Is this process really this easy and straight forward? I ordered Monroe quick struts from Rockauto for the front of my 09 Legacy. Stock spring snapped in half (rusted straight through) so I just ordered the entire assembly. Hoping I can do this myself in an afternoon, I've only done brakes and fluid changes and basic things on my Subaru's. This doesn't look too complicated, like it more or less just bolts straight up.

Question for you - can the strut mounts be installed in any orientation or does the left need to mirror the right side? I noticed their are two bumps on the top of the casters and wasn't sure if those needed to be oriented in a specific way. Seems like you could orient each side in three different ways. Does that throw off your alignment to the point where your car could start pulling left or right at higher speeds? Appreciate the video!!

I'm going to replace both struts and springs... Would you recommend using new strut mounts, or can I get away with the old ones? (200k miles, not sure if strut mount was ever replaced). I guess the question would be - how often they brake... They are quite expensive (more than springs..) ~$60 for each... Or I also read tribeca mounts fit as well ($50 each). I'm leaning towards getting tribeca mounts, as mine look very rusted on top and bottom. Will also help to avoid potentially dangerous strut assembly/disassembly on the street (with all pedestrians and other cars passing by)

The top bolt is a camber bolt. It is oblong in the center. As you turn it it moves the spindle in or out. You need to mark it because if you don't you can out it back in the wrong orientation.

I am trying to decide between a quickstrut assembly or just replacing the struts. The struts themselves are much cheaper, but not if you need to also replace the mounts. Is it normally needed to replace the mounts too, or could I use the old ones and just replace the struts with a spring compressor? +Brian Skinner first, that's bs. 96+ Subarus are OBDII. Any code reader/scan tool can communicate. You can't see as much info on a Subaru as say a Chevrolet, but you can scan them. The EZs are far more reliable than the EJs. That said, I've seen many EJs go 200k, 300k, 500k+ miles. All how they're cared for.

Geez only a quick strut, was hoping to see a real procedure, but fyi You don’t have to mark ANYTHING, the bolts have marks, the STRUTS have marks!!! It’s been a Subaru thing forever!

Hi my friend, need to make you a question I recently bought a 2002 bugeye swapped to sti engine, And it comes with these shitty Ebay coil overs and I am thinking to make a replacement which some STI pink factory used struts but I am wondering if there are differences between the sedan and wagon models especially in the rear struts, they are 5x100’s, found on eBay complete JDM strut sets around $500 in good condition. Thanks for your answer.

@@MrSubaru1387 Well shoot, I better get er done then! Bought a parts Outback wagon with 150k miles, and I may have to snag the struts for my 305k daily driver, if it doesn't take all that long to swap out. Awesome! Thanks!!!

We don’t think we did but maybe. Someone said it looked like the hub was falling out a little. Would that cause it to not tilt back into place.
