Instead of using the oil drain pan i just use an empty windshield washer containers... typically takes 1.5 containers but its easy to change them by shutting off the valve and sliding in a fresh one. This allows you to drain the oil without spilling a drop OR having to clean up oil off a plastic container. Then you could cap that to haul the old oil away or pour it back into the new (now empty) oil container. I also use a roughly 6” plastic hose on the nipple (i said it too lol) below the oil filter. Then put the other end of that hose into an empty plastic water bottle (or whatever bottle you can throw away). When its done draining just slide the small chunk of plastic hose off the nipple and let it fall in the bottle. Cap it and done.

I know this is old but I can't believe you bought extra oil for this. I would have just bought a new clean $5 oil pan and just put the clean oil back in after the test drained with the new valve.

I have one on every vehicle. My taco has the 'old' one that you have. No skid plate. I use the plastic lock ring, no issues (If I did more off roading than I do, I'd likely get a skid plate). I also put a small hose on the nipple and into the drain pan or jug. Walk away for an hour or so. By that time, its all done dripping. I will probably get the larger one though. Awesome video, awesome product. Thank you.

Sweet. Just ordered the 133S with hose and caps for my Tacoma. Now that these drain almost as fast as opening the plug, there's no reason not to have a Fumoto. (as long as you're running a skid of some sort)

Engine flush in the oil at operating temp is the quickest oil change as the oil's viscosity is destroyed so it runs out like water. Love my Fumoto valves. EZ Drain makes a decent valve, too. Their lever has a plastic cover to make it more comfortable to actuate.

Great video. I would have put the 2nd (new) oil back in and used it. If oil catch had been drained completely out. I don't see a difference between the slight dirty oil in it with new and the oil still dripping out (not contaminated). Maybe only if I used my oil drain pan for other drains (and wasn't completely clean) and it wasn't completely drained before new oil hit it. And sure I bought the old value from your video and now there is a new one. Wish the tip was longer on new (I like faster drain time. I am going to put a long clear hose on that will hang just below skid, Plug it, then stick it up on top of skid until oil change. Oh another item of interest. Originally bought drain plug for 4 runner. But found out I can't get my hand in to even touch my plug (so I can't even use it) the way my RCI skids are. So the valve will go to my Tacoma (good I hate taking the TRD skid off for oil changes..

Tacomaholic oh one more question. When you took out the old drain, was there any more oil that came out from the pan? Im curious if the threaded part of the plug traps oil in the pan. And that it’s higher than the bottom of the pan. Thus cause the oil to be trapped.
@Tacomaholic

Is that low profile enuf it doesn't protrude beyond the skid plate? I thought there's another brand of fast drain plug where you have to shove an adapter up inside that depresses a ball bearing allowing the oil out after removing a protective cap, the benefit being it's a bit more tamper proof.

I was taught the oil should be at or near engine operating temperature when doing an oil change. You say the oil was cold, perhaps that's what caused the long drain time? 20 minutes seems excessively long.

I purchased the Stahlbus for my 2017 3.5L. I f***** UP and installed it without removing the previous gasket. A few days later I came out to go to work and there was Mobil1 all over my driveway!! Live and learn I will never do that again. The old Toyota gasket was stuck to the pan and when the two gaskets were squished together a proper seal was not made. Luckily the company who sold me the Stahlbus is ending me a brand new one. These things are not cheap and I am hoping that this time by only torquing to 18ftlbs and using only one gasket things will go as they are supposed to! BTW..... HA!!! NIPPLE (.)(.)

@Tacomaholic
@Tacomaholic 3 жыл бұрын
Why do you think it's a bad idea?
@gcr28
@gcr28 3 жыл бұрын
Well, it looks like you are adding a lever if you will to the end of your drain plug bolt threads, if something were to hit that you could damage the threads in the oil pan and even dent the pan itself. Also you are going from 1 point of possible leakage to about three. Just my opinion, but some pretty intelligent people design those things the way they are for a reason. I wouldn’t trust it to any form of off road usage whatsoever, rocks tend to go just about everywhere. Plus it slows down the rate of flow when draining oil, seems easier and faster to just remove one bolt. Just my opinion though, to each their own. I love your truck 👍
