Hi Taylor the first thing I look at is your hair then your beautiful face and those earned smudges. We haven't had manure episode lately so that barn cleaner is working ok. Your energetic enthusiasm is what keeps Brent going. Has Brent ever considered a dump trailer for the farm. Where is the dairy farm doggie

Fantastic to see an old plate planter being put to good use. Nice simple mechanical unit that's easy to maintain. If actual plowing with a mold board plow isn't an option, please consider adding a buster bar and a set of drag harrows behind your disk -- you'll be amazed at how they will break up your clods and leave you with a nice fine seed bed. And fewer trips over the ground saves time, tractor hours, diesel as well as reducing your compaction.

Sorry about your cow being sick. Not the same as a productive cow but we lost a 12 year old cat that when she was a kitten we had to cut fly larva out of her skin, I had 2 kittens that survived the larva infestation but she did not make it past the virus she got. Her sibling and one other cat got very sick but they pulled through. Calf looks great, the buyer is lucky to get such nice calves from you guys. Very glad your corn planter worked, if you have a little worked ground left look for some short day sweet corn to plant and you will have great sweet corn, super sweet used to have some short day sweet corn. Hope you guys stay safe and healthy Tay.

It’s never easy with any animal is it, you works so hard and get so invested in there recovery that is can be really devastating when they don’t pull through. But I guess if it ever get easier to lose them then you probably shouldn’t be doing it anymore right? Planting sweet corn is an excellent idea! Thanks so much 😀

Sorry to hear about the sick cow, its never easy to deal with an ill animal. I enjoyed the corn planter, maybe next year a classic IH like a 560 or 656 to pull it with. You should look into a drag or harrow to pull behind the disc would really smooth it out and make a nice seed bed.
@tractorsold1
@tractorsold1 8 күн бұрын
I agree. For a field like this, we pulled a drag (spike harrrow) behind our disk, and it really broke up the lumps and left a level field.

Great to see that you got your corn in. My uncle used to sue corn for sileage. Chopped and blew it into an upright silo. Always had enough for the winter. Used to hook our Massey up with a belt to run the chopper and blower. Always stayed clear of the belt in case it came off. Good looking calf. and the cows were sure noisy today. They must of wanted their hay. You make the most informative videos of farm life I have seen. Of course I am partial to dairy farms. Lived on one for 5 years. Loved the life. I would have gotten into farm life but my late wife didn't like that life. As she said it was fine to visit but she didn't want to live that life. You bring back memories of that time. Good farmin and God Bless

Thanks! That’s so cool! I would have absolutely loved to have been around when smaller farms were SO common, a much simpler time. Farming definitely isn’t for everyone and I can see why your wife didn’t really want to live that life, it can be very difficult and everyday is 24/7. But if it’s in your blood and you lived it then it’s hard to give up so I totally understand your side as well. I still haven’t found someone who is willing to live it with me, hopefully someday!🙂. Thanks so much for commenting I always enjoy hearing from wonderful folks like yourself

Stupendous that is some really good progress for all of us (mainly you and Brent of course) and all of us can't wait to see the little shoots popping up! What's a little bit of room left in that field why don't you throw some short term sweet corn in? Last year I cut the kernels and scraped about 120 ears of sweet corn which created quite a batch in the freezer, but when I move to Alaska I certainly didn't have room so all my friends are enjoying it, in between fresh frozen sweet corn and fresh frozen peas I don't think there's anything better in the winter to enjoy!!! I'm certainly second-guessing my move up north, I miss the warm days and the green fairways and the gardening, my last winter I spent in Alaska one month was 44° below the whole month and 10' of snow, UHG!!!!!!?

Ya, you're planting corn!! she's sick, if her nose is dry and her ears are cold, she's not chewing her cud! hardware? Sorry about the cow, I know how it goes. We had an Allis Chalmers roto baler, we left the bales out and if we didn't get them picked up before it rained, we would let the bale dry out, then us kids would have to go and roll them over so the bottoms would dry, then pick them up, the only weighed 30-40 lbs! I use to carry a piece of gas line hose with me, just for that purpose! Love your Barn, you keep it up and looking nice around it! I milked cows in a 90 cow barn, and had two calf pens on each side at the end, had a 10 cow stantion place for heifers under the bridge way, a wing almost like your free stall! My Dad would plant corn on the sidehill, some of the corn on the upper side didn't get covered, so us kids (us kids had to do everything!!) had to go down the row with a hoe and cover the corn!!

Hi Taylor: Am a big fan of watching "The Incredible Dr. Pol" on the Disney channel. He is a vet in Central Michigan and routinely has clients that have cows with twisted stomachs. He never cuts them open for that but rather does a "roll and stich" - where he threads the twisted stomach to the exterior hide by using a circular heavy gauge needle after the cow has been rolled. A stethoscope is used to detect the radial location of the stomach - mainly by detecting air pockets beneath the hide.

As long as the depth of planting is per directions you'll have a bumper crop of corn. Very important. Better late than never. A lot corn is stored for when the price is right.
