Thank you Jack.. I so appreciate your clarity and wisdom. I’m going through a process of grieving and closure and it always helps to hear your pearls of wisdom and suggestions. I know time heals all but sometimes the moment is clouded with memories that trigger a sense of loss, feeling confused, betrayed or sadness.

Agreed on staying with the feelings associated with heartbreak. But what if you only have breakup and heartbreak time and time again? Its exhausting and it does feel hopeless, no matter how much inner work I have done. It's so difficult to find smb compatible, mature and committed.

You present an interesting idea I hadn't considered about taking enough time after a relationship not trying to feel better so it doesn't subconsciously hinder future relationships. You're the first person I've heard say that and not try to make me feel something else or instantly be happy. It's refreshing and relatable, so thank you :-)

My guy and I are in our early 70’s. Both of us healthy, attractive and live nearby each other. I’ve come to sadly acknowledge that he “still” needs women to pay attention to him. (I’ve outgrown that need decades ago. ) So I’ve had to walk away before I, having a lot of value myself, became his BURDEN! I figured it out early. I’m not sure he ever will 😿 Thank you Jack. I rewound this video several times. How you can connect with the many thoughts and stages of grief and loss is brilliant. ❤

Brilliant - glad it's been so helpful - that's nourishing for me to read. Yep sometimes seeing things more clearly can really help relax them - and I guess counselling doesn't always tie into deeper inner work.

You are such a precious Soul, Jack. As you were talking, I wept about things that had hurt me many years ago, when my response was anger and I couldn't even say to the person "You have broken my heart." I was so angry that I preferred feeling that than heartache. I specialize in over analysis - so knew that under anger lies hurt, but still refused to weep, yet telling other people "Let your feelings be your friends"! It's taken a lovely man like you to come along and give me permission - So thank you so much x

Thanks Jack, very useful suggestions. In our society, especially in the UK, there's almost a tabu on expressing or fully experiencing negative emotions, which makes the subject of this video even more meaningful and helpful. Staying present in your heart-break and surrendering to it is scary but truly cathartic.

Yes, I really hear you. The problem is that it keeps less intimate with ourselves and future others. We can start to move into a paradigm that is less 'positive' and 'negative' emotions and just welcome what is.

Hey Jack, great to see U!! 🤗 Thanks so much for sharing ur perspective on this topic. I found it very helpful. I do find when I'm "experiencing/feeling" my emotions I tend to get overwhelmed and go in a downward spiral of negative thoughts like u spoke about here. It's scary bc I think I won't be able to feel good again at times. Ur right tho storms always pass eventually. I really appreciate u sharing ur insight on this topic. U made my heart feel a bit better, as if it received a hug. In gratitude~ 🌬🙏🏻💗🙂🙌🏻✨✌🏻

Jack Butler Yes!! That is why I so appreciated this video and it was so profound to me bc I totally do what ur speaking about and didn't even realize it. I don't just feel my emotions but my mind seems to play a short film of sorts to the whole relationship, w/ all the painful details of what went wrong, hurtful words, fear of the loss of him now. I find I have trouble stopping the thoughts, "eating the memories" and just "feeling only my emotions". This video helped me better understand this as I wasn't even aware that I was adding to the heartbreak(unnecessarily). Thanks again!!! 👍🏻 Ur a Wonderful teacher~ 🌬🙏🏻💗☺️🙌🏻✨✌🏻

Wonderful video, thank you. Something that I’ve learned which might be helpful in dealing with grief and heartache, thanks to a great therapist who specialized in EMDR, and from an online blog that I can’t remember the name of....While meditating or just being quiet w/my eyes closed and in a safe place, I’ll imagine my torso/neck/head as a chimney with open louvers along the sides and open at the top (for me it has to be quite literal with nothing blocking any exits lol), then I’ll locate the pain (chest, belly, side, head...), allow myself to feel and honor it, and just notice, without judgement, its path as it moves around then out of me, and on into the universe where it dissipates into nothingness. It feels good, and when gone I feel somewhat lighter having gotten rid of some of the pain that’s been squashed down for decades. Sometimes I even get a bonus of insight.

Jack, my late husband of 40 years passed in Oct 2017. I became involved with an unavailable man 6 months later. Initially it was easy, which gradially turned into heartbreak because I attached to someone who had nothing to give. Now 8 or 9 months in I'm learning...slowly...he has been ghosting me for weeks at a time and I have decided this is the last time. I'm done with him. I've blocked his phone number yet I wonder if I need to actually tell him to his face it's over. Seriously I don't think it will matter. I sense that he probably knows if he doesn't reach me should he ever call again. I am very hurt over his cowardice to be truthful and up front. I suspect I need to just move on without a word. What say you?
