Like most motorcycle riders, you've probably made a list of modifications you want to do or plan on doing. On that list, you most likely have change motorcycle air filter. But shortly after, you start looking up, Which motorcycle airfilter is best, which air filter gives the most horse power or best upgraded air filter for the zx10r. And like most google searches, you quickly find a never ended hole of peoples opinions online. Well, today, we skip all of the "opinions" and get straight to the facts. In this video, we take a 2022 Kawasaki zx10r and test these aftermarket air filters on the dyno. As always, we run a base pull and then dyno tune the bike. This particular bike has a SC projects exhaust and it'll be installed for all of these pulls and test. After that's all set, we swap out air filters to see what numbers each one gives us. We run the stock air filter, the Sprint P08 Filter AND the Sprint P08FI-85 motorcycle filter. Is it really worth upgrading your motorcycle air filter? Is the Sprint air filter worth it? Let's find out!

I've been wrenching a long time, and I love my bike, I've also only used stock air filters. ALOT of people are SERIOUSLY misinformed by these companies and you tube paid dummies on air filters and a lot of other things as well, great video, it's good to see real genuine tuners telling the truth about this stuff.😎😎

Some guys in the car modding community said that manufacturers try to lower the induction noise of the engine because not everyone in their intended market likes induction noise. That's the reason why airfilters are very restrictive and why airboxes have resonant chambers and ducts that create more restriction and to reduce the projection of the induction sound. Of course, the emissions and fuel efficiency, the marketable factors are being prioritized by manufacturers when building their vehicles, cars and bikes. I hope you can dyno a bike without the airfilter, and then without the airbox and then compare/overlay and please include the AFRs. Thanks.

Might be a little hard ro dyno without airbox due to the top injectors being mounted on the airbox but really interesting thing to try🤔

Please test a DNA against sprint, you can visibly see there’s more surface area on the DNA which has to interpret to more air flow. I think that would be a good test to see.

I ran the Sprint F1-85 on my previous bike and did for about 2 months on my current bike. I went back to the OEM stock filter with the metal screen removed which provides performance just shy of the F1-85 but with much better filtration. The 1-2 HP isn't worth the possibility of degrading engine performance over a unknown period of time, and plus I now have a peace of mind knowing that dirt and grit isn't showing up where it shouldn't.

Some people get insanely Vaught up in the air filter debate. It is crazy how people are arguing over 1-2 hp gains but we figured we would at least try to cover it and show the realistic numbers

How was the air fuel comparisons and would there be more power to be had if tuned to each higher flowing filter. I feel without adjusting for the better air flow the comparison isn't very good to show differences of max power you can get. Good if your just throwing it in without making adjustments and dont care

So unless you want max HP, it’s probably healthier for the bike just to keep the stock air filter in the long term

Great info ! I didnt look to hard at the graphs but could any of the tunes with the other filters used any touching up to have gain any more power ?

The affr between the graphs were all very similar. If we did do a touch up it would be less than 1hp of difference really 👍

All sprints were done on the same tune? Do you think you would have found more power if you modified the tune for the different filters?

No there was so little difference in flow you wouldn't need a different tune between them. And I sure wouldn't want the risky free flow F185 on my bike for .08 HP.

I wish you would have used a new stock filter without the screen and compared all. It would have been more interesting. Also where's BMC race filter or is that too cheap to be tested. It used to be the best.

That metal on the filter is designed to dissipate heat. Just an FYI, and I would never let you touch my bike.

It would be interesting to see how a new OEM filter (with the metal spark/flame arrestor screen removed) would compare.. J

A back to back dyno test of a new unmodded filter, and then the same filter tested with the metal screen removed, would be interesting. The above compared to the Sprint filters on the same bike would be of further interest. J

I see how much garbage the ram air on my gsxr1000 sucks in. I don't think I will ever run any of the sprint filters on the street

If you ride on the street, there’s no need for these type of filters , unless you only goal is causing more wear on the engine by the amount of crap is will be taking in.

The differences are so minute, it's basically grabbing at hundredths of a hp. If the air filter was absolutely Caked Up and dirt and mud then that would be a different story

Sprint is not a filter. It lets through almost everything. Few thousand and your engine is stuffed. You might as well run without the filter. Track bike only application where you are not expecting a long life from your engine. One of the most rubbish over rated products on the market where people are not realizing that they will do damage to their engine.
