The Philips Hue Gradient Lightstrip can now display multiple colors on a single lightstrip! It is designed to go behind your TV and use the Hue Sync Box (or PC app) to match the colors on your TV.
It gives an awesome and unique experience that you can't get anywhere else. But is it worth the hefty price tag?

Nice vid keep the light strip in the middle rather than the outside of the back of the screen depending on your connections 😉 you can make a full circle if you keep it tight 😀 👍 hope that helps 😀

Honest and very helpful review. I am a huge fan of all those crazy lights, so I made myself a present today) Later on the sync box will come, I managed to find it on sale here in Switzerland! If I am not happy with all those creazy features I will let you guys know)

I'm trying to figure out how to do this with the Samsung Frame TV (mounts flush on the wall like a picture frame). I still want the sync lighting effect but also want the flush mount TV. Any suggestions?

Does this works with my regular direct tv channels? I urged in my direct tv box to symc box and could not see channels only when direct tv box was pluggeded in directly to tv:(

I have an A90J Sony, and its imposable to install the lights to the back because of that bump out. The strips don't bend at all. On my A80J it works perfcetly.

I'd like to know options for filling in the bottom. I have one of these pre-ordered for my 75". I have a couple playbars sitting around I might be able to use, but don't really have the space between TV and wall for them ideally. Will the bottom of the TV be configurable in the entertainment zone though? I could pick up a cheaper lightstrip for bottom of TV, but may need at least 2 for the effect.

Yeah either 2 play bars or Lightstrip will work fine. You can definitely do that. A couple people over on the Hue subreddit have done this and it looks great

Your comprehensive review is just what I needed. I was wondering "should I get these lights?" But I didn't know how the setup went or would they fit an 85 inch TV? My daughter plays Fortnite and Animal Crossing on it everyday, thanks to your video I will definitely get this👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Happy New Year from California.

Have my one preordered for my LG C9. Glad I saw this video to see how you mounted it to your OLED with it being so slim at the top and bulkier the bottom half. If you use music mode in the app, does it only show one colour or 7 different colours at a time for each zone on the strip?

First review that mentions the 'problem' with the slim top and bulkier bottom half of LG Oled tv. Now personally I think this is an issue that the two corner mounts on top can't stick to the upper half. Still thinking about buying it yes or no...

Is your OLED TV from LG? If so, were you able to program your LG TV remote to control the hue sync box? I have a 65inch LG CX and it’s remote won’t pair with the sync box which is one of the features available on the sync app. It’s really very frustrating because I wanted to be able to switch HDMI inputs on the sync box using the LG remote easily instead of constantly having to use the sync app or Google voice assistant 🤷🏽‍♂️

It’s a Vizio, but I also wasn’t able to get the remote to work with the sync box. I have all the settings set to auto switch and that works decently so far

You should look into comparing this to the Goove immersion lights. Same concept but for only $79

Govees immersion product is the killer deal as you are not bound to any HDMI cables or standards...it will react to anything on your TV and most of the time with accurate colors after a little calibration. I'm still blown away by how it enhances your viewing experience and probably won't be able to watch a movie or play a game without them anymore 😬

@@xenomorphlover i just got the govee kit and while im very impressed woth it and its a great cheaper alternative and well worth £79 i think in the near future i will be getting the philips gradiant strip and bars for the bottom as the colour accuracy is so much better.

@@nissan300zxtt9 the Philips lights obviously have much better color accuracy but if you use a lot of HDMI devices or want to use the apps on your TV like KZfaq or Netflix you probably won't be able to use the kit with em. The good thing about Govee is that the lights aren't bound to any devices.

You can do it through the Hue Sun app, or you can have the input automatically switch when it detects a new input

Hey, any view on the impact if the TV isn't against the wall and instead in the corner of a room at an angle. Its a large long room and this is the only logical place for the TV and directed to the sofa's. Behind the TV its part wall with windows towards each corner of the TV. Due to the expense, its a difficult purchase to make without being a guinea pig :-)

I think as long as the windows have shades or blinds you should be ok. Depending on how far it is from the wall, you may need all the lights out for a good effect else it will be washed out

With TV shows I'd recommend a low setting and dial it in to your preference, but I mainly buy games and watch movies.

What is the model of your oled tv? I was wondering if I can use this, "Awesome👌" lightstrip on my Lg Oled Gx tv? By the way whats that frame like box on the wall written "Things" 🤔

I have a Vizio 55” OLED. I believe the shape and profile is the same as the LG oled so you should be able to use it with no problems. It’s a “things to do” checklist for upcoming posts and stuff.

i have a lg c9, its no problem. it looks kinda strange but the bending has no negative effect on the lights. this lightstrip is a absolute esset for you cx btw, i recommend it:) p.s something i found out myself. buy a syncbox, the hue sync app in combination with a computer or android tv box cannot cover 7 zones. it works but only in one color , because you can't adjust the zones in the lightstrip inside the hue app. so yes a hue hdmi play is the best experience.

Any suggestions on keeping the plastic pieces adhered to the back of the TV? The Adhesive is so bad, I have tried duct tape, gorilla tape, it looks like a war zone behind my TV and they still fall off…currently using the 75” model on the back of an 85” Samsung TV…please help!

