Did these fail during the test? I don't recall seeing that. That fiberglass cover won't provide much if any extra strength or sealing. I guess it will keep them from turning and coming loose. Which is how they "fail" normally. Some kind of positive locking would probably be a better bet. Going to be hard to open them yourself with cold wet hands like that...

I thought it might make it easier to use given you could grip that turned-down lip with both hands, kind of like gripping a wheel. But I also thought with the lip turned down it could be ripped off if the boat dips down and the wave catches the lip with some force.

I noticed your using ct1 , is it good with sea water and uv ? I’ve had good luck with it at work ( plumbing)

Yes there's trackers and she will be on marine traffic
