Finally! A new video!
In this video I begin the process of tuning up my Lie-Nielsen Number 4 Smoothing Plane. I bought this from a very good friend who had looked after it well, but all planes can benefit from some work before use. At the very least, you should sharpen the blade!
David Charlesworth’s Tool Tuning Course introduced the concept of Super Tuning. This is where you can improve the performance of your plane by looking for areas in the working parts that can be made to work more efficiently.
There’s a lot to the process. I’ve decided to make a two part series on this, so watch out for part two soon.
Whilst editing, I realised I could’ve done some tasks slightly differently and with different tools, but that’s the joy of exploring! One of the issues I’ve had is that the iMovie app I’m using to edit does odd things to the sound; amongst a whole host of other odd things that it does! I’ve torn ma hair oot trying to figure out why, but to no avail. After a while, you think “just get it out there, for goodness sake!” So there are a couple of sequences where the sound drops out, but it doesn’t detract from the visuals too much.
