Other good Superman books are these: "Man of Steel" a miniseries by John Byrne. This was the first time they rebooted his origin story after Crisis on Infinite Earths. "Superman For All Seasons" another take on his origin, and one of the main sources of inspiration that James Gunn cited for this movie. "Action Comics #775", an issue that was written in response to the popularity of "The Authority", who we already know will be in this universe. "Action Comics 866-870" part of Geoff Johns' run on the title, and in this one he reintroduces Brainiac, bringing him back to his Silver Age roots. "Superman Annual #11" titled "For the Man Who Has Everything", it's a great story by Alan Moore. Also, it was later adapted into an episode of Justice League Unlimited.

I do agree with your take on Cavil’s S emblem. You could add that both is pretty much to have reminders of Superman’s heritage; one with what’s left from the materials of krypton as the other is simplified for the general audience but still knowing it’s alien like letter.

Think of this as a reverse Kingdom Come Superman. Instead of being older and coming back to teach justice to the new era of hero, he’s starting his journey and bringing his form of justice to the previous age of hero. Cannot wait for this. On ya James Gunn!

This new Superman crest is absolutely GLORIOUS!! The textures, the shades of red, blue, and almost a goldish yellow. And I love how the outline of the crest is in yellow this time, It really makes the "S" pop much more. I'm so fucking excited for this film! And it looks like maybe the first seen is at the Fortress of Solitude with the snow. July 2025 can't come soon enough!!!

I like the logo, I love Cavill's logo but this one is good as well. This one is a mix of the Kingdom Come suit and the gold/yellow outline looks to be inspired by the superman logo in his first comic. Also James has teased about Superman with the trunks in a reply.

Superman's suit was originally made by Clark and or his parents, it wasn't supposed to be from Krypton. In fact, every aspect about Clark Kent/Superman was stuff he created and became from growing up on earth in Kansas. Really the only connection to his Kryptonian heritage with his persona: is the Fortress of Solitude, and the fact that he has super powers. IMO that makes who he is as a character so much richer, and noble, and meaningful "truth, justice and the American way". I never liked them leaning into the "because he's an alien is the reason for his heroic purpose" narrative. Hopefully Gunn does justice to his original roots 🤞🦸

I think context for the suits is important when regarding Cavil suit vs Corenswet. The Cavil Man of Steel suit is an ancient Kryptonian body armor with the crest and the texturing and the overall style for the most part. Yes it is the most engineered as far as design. However if you look at the Corenswet suit and zoom in on the material, you can see how so much of it looks like it was handwoven by a human. And a popular trend for Superman, yet one that hasn’t been used in any of the live action moves yet, is that sometimes Clark Kent’s mother from Smallville makes his suit! That’s the vibe I’m getting here atleast. It feels very homemade, but still modern and fresh.

we need a "Worlds Finest" movie to follow this and brave and the bold. Batman and superman are like yin and yang which is why their friendship has always been so great but we keep getting Batman vs Superman stuff again and again. We need something that captures the spirit of stuff like the jlu cartoon, superman/batman public enemies, S/B apocalypse to name a few. Especially with how this is influenced by kingdom come, we need more positive superhero projects instead of the constant doom and gloom schlop we keep getting

Taking 'Legacy' out of the title is a great idea but then I guess it'll make more sense based on Gunn's script. He said Superman: Legacy felt ok when he first started writing it but now that he's deeper into it, Superman felt like the best title. Can't wait to see his version.

I am not sure who should play Superman’s father but I have a feeling that it could be Kurt Russell or Brendan Fraser, hopefully one of them! Also, that suit is gorgeous. Absolutely love the choice of the material and the KC logo. Also, I can see some light sky blue colour at the very bottom so I can't wait to see the full look of this masterpiece!

When we first heard the rumor that he’d be wearing the Kingdom Come suit, I was pretty worried. Even though they’ve said this movie will be a take on Superman, I was still hoping for a more classic Superman, maybe even with the Fleischer logo. But after he posted that cast picture, all those worries have gone away. Everybody in that picture just looks so perfect and I can’t wait. Now I’m just wondering where Perry White is 🤔.
