I'm Generation X, born in 1971, and this is one of the most essential and influential songs from The 80s. I remember watching this video ALL THE TIME on MTV. When ever I hear it, it TOTALLY reminds of me of being a kid growing up in The 80s... I miss those days.

I was born in 1967 . I had the best time of my life in the 80's. It was a time you turnt on the radio and everything was good. It didn't matter if it was pop music or rock or any kind of music. Besides that , life was so much easier. I wish I could go back in time . Miss the 80's.🎸

'82 here. I remember it it being played in 1988 when I experienced one of the most influential moments of my childhood. It was 3 years past its release, but it's lasting memory for me is more important in 2021, than it was at any moment before 2000.

The 80’s, extremely unique and very special there l are some elements and feelings you just can’t explain. Kinda, like a first kiss 💋 you had to be there time and place because you just had to be alive at that time in the universe to understand where the world was at. I thank God everyday, I was 20 in 1984 a beautiful blessing to be young in the creative, crazy, unique and totally awesome 😎 80’s‼️ Listen 👂🏼 to head over heels! Total chills!

There's a meaning behind the band's name. From their Wikipedia article: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tears_for_Fears "The band's name was inspired by Primal Therapy, developed by the American psychologist Arthur Janov, which gained tremendous publicity after John Lennon became Janov's patient in 1970."

This is probably their most popular song, but Tears for Fears is much deeper than this. Both guys take turns singing lead vocals on the songs. To hear Roland Orzabal (the guitarist) on lead vocal I suggest reacting to 'Head Over Heels', 'Shout' and 'Sowing the Seeds of Love.' Curt Smith (the vocalist and bass player who is singing lead here) also sang lead on 'Mad World', 'Pale Shelter' and 'Change.' They broke up for about 10 years in the 1990s reunited in 2000 and released another album in 2004. They have a new album finished now but no release date yet. They still tour and apparently put on a great show. After COVID, I would love to see them live in concert.

Love this song, layer upon layer, and there is a driving force behind, that can't be explained, just need to let it take you over, the drumming keeps it throbbing, and his voice sounds distant ina dyno way, the lead behind takes a sneaky bow!

There is another song that I always confuse with this one. I don't know why. It's really good and I'll bet you'd like it. It's easily good enough to react to. It's "Don't Dream It's Over" by Crowded House.
