There both beast mode chainsaws. Neither bogged down a bit. Right straight through the cut. Very impressive . Mike Morgan buys only the best.

Another great video, thank you. I purchased the MS-661CM 2 years ago for milling. I had weighed it against the 500i and went with the ‘more displacement theory’ and I have not been disappointed. As a milling saw the 661 with a 36” bar is excellent. With a 28” bar the 661 is a great felling saw and large diameter bucking saw. For bucking anything under maybe 16” diameter I switch to a lighter saw because the trade off for power is weight and the lighter saws are safer and not as tiring to me to use.

Just bought a brand new 500. I love it. Have no complaints about it cut everything I have to do and I do a lot of Firewood,.

Very good display and comment re. soft wood! The 660 held its revs better, but the 500 is a screamer! Get your 660 ported, and it'll be a proper beast!

Years ago I bought a 044 brand new and had several tanks of gas through it before I ran it wide open. Years later i bought a 660 and I'd ten times rather had the 044 in hard or soft wood. That 044 was a cutting machine
@matthewheffernan3877Ай бұрын
044 is an awesome saw. light and powerful. With a freshly sharpened chain it cuts as fast as my mates 500i with his poor sharpening technique. The best saws in the world are only half the story. Clean air filter, good fuel, sharp chain, chain tension and bar condition are the other half. ill buy a lot more saws yet but ill never sell the 044
@Blackfox_KidАй бұрын
@@matthewheffernan3877 yes sir I believe that 044 will cut neck in neck every day with a 500i and taken care of right it'll out cut the 500. I only run no ethanol in my saws with good mix. Cleaning often.
@matthewheffernan3877Ай бұрын
@@Blackfox_Kid I only run motul full synthetic. I mix with chemistry beakers im spot on with my blends. I run a lawn business so im going through a tonne of 2 stroke so might as well do it right. The bore in the 044 look like new. it runs amazing its done a tonne of work it's not beaten but you can see how many times its been put down and how worn the handles are. I got it off my mate an arborist who passed away and he didn't buy it new. Im not knocking the 500i I like it and I think its a little faster than my 044 all things being equal but it won't be going in 10 years let alone spring to life like its just been tuned by the worlds best tuner every time I start it.

Mike, you gotta use the same chain and bar on both saws for a fair comparison. Cheers from The Great White North.

@@OutdoorsWithTheMorgans the soft wood times would reflect the cutter set is already cutting as quick as it can.. in that log.. was it semi chisel.. lots of chain tune to suit either saw in both woods.. have a near new 661 dead ign so I just use old reliable 660.. they go for ever

@johngrossbohlin75823 ай бұрын
Yup, the 661 is all about the torque in hardwoods. Like your PA woods, my woods are mostly hardwoods (soft and hard maple, ash, cherry, white oak, red oak, etc.) and my 661 sees duty in the 14"+ wood, especially if 14" is the smaller stuff I'm cutting at the time.. I'll run my 461 in the 8"-16" and my 261 for smaller stuff. About 1 in 200 trees that see my saws are hemlock or white pine so the alleged speed advantage of the Husky saws is of no interest to me.

I’ve been cutting firewood with my 550xp, then last year I had an opportunity for ms661 at a great price, got be honest, I think I’ve bitten off more than I can chew 😳

The question is did you let the 500i idle for 2 minutes or so? also, I would take the 661 for firewood but it's heavy now. above all, I love my 395 XP husky. keep up the great work man!
