Having secured a source of fuel for our ship to return to earth and a supply of concrete which will be critical for the construction of future buildings, we must break ground on our first dome and all the infrastructure supporting it. Not to mention bring in a couple of rovers. I will show you how to use them properly and get the dome ready for your founders.

You can build solarpannels and sterling generators inside domes and they require less maintenance if you use a triangle for 3 tiny buildings you have one hex left and you can put a sterling generator in there and if you have exess power you can store it however im pretty sure you have can only build power accumulators outside

Pipe and Cable around the Dome are just adding more points for failure. The Dome will conduct Air, Water, and Power (even an Oxygen Storage will conduct Water, and a Water Storage will conduct Oxygen). You just need a single Pipe or Cable dot to act as glue between your external objects and the Dome.

Why not connect it to the main network through a cable switch and pipe valve? Then you can isolate it when you want to, or connect it by opening the switch and pipe valve if it needs help from outside, say if a dust devil or meteorite knocks out the dome power generators. I'd think having the option to connect or isolate would be the best of both worlds.

You should have two sets of pipe and cable going from the dome to other objects, in case one of them fails. s for keeping them isolated, how are you expecting to get water, oxygen and power to the dome if they are not connected? Backup power at a different site is one thing, having power that you need in one place while another suffers from a lack is another.

You don't need two sets of pipes and cables. Any malfunction is considered as additional user: if cable broke down, you will have extra power demand, and if pipe broke, you will have extra water and oxygen demand. Think like this: pipe isn't single pipe, but multitude of pipes and cable isn't single cable. Here on Earth if water pipe broke you still have water until repair crew come and turn water off for repairs.

Dome can be done on sol 4, if you go 2 concrete and stirling gens

Pipes and cables have the top priority automatically I am 90% sure XD

They have priority 3, meaning they'll compete with other priority 3 buildings for drone attention. That normally isn't a problem unless you have a dire drone shortage or set everything to priority 3.

No...I was following along with you on the game and had the epicenter of a meteor shower hit on day 15. Knocked out power to my drone hub (destroyed the power lines). I needed to bring in a rover to control drones to fix everything. Kinda sucked.

I do have a question, what happens if you find out there are no metals near your initial landing site?

When the game auto-scans a tile for you, that tile always has a concrete deposit and at least 50 metals. If you ignore the starter tile and land elsewhere, you are rolling the dice.

Ah sorry i meant an underground metals. I got a start recently where I had about 30 metal on the surface, and that was that. Made it hard to make machine parts as I had no ongoing source of metal.

Karagianis just wait and keep scanning im not sure if you can take your time if you have misteries but you could just wait and scan the whole map and all the tech but it will take a lot of time