The Sync Box give me doubts if it would work correctly and we do not lose any feature from our TV 4K... What happens if we use HDMI 2.1 port? the hdr, the local dimming and more.

Some people have successfully mounted the 55” version to their 50” TVs so you might get away with it, especially if the bezels are a little bigger

they recommend leaving some space so that the light starts a bit behind the TV, to get the full effect. The overall length of the strip is 85", so if you want, you can measure the perimeter of your TV and see how much would hang off the bottom sides.

It was about 3 inches. The setup guide recommends about 2-4.

There is Govee lights you can get on Amazon for I think $70 that gives just as good effect. It uses a camera but is just as good once the calibration is perfect. Good review nonetheless. :)

I have the Govee, it works great. And everything you need comes in the box. I do wonder if this gets brighter, even though the Govee is bright enough. I am just trying to understand why there is a $450 price difference. This light strips look just sectional and not even individually led colored. And non of this is new tech to the point of driving up the cost.

@@deeharp Phillips Hue are notorious for their ridiculous prices and practices towards consumers, pure greed. Hopefully dreamscreen 4k with lights or something simliar comes back into the market. This light strip definitely looks inferior to the govee lights too.

This Just answered soooo Many questions ..Taknig back my HUe Light strip and ordering th Gradient. It looks way easier to install.... I am hoping you or someone can help me with this I have the SAMSUNG UN65KS9000FXZA LED 4K (ONE CONNECT BOX) If you know this TV you know that the one connect box is essentially the HDMI ports 1,2,3, and Arc on the box with the monitor connection going to the box... How do I get this all to work on the HDMI sync Box.... XBOX OUT into SOUND BAR HDMI 2 IN

All your device inputs will go to the Sync Box. The sync box output will go into 1 TV input. Your sound bar will be connected to the TV HDMI that has Arc. That should be all you need to get this to work

you say buy a high end tv etc why go and pay £450 for the sync box and the gradient when you can buy a 58" phillips tv with the led amblight already built in for around £550

@@sbtube73 yeah it seems like the only lights that will do what we want is the philips hue and it’s expensive as fuck, I could run everything through my ps4 or my Apple TV and then the lights would work but then I’m running power on two devices all the time :/ Hopefully something comes out soon that will let us color change backlight led’s based on screen for cheaper than 200$

How is this better than the regular Hue light strips since the regular Hue light strips is cheaper and is not as bulky behind the tv?

The Hue light strips can only show 1 color at a time, whereas these can show multiple colors to match the screen

I don't think I would recommend that because the lights will not accurately mirror the color of the screen. i.e the color at the bottom left of your TV will then be shown in the bottom middle, and it may look strange. Up to you though

@@TechTechMoreTech that's almost as if I purchase the hue light bars to attach to the bottom of the tv. I think it was a very bad idea for them to make that light strip like that since not everyone will have their main tv on a stand.

No sir, it needs to either use the Hue Sync app on PC/Mac or the Hue Sync box.

@@christophercrowley7574 apologies, I thought you meant android TV OS built into TV's. I have not tried the hue stream app, as I don't currently have an android phone. If your Play Bars are working though, I don't see any reason why this wouldn't work.

Also it’s unlikely that the Hue Stream app will see the gradient strip as 7 zones but rather just 1 lights, so you won’t get the full benefit unless they can update to utilize that

It just depends how deep and wide it is compared to the TV. But it will certainly diminish the effect

Looks great, just can’t justify $400+ to put lights behind my TV. If it was just the light at $200 it would be fine. But since you have to have HDMI which they charge an outrageous $200 for, it just doesn’t make sense. Bought a $30 led strip that does a great job and saves the $370 for something else

So it will work the with the PS5 but not at 4K 120Hz, only 4K 60Hz. Keep in mind the Sync box came out last year, before anything supported 4K 120Hz and before the consoles were announced either. I’m sure they’re working on a newer version but nothing set in stone yet

It also does not work with HDR but there is a work around if you have an Audio receiver. Unfortunately it seems that Phillips goal was primarily about maxing their Margin on price. Verse Actually making a product that is at least worth 1/4th the price they are charging. OK Maybe its more like an 1/8th the price.

I don't think there will be a lot of 120fps games in 4k on the New consoles so it shouldn t matter

the only problem here is not just the price (kinda would be okay with it) but the fact you need to get two separate and experience devices to set up this kit, it's just stupid in my opinion, pretty much you spend around 500euros in total. It's cheaper to buy a Philips OLED tv that comes with Ambilight and all apps at least work natively. I hope Philips will come with something new in the future that solves this problem. Or probably not. maybe It is all about bussiness.

Tech Tech & More Tech what a shame. Good thing this tech is available on its own. It is such a great addition to overall tv experience that I got myself Phillips TV only because of it. If I knew this thing existed, would have shopped around more.

The bottom pissed me off so added 3 play bars on my 65inch oled tv on wall much better so light all round ussless philips. Missing bottom for customers who want full lights 😉👍 use play bars on bottom of tv stick to back facing down woho better 👍👍👍
