People often confuse confidence with extroversion or being social. A person does not have to appear confident to others to have confidence in themselves. A shy person can have more inner confidence than a gregarious extrovert, and people cannot be confident always in every situation. If one lacks confidence in a situation, it might just mean your are not comparable with that situation or activity. A man intoxicated on alcohol can appear very confident, but it's not genuine. Confidence without a purpose can lead one into many undesirable situations.

as cliche as this quote can get, it has actually helped me build the confidence I have today. It is "fake it till you make it". Every single time I felt like I wasn't capable of doing something, I pushed myself and forced myself to do it. I faked my confidence when it wasn't really at its best, I gave tips to people on confidence when I myself needed it, but I soon realized that whatever fake confidence I pretended to have, became a reality. It became my way of expressing myself. With joy, confidence, and good posture, it was part of who I am. Now many people including those whom I thought were "close friends" tried so hard to bring me down. Wether it was by pretending to "jokingly" mock something I did ( project, presentation, etc..) or even literally hating me suddenly out of the blue for no apparent reason. But honestly, I never gave importance to that, I kept doing what I was doing because it was best for me.

@@andreadeagon2301 The way I see it, experience of rewards/payoffs builds confidence. Experience that punishes causes us to avoid experiences (understandably so), but avoiding a) doesn't allow us to be learn from the experience, if we are curious rather than self-critical, and b) doesn't allow us to encounter a potentially confident-building experience. If we can learn what doesn't work, and keep making adjustments to increase the chances of future experiences being rewarding, then any experience can build confidence, directly or indirectly. Basketball Michael Jordan recalls his success as being due to (not in spite of) his failures, including failures that caused people to destroy him.

1. Permission - seeing it in others and have others lead by example, that way letting you know it's okay to be confident. 2. Community - the perfect environment to try confidence, again and again. Take a series of actions to develop it. 3. Curiosity - Her manager asked her "What was your intention?" After a failure. Curiosity invites others to be in charge of their own learning when they're already fragile.

*3 things you need to build your confidence* Having knowledge is not enough; you need confidence to complement that knowledge. You could say that knowledge and confidence are like puzzle pieces; you need both of them. *1. Permission* When others show you confidence, your brain is "permitting" you to build it. When you have seen someone do something, in the back of your mind you are thinking that since it was possible for them it is also possible for others like you to do that. In Nelson Mandela's words, "it always seems impossible until it's done." Britanny's anecdote about her parents makes me think of Veritasium's video on self-efficacy. In the video Derek explains that one of the reasons why some children follow their parents' career paths is that they grew up knowing someone else around them is capable of doing it. As they grow up, self-efficacy or the confidence that they can also do it builds up as well. *2. Community* Community is the ideal environment in which you can nurture your confidence. What I got from the video was that it is important to find an environment that encourages you to develop your confidence and rewards you for expressing it. It follows that you avoid or leave one that punishes you for doing so. *3. Curiosity* This is strongly linked with community. If you are in an environment that promotes confidence growth, then the people around you must only guide you and let you take charge of your own learning when you make mistakes. Learning and discovering things on your own cultivates curiosity.

Wow this really helped me to pin point where I've been going wrong. As a kid I was called fat and had my front teeth smashed out by another kid. My Dad would always keep the light off in the bathroom so he couldn't see himself in the mirror. I got myself an apprenticeship at my late teens. There I was bullied everyday for 4 years. Slowly losing confidence in myself everyday. Being rejected by girls time after time.. Why because my confidence was so low. At 27 years old I dropped all of my friends and decided to start life again. Now I am 30, I hope I can gain the confidence back that I once had. Just like when I was a little kid. Maybe one day I can become the person that was pushed away.

I grew up in a community where my confidence was shunned. I was told to shut up in class, people started to call me annoying because I talked and laughed too much, and my mom told me to stop being so confident. That caused me to become really quiet and insecure, so much that sometimes people get surprised when I talk because they thought I was mute. My mom still tells me that my job as a female is to be quiet, smile and let the men to the work but honestly I’m really tired of it and I think I’m going to try and be myself again :)

People often confuse confidence with being conceited, but that's not it. Confidence means accepting small failures and going on despite the obstacles. Confident human beings realize that there will always be people who try to bring others down, but they do not pay attention to nasty comments. They know their value. It took me years to develop my confidence, but it was worth fighting for. Now I am a young, independent woman who knows her advantages and knows how to use them. Thank you very much in advance, the topics discussed in this video are very good and interesting. Self-confidence is the attitude of someone who is able to think positively and believe that his abilities have qualities and can be useful for himself, others, and the environment. but not everyone is able to believe in themselves. In your conversation there are three things needed to build confidence. Because having knowledge alone is not enough, we need confidence to complete the knowledge. It could also be said that knowledge and confidence are like pieces of a puzzle, so we need both. The first point is Permission. When other people show confidence, our brain will also think to help build confidence in us. When we see someone doing something, in our mind we will think that if they can do it why can't we? Then the second point is Community. Community is an ideal environment in which we can cultivate a sense of self-confidence. What I got from this video is that it's important to find an environment that encourages us to develop self-confidence and value ourselves to express it. In other words we must also- avoid or abandon those who punish or reject us for doing so. And the last point is curiosity. It is closely related to community. If we are in an environment that encourages self-confidence growth, then the people around us just have to guide us and let us take charge of our own learning, and when we make mistakes we have to learn and find solutions on our own to cultivate curiosity. However, in my opinion, people often confuse self-confidence with extroversion or being social. one does not have to appear confident to others to have confidence in oneself. Shy people can have more inner confidence than gregarious extroverts, and people can't always be confident in every situation. If someone lacks confidence in a situation, it may mean that we are not worth the situation or activity. aimless beliefs can lead a person into many undesirable situations. So it can be said that self-confidence is the first step before we do anything. Confidence is the difference between feeling inspired and actually starting between trying and doing to completion. self-confidence helps us to keep going even when we fail. And based on the three points above, it can be concluded that Permit can give birth to self-confidence, the community maintains it and curiosity strengthens it.

The video should be titled how people gain confidence, considering the fact that no tools or tips are given on how one can actually become more confident. "Get support from the community " was pretty much the driving point in this video and yet it's nearly impossible to gain support unless the confidence is already present. It was a pretty good video though, the presenter was very charismatic & confident.

Ms. Packnett Cunningham is a brilliant, engaging speaker. I enjoyed this Ted Talk, and I know her third grade students loved being taught by her.

What an incredible video! I think this topic is very interesting. It's very beneficial for everyone. A lot of people don't think they can achieve their big dreams in life. And British speaker Packnett Cunningham says that one of the tools to achieve these dreams is confidence. The speaker has a high sense of self-confidence from his idol, Septima Clark. To him, Septima Clark was a symbol of confidence. With confidence, we can move forward at a time of failure, and we can achieve a dream come true. I totally agree with what the speaker conveyed, because I experienced less self-confidence myself. I realized that in a certain way, in a situation that I liked, I felt ready to do something and it went well. However, in other situations I did not like, I lost confidence and it produced quite a bad result. Self-confidence is needed by myself, including everyone, including me. The speaker explained the solution to how to gain confidence in this video. I raceA topic on this subject is very relevant and everyone agrees with it. I hope you also watch this video.

while watching this video, I shed some tears, I felt that those irreparable harm might embed in me for don't know how long, I also felt comfort that I might find the causes making me timid, so much sorrow as well as feeling released. How can an adult like me to heal on my own, God bless all of us to reach our own peace.
