About 20 yrs ago my youngest sister was an EMT🚑. She told me when needed they'd have a patient lift their arms above their head & repeat a hard short cough multiple times for arrhythmia. I've been doing it once in a blue moon when my arrhythmia acts up & it works for me. Thanks Lil' Sis 💕

@@CL-mp4vnI’m not sure if I can say it right. I do this for hiccups and never fails. I had one when i was 32, no chest pain, just weird pressure pain down both arms, feeling of a ball of air in my throat, cold very cold even when i got to a hot shower, then about an hour in i started to get lock jaw , like when you yawn to big and it hurts, that was my cue to get to hospital. i walked into emergency and the nurse asked what was wrong I said I have pain in my arms and my jaw was like a cramping. Thats all i needed to say! I was rushed in and stayed 5 days ended up with three stents. At 40 i moved to Thailand to train Muay Thai full time, 5days week 2hrs day. Still here at 53yrs old training....cardiologist said my heart has grown arterial arteries across my heart to compensate for my blockages, he said its very rare that happens and happens from stress being put on the heart muscle from years of training. god bless

Good advice. Where I live, there is a 10 to 12 hour wait in an Emergency Room. Ambulances are slow or a no show as they are mostly parked at the hospital waiting to unload patients they have already picked up. All this is due to staff shortages and burn out of the support staff. You better learn all you can about coping for yourself.

Retired RN for 30 years in critical care. This is AWSOME! I have NEVER heard this type of technique. But on several occasions over the years, my coworkers and I would instruct our patients to cough as hard as they could during events of them having a run of V-tach (ventricular tachycardia) of course they were conscious at the time, sometimes it would help the heart to convert back to a sinus rhythm. I'm going to instruct all of my family and friends. ❤

Dr. Mandel, I'm a 68 yr old woman who had a heart attack in 2018 while living in an Alaskan bush village. My only symptom was severe, sharp stabbing pain between my shoulder blades. I was teaching at the time, and went through my workday; even walked nearly a mile after work with my dogs before the pain became too intense. With no ambulance service available, I walked the 1/2 mile to the clinic, where a doctor 80 miles away ordered an ECG by phone. It showed "normal." 2 normal ECGs later, I was still in extreme discomfort; the nurse asked permission to try Nitroglycerine. My pain subsided and I was able to take the last flight out of my village to reach the nearest hospital, where my next ECG did not read "normal" as before. Weird, huh? I know that was long, but I felt need to explain the circumstances. Had I known the breathing technique you taught here, it may have reduced the stress caused by my unusual symptom and the fear that accompanied it. Thank you so much for bringing this valuable tool for us to use.

My friend took chillie pepper waiting for the ambulance---and doctors said it saved his life. I paid for a scan of my heart- to see how much blockage could be there---instead of waiting for a heart attack---best money I spent. I know exactly whats going on with my plac levels and how much they have built up around my heart. Fortunately for me, no build up. Said come back in 5 years to have another one. The piece of mind is wonderful.
