The opening 5 minutes and Sarah’s scene with the photo (I think the scene you’re referring to?) are literally the best parts of this film. The Rev Unit I thought was a better realised version of what they were trying to do in T3. T1 & T2 are literally the highest bar of quality, none of the “sequels” have ever come close. This was probably an overall better film that the three before it, but that isn’t a recommendation...

Yes, the scene where she talks about not having any photos of John is the scene I was referring to.

I absolutely LOVED Dark Fate! 🤗 It’s not only hands down the best Terminator film since T2- but in some aspects it surpasses T2; I personally just could never get over Furlong playing John so whiny/petulant in T2. [Due to personal issues] I was unable to see Dark Fate in the theater; but as soon as I could- I watched it on home video. I hate that the film wasn’t a huge financial success; because it absolutely deserved to be. It not only pays homage to what came before- but delivers something new while also being able to stand on its own. I’d have loved to have seen a sequel follow-up to the film. I always felt that [for the Terminator franchise to be successful] they needed to move past Sarah and John Connor- which Dark Fate does effectively while paying tribute to the characters [which is not an easy feat]. Oh well. Que sera sera. Cheers! 🍻

Yes.. If you don't understand why Skynet and John are both products of a future and intertwined... Then you might like Dark Fate.. The way we see it is Kyle fathering John and the first Terminator's chip setting up Skynet is the entire time loop that setup this universe... With out that there is no Terminator... The Dark Fate would have been excellent as a spin off... I don't even understand why they called it Terminator... Even its Legion and Rev 9 units.. Name it Sahara Connor Redemption... Or Legion - The legacy of Cyberdyne.. Or something.. And don't bring back Arnold.. It could have been so much better if John died in an accident soon after T2 erasing the Skynet timeline...cut to future where Danni is saved by Grace from the Rev9... Grace has coordinates on her which gets them to Sarah..Even though she is grieving her sons loss she has prepared for judgement day... Grave convinces her that future has changed and that she was sent to protect Danni and she was given these coordinates to locate Sarah.. She reluctantly agrees and uses her contact to smuggle them across the border.. But the Rev-9 finds them.. A little chase after they reach USA.. Sarah meets Dyson's son, who is an army General and gives them the EMP.. REV-9 catches up to them. Grace then sacrifices herself to kill Rev9 and Sarah takes up Danny.. In future we see Dyson's son is the Resistance fighter who tatoos the coordinates on Grace...

They've been trying to get this bird to fly again, but it's not left the tree branch since the late 90s. I enjoyed The Sarah Connor Chronicles (what little chunk of it I caught while it was still airing) but, otherwise, I think it's time they finally put this to bed.

If anything, the existence of this film makes me appreciate the time I watched Salvation from time to time. Genuine shame they never did much with Eddie, James lied to everyone on that... Loved your review here. I can't believe I missed it, glad to have seen the recent third film though, that one gets a lot of heat for ruining 2. While at the same time get some of the most metal action pieces for its time before we had modern-day cellphones.

sarah connor in this movie is just proof as to why she wasn't in T3. She was a third wheel at this point. She did her part in T1 and 2.

thank you for this! honest to god, they should have stopped making these movies after T2. But, looking on the bright side, every time one comes out I tend to rewatch T2 which is great so... I guess they should keep making them?

They should de aged Arnold and jonh Connor and have them look exactly like in T2 and bring a new story. Or even better bring back Edward furlong. Heys back in shape and is doing well. Have the man start in a new terminator future war movie where he leads humanity

Honestly Do a future war movie. Make it suspenseful. Don't spoil the fuck out of it in trailers. Get Norman Reedus as John Connor and someone who looks like 80s era Michael Beihn who can act to be Kyle Reese. Stop having Arnold be "The Terminator." but rather cameo as the 101 models that may appear in the future. Basically make a Saving Private Ryan film mixed with John Carpenter's the Thing (with paranoia of not knowing who is a Terminator. There two types of Terminator, the basic infiltrator (Arnold) who basically gets in and kills everything in sight and the kind which can look and act like anyone that infiltrates to spy gathering enough intelligence to sabotage the Resistance, before alerting Skynet to the base's location and killing everyone. John near the end of the film can figure out how to use this against Skynet and help smash their defense grid and Skynet sensing defeat sends back the T-800 and BAM Closes the cycle. No more movies. Maybe a few games and comics. DONE.

@BullSession
@BullSession 4 жыл бұрын
I mean, Cameron has a "story by" credit, but there are like 175 other writers credited. I doubt he had all that much input. He pretty much doesn't ever give a crap unless he's in the director's chair, and he's always more than happy to shill anything that will make him money.

I really enjoy your take on things. I was disappointed by the film but not too much because my expectations weren't all that high given Cameron wasn't writing or directing and his comments on Genysis. And for all the praise being heaped on Hamilton, I thought she gave the weakest performance. But if other people enjoy it then more power to them. Maybe it will be successful and they'll get more sequels.

It's so derivative, that Grace was even a Unisol rip off... yes that Universal Soldier movie. She's an augmented soldier that needs injections and sit in ice or else she'll putter out into uselessness.

SPOILERS WARNING 1) Kill off John Connor so he can be replaced by a girl with no personality or likability (it is 2019) because she's magically going to be the leader of the resistance thus not ruining but completely disrespecting Terminator 1 & 2 2) Skynet is replaced with Legion (on Top 10 Lists of 'Most Generic Evil Names') 3) This Sarah Connor is annoying and unlikable, and Arnie just feels completely derivative 4) Let's once again use a movie to lecture about real world politics and issues like the US/Mexico Border Crisis because it's 2019 (I know movies have done this before but in this day in age it's extremely heavy handed and irritating, like you said it goes on for about 10mins in this movie) Bottom line, I hope this movie seriously under performs or downright bombs (I doubt I'm that lucky). Crossing my figures that Joker once again reigns supreme at the box office for this weekend.
