really, really want Blizzard to fix this. i really don't want my most favourite RTS to become fucked up and just another product for a quick cash grab like my gaming companies are doing nowadays. i really dont want one of my favourite video games to become a game about super-fast twitch gameplay, when we are living in an era that is dominated by twitch-fast games like COD, BF or Battlefront.

+Samuel James Super-fast twitch gameplay is not only what requires very high skill with infinite skill ceiling, but, what is more important, microcontrol looks good. Perfect strategy is not obvious, perfect microcontrol can be seen by anybody. On top of that, after millions of games, all good strategies are discovered anyways, and a tournament becomes a battle of memory, not a battle of wits (not that Starcraft doesn't have strategy involved, of course). So SC2, especially LoTV, is a game where a faction controlled by a team of decent players (like, multiple Archon mode in one) would be unbeatable by any single genius player.
