Colbert's Late Show success was in part because of Chris Licht, who stepped in as showrunner when Stephen had a rocky first year as host. He's also responsible for establishing MSNBC's flagship morning program "Morning Joe" and successfully re-tooled CBS' morning program "The Early Show" into "CBS This Morning", whose hard-leaning format alternative to Today and GMA have since carried over to what's now "CBS Mornings". He's a solid choice for his toughest challenge yet as the new head of CNN, whose reputation and credibility on both sides are in the toilet due to Trump enabler Jeff Zucker's disastrous tenure and are in desperate need for someone new who champions leadership and quality before ratings and eyeball-grabbing gimmicks. That said, I wish him all the best at his new gig in Atlanta.

Chris is so humble. He cares about all people and I mean all people. When I met him those smiling eyes you can see that he is a genuine man. May God bless him with good health and a long long life. I wish him and his great family all the best in life.

Adorable and precious. Apparently a really awesome boss and guy. Good luck to him. CNN definitely needs his influence right now.

Colbert should have held out for a trade deal: Two video editors, a camera operator, an assistant lighting tech, the first three picks in next year's Writers Draft and...... Wolf Blitzer's beard.

Because he's rarely on camera, I never thought about what a difficult job Chris had to bring this show to an even higher standard through such difficult times. The quality and stature of this show has really grown. CNN is lucky to get him. A very moving sendoff and so well deserved, the gag with the bucket of chicken and all.

That made me tear up. I'm proud of all of you on the Late Show, and it's incredible to see people get recognized for all they did. Congratulation, Chris, and I would offer my condolences to Steven for losing this talent, but clearly, he's very excited about this too.
