How does the "whole house" device work? Does it just snap around the main line coming into the breaker box? Very cool stuff. I'll be ordering soon.

Whole house protection is done by installing a quality Type 2 Surge Protection Unit and a set of whole-house high-saturation ferrites. The surge protection device wires into the breaker panel (need an electrician for this), and the whole-house ferrites snap around the incoming power wires. I recommend the Siemens FS140 surge protection device, which can be found all over the web. The ferrites are at: disasterpreparer.com/product/hisat-ferrites/.

I can't find where to buy the ring terminals on your website. I'm on the page with EMP Auto Protection.

We do not carry extra ring terminals, you should be able to find more at your local hardware store.

Can u show me how that works with a side post battery?

I don't have one of those handy, but the ring terminal should install around the bolt/nut that holds the clamp onto the battery terminal. See if this video helps: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gthyqbCivcDHZqc.html. I know it's a top post battery, but I would think the terminal clamps are similar.

From Lil Giant I only recently subscribed, am really new to this info, and am not sure what this video is about. I watched the one about putting cloth over the cars. Starting a homestead next Christmas and had found out about a black paint you can put in your house to protect it. Was planning to do that, but can be pretty expensive. Saw your video on cloths. That is more within my budget range. I do not know what this box thing is. Sorry. Do not know what a “cage” is. Getting confused about where to start and what to emphasize. Think probably a house/shelter would be first priority. Thinking about a root cellar. Could I keep stuff down there without needing protection? First place us going to be a rundown old trailer my friend and I are going to rebuild. He is pretty good at that stuff. Thought I would put black paint inside the walls when we renovate. I saw you sell some kind of electric stuff to protect things. Right now am concerned about protecting an invalid on oxygen. She lives in a townhouse. Was going to get solar battery. Wanted to protect electrical system to protect solar battery and oxygen machine. If you have any suggestions for either the invalid or, later, after Christmas for the homestead, including a root cellar, I sure would appreciate it.

Hi Henry, first I'd say to focus on getting your basic preparations in order before worrying too much about an EMP attack. A blackout is probably more likely, and it would have a similar effect if someone were depending on electricity to stay alive. A good backup power generation system (you mentioned solar) makes perfect sense. As does a battery backup with an inverter for short-term emergencies. Food, water, heating, and other critical necessities should also be considered. Only after you get those preparations up and running would I worry about EMP preparedness. You might check out my handbook as a place to get started: www.amazon.com/Handbook-Practical-Disaster-Preparedness-Family/dp/1475136536

@@disasterprepper From Lil Giant Sorry. Guess I mislead you. We have a Burkee, we have wheat grinder, food storage. Although that is an ongoing effort, of course. Homesteading is the next step for independence. Have a little experience in gardening. Seeking heirloom seeds. Studying videos. Working on what kind of plans for storage and shelter. What kind depends upon how fast we can decide on what is necessary. You are right. A blackout would create same situation, for us, as an EMP. Thus the solar needs. Which led us to your site. Since we are tearing down trailer on site/creating underground shelter/building home, need to decide needs, shelter methods, understand WHAT is needed and COSTS. Personally, I know NOTHING about electricity. Once attended beginning of class TWICE in ham radio. Dropped. Totally ignorant about electricity, even now. Depending on a friend. If need to paint inner walls of any shelter, even if EMP preparations not complete before complete build, want plan that. Not electronics related. But expensive. Cannot tear down walls again AFTER renovations or new build. Will not. Wondered if underground/hill TYPE shelter would protect against attack. Moisture a problem? Will look to purchase your guide, but suspect it is focused on food. We are a step past that. Need to move on faster than most due to invalid on oxygen. Complicates things and amount of time available for planning/implementation is uncertain. Must be very creative. Cannot stay in this place. Thanks for the referral to the book. Thank you for your time. 👍
