They were pretty impressive Mitch. They actually did a tad bit better than I expected they would. I watched a video that Tractor Time With Tim did a year ago, so I sort of knew what to expect. Good job Mitch. Full watch and a thumbs up 👍🏻

Nice testing Mitch. I have found similar results, as we both have the same tractor. My first tractor was a BX with R-4 tires. Not nearly as good as the B2601 with R-14's I have a hill in my driveway, and I can plow snow uphill even! Thanks for taking time to make the video. Cheers!

Great test! I did a beer similar test years ago with my Carlisle WT300 tires.. both the WT300 and the R14 are a great tire for all around use between your standard R4 and ag tire

That was better than what I expected! Small and hard tires usually do not handle well deep snow. But this tread pattern makes a neat improvement. If ever you want extra traction, try studded diamond tire chains. This is where you multiply traction by 10. No joke. I ran for years a small Bolens (sizeable to a BX23) in the snow with small turf 26-12x12 rear tires. Without chains, I could barely adventure outside the garage in the snow. With chains, I could plow my driveway uphill. Thanks!

I normally don’t go that deep😁 I have a paved Driveway and it is mostly flat here but one day when we move to the Wisconsin property I will remember to get the chains. Thanks for checking out the video😁👍🚜💨💡

Thanks for showing us Mitch. I do like my R4 tires. They work really well in the deep snow as I've shown in my videos as I clear the trails in the back. The snowblower definitely helps though, and the rear ballast as well, but the t14s seem to do fine as well.

@@MJADoingStuff Nah anything with open diffs and equal tires will do the same under the same acceleration and weight. A kubota and john deere equal size and tire size with similar. Horsepower and torque will perform similar it all comes down to traction!! Tires and how many are getting power to them. I was a heavy equipment operator for over a decade and build jeeps i can go wheeling with 20 other similar jeeps besides suspension it all comes down to tires, treads and air pressure as well as axle lockers.

Very nice testing comparisons of the tires 👍👍 I have not added more ballast to my tractor, but the cab adds a good bit of weight

I just used R14 tires on an L2501 for the first time in 10" of snow and had previously used R4.. They work amazing compared to R4 tires. So much difference that I couldn't believe how much better they were. I found that filling the front bucket with snow for ballast helps a lot. I was going up and down very steep driveways without any tire spin that I previously would never have even considered attempting. For reference, I was using an 800 LB snow blower on the back.

Great video Mitch, you got in some good seat time 👍🏻. I think the R14 are very similar to the Versa Turf in performance 👍🏻. FYI GWT showed a cool idea where someone made an curved insert that fits inside the FEL and converts it to a snow pusher, I’m sure with your welding skills you would be able to make one 👍🏻. Hey Mitch. I’m running with turf tires. So far so good. When I’m slipping I drop into 4 wheel drive when I’m using with ballast big big difference. It’s a must. Great info and video 👍

@@MJADoingStuff I have had the Kubota oem Titan turf tires that came on my B7800 16 years ago. They did great in the snow unless it was hard packed or ice in which case I put chains on. I also mow with my tractor and my front tires tread is getting worn. How does the R14 do with mowing? Any big divot problems?

@@campnut6076 Morning 😁 I don’t have to much of a problem on my sod lawn but if I turn to tight in 4WD it can tear up your yard. My hand seeded areas are sandy and show more damage. Those R14 seem like a well rounded tire, i was going to get them on the L series but i didnt have enough patience to wait for them lol. I am happy with the r1 though as i dont use it for mowing or really anywhere to worry about grass.

Hmmm...driving the tractor around in deep snow on a sunny day....sure looks like a fun way to conduct a test to me!!! 👍😎👍 Just to confirm...when you said "Not the diff-lock.." (5:52) I assume that was tongue-in-cheek for "Now I'm using the diff-lock" ?

Yep always a fun time Driving the tractor especially with snow on the ground😁No was just mentioning that I was not using the diff-lock because I was testing the tires. Great video and it looked like a lot of fun to make. Very interesting tests, 4wd and ballast appeared to make a lot of difference. Would you think about tyre chains?

@@MJADoingStuff Did you ever think of loading the rear wheels. I know guys with tractors the size of yours and they say it made a big difference in traction, stability and a smoother ride too. I loaded the rear wheels in my Massey GC2300 and it makes a world of difference. Just sayin'!!! Take care!!!

I like the look of those R14s. I wonder if the sidewalls are any tougher on those than the R4. I have cut the sidewall on two front R4s. I’m going to go with R14s next time. I’ve got plenty of hills and as you saw in my last video, I couldn’t get up my main trail in the last snow.

R4s are terrible in the snow. You'll be happy with the R14s they are radial tires. Not any tougher sidewalls though.

Hey Mitch, still waiting for my b2601 to come in. Have you thought about building or buying a ballast box for the back, or do you think the box blade is enough?

I do have a ballast box that I made out of the the crate our flail mower was shipped in. It weighs about 700 pounds but This year is the first winter with the box blade and I have been using it to help clear snow. The box blade is a little light at 404 pounds but it is better then nothing. I think 🤔 after having both About 600 pounds would be perfect for the ballast weight. In my opinion😁 Hope that helps Congratulations on your B2601.👨‍🏭🚜💨💡

@@andrewmyers7131 ordered mine bout the same time…early Nov. salesman said it would be 6-8 weeks…so I’m still waiting. I guess it is the lift cylinders that are causing the delay. The wait is killing me..lol

Thanks 👍 I run 10psi rear and I believe 22psi fronts. For the front I just go with the max that the sidewall info show. Hope that helps😁👍🚜💨💡

On my LX3310 with the larger R14 tires I get about the same results as shown in the video. The R14 is much better on dry snow than on wet snow. I have chains on my front tires which helps with steering. My first tractor so nothing to compare to. My Tacoma with snow tires will probably do better than the R14 tires.

Personally I have the R4 tires and will never get another one put on any of my equipment that is meant for off road or snow. Those R4 and R14 tires suck for traction and are really made for solid ground around construction sites and places. There are good R style tires for snow but I think the good ole AG tires are better for my needs.

@@MJADoingStuff I am waiting for delivery of my new B2301 with R14s and studs are my plan. Front blower with blade in the back. I’m in Northern Quebec with a reasonably steep driveway (1/4 mile) to the main road. Will report back on my experience with studs.

I have the R4's loaded on my B2601, and you wouldnt have even gotten that far with these POS tires ! Worse tires they could have ever come up with, they are for a bloody skid loader !
