SUMMiT REBUiLD - Part 1: Front Differential Deeply Needs Maintenance!

This is the first installment of a series I'll be doing on rebuilding my "new" Traxxas Summit! I already have footage for the next episode, but if there's changes you'd like to see comment below and I can try to implement them when filming in the future.
The Summit has been a dream rig for me ever since it come out (big tires, locking diffs, and a 2 speed trans - too cool!), so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get one. Unfortunately I had to trade away my really nicely built Slash 4x4, however that sat on a shelf most of the time, so I figured I'd use it as currency to get something I really wanted. Unfortunately this beast of a truck is no longer available new from Traxxas so you can only get them on the second hand market, and they're only going to get rarer and more beat up with time, so I'm glad to scoop this one up, totally unmodded or otherwise ruined, just needs a LOT of maintenance as you'll see in the video series!
Can't wait to create adventures with this new rig, especially in the snow. Stay tuned!

I purchased a used one for my Son in law last summer. I switched it over to a brushless setup. The previous owner hadn't cleaned the differentials and they were FULL of sand. The rear one locked up ,found it had exploded from the sand. He gave me the vehicle yesterday because he knew how badly I wanted a Summit. I will replace the front differential this season as well.

18:26 The instruction says "Diff carrier support "I" bar rounded edge down" and this is the large bar in the middle, not the side tabs. You placed the tabs right, but the "I" bar is upside down, thus not the correct gear mesh. I've made this mistake several times, which destroyed the spider gears over time... Until I saw the little arrow on the instruction, which points to the "I" bar edges and not the side tabs ;)

I've never noticed that before!! Thank you!! I've blown up the diffs twice now, and I bet incorrect mesh is the reason.

You just saved my diff ! I put new spider gears in and grinded the spider gears down to nuthing first run ! I almost put the I bar in upside down again but now its perfect 6s hobbywing max 6 it ripps no problem at all thank you agen I never noticed they were taking about the I beam I thought it was the thing on the end of spider gear I was going to buy e-revo differential and drive shafts and differential carrier it would have been 150 plus $ to do that and I would lose the looking differential! 😮

Hi, i need troubleshooting, summit front left tyre shakes up and down left right when in low throttle, but became stable as i give it full or more than 50% throttle
