Stick to a hybrid stack. Instead of pads on the flight plate or rim, put them right on the crack. You're able to still have good angle control and wrist angle and power pushing on the rim. I wouldn't go 100% all rim unless you have a WIDE open fairway because of the unwanted variables that come as a result.

Honestly what we need more than anything is sub-thousand rated players to stop instructing people on literally anything in disc golf. The only time you ever hear people speaking in absolutes when it comes to something you should do in disc golf is whenever it's coming from some 900 rated player no one should be listening to. Youre instructing people not to do something that some of the most prominent forehand players of all time swear by. Theres a reason its an age old saying and its not because it doesnt work. If it doesnt fit your play style, cool. But to tell people to stop doing something because of that is just bad information. Disingeniuine at best

I’ve only heard this kind of advice from people at this golf courses or at disc shops. It’s more of an old-school way of throwing for hand. Personally, I can’t do the sacked grip. Serving the pizza for me works a lot better. For whatever reason when I try to do the stat grip, I lose all control of where the disk goes and it wobbles. I’m sure there’s something I could do to fix. I like having my palm up when I’m doing a forehand and I get good enough results from it.

I use my index finger on the rim wall and my middle finger sits on the lower rim profile a bit like how I used to throw fast balls in baseball. Saw someone use this to get huge distance and I've been using that grip ever since. I still use the two finger grip when throwing putters or midrange forehand. I have a putter ace with the two finger grip and a driver ace with the one finger grip. Experiment, take notes and see what works for you!

I've thrown several shots 400-500+ without using this tip and I'm willing to try it next time I do some field work; however most of the power in a side arm has almost nothing to do with the wrist motion. If you aren't engaging your hip and core in the shot then you are losing half your potential distance

@jeffbehm6723Күн бұрын
You can think of an ultimate disc being like a putter with like 9 glide, as they take about the same power to get them to spin correctly. So since the max speed you can get to is less when throwing palm up, it makes a lot more sense to use in ultimate than in disc golf. I am a forehand dominant player and I only throw shots with palm up with putters, and only on touch shots where I need a little more control to get it to curve around a tree or something

Thinking about going back to one finger, like Marwede, because I can bring it a good bit further back, so could be more spin generated. I suspect I’m not the only one, and that I bet a lot of middle fingers just don’t bend as far back as using index only. Curious whether you’ve tried this.

Me personally, I stack my fingers the first way (the way he tells you not to do) and get more power and distance than, "the proper way". Don't forget whether its backhand or forehand the power generates from the legs into the hips then arm speed and snap at the end. just my .02 cheers
