Today we're doing our quarterly update for the 10 best performing decks since April and the game has changed and maybe has a new permanent member. We get to take a look at the results of Thunder Junction, the first month's impact of MH3, and importantly how the powerful new sets have completely shaken up our format. We discuss some honorable mentions, explain why the list has shaken up so much, and talk about how we expect things to look going into the Topdeck Invitational in a meta with a new top tier of decks and Nadu.

People need to spend more time talking about Kenrith with Nadu in the 99. The difference is significant.

Man. That’s hot. Kenrith targeting evolution witness is already a thing; add a nadu and a few pieces and the deck probably pops off. I’ve also been goofing around with food chain in Nadu. Scourge and mist hollow making invite mana as well as infinite targets is pretty great.

I was bout to said that. Also add Activate Skirge Familiar by discarding Life from the Loam, adding b. Bone Miser's third ability triggers, causing you to mill three cards and return Life from the Loam from your graveyard to your hand activating Repeat due eldzria titans shuffle. Bone Miser's first ability add zombie to field that can be targeted by Kenrith g ability helps. Add nadu to your Kenrith reanimated dredge landfall deck. Plus you add the Nercobloom to the list. Don’t forget the seedbore muse also. 38:45

I agree… like how do u practice for the tournament setting? Do u proxy up the popular decks and play them a bit and goldfish them so u can get a feel for what they do? I would need to do that bc that’s how I learn (hands on) if I just read it or a player does it to me on spelltable I don’t maintain the information! Just curious!

Not for cEDH for sure, though Rograkh is pretty popular for those casual voltron decks.

Hey how does Tevesh Kraum win with infinite mana? at first I thought Tevesh could sac himself, but he can't.

Specifically with Hullbreaker Horror. You net infinite mana bouncing mana positive rocks, then begin casting Tevesh over and over alternating between making thrulls and drawing cards.

What do we think about Malcolm / Tana. I'm building it now as my first cEDH deck. I never seem to see it on any lists but it still seems so strong. Am I missing something?

@AreJay2006 still can do the thing and a pretty good choice as a first deck. It's just not popping off in the tournament scene like it used to.

@@LemorasCards do you think the decks popularity is due to there being a lot of other choices or is it more just because there are too many other decks you could consider "strictly better". Thanks for getting back to me by the way :)

@AreJay2006 right now it has to deal with the popularity of faster decks than it, which it can struggle with because it isn't inherently trying to be very reactive, while also handling the slower decks that run lots of ways to deal with creature combos and incidental hate like bowmasters. It can also draw a lot of hate because people don't want to let Malcolm stick out of fear of the combo, so you have to work to protect him both with your spells and your words.

I think im dumb i rebuilt my kenrith deck as a clunky reanimator blink deck with a metric ton of etb trigger( i built it clunky for casual tables i used to run shocks/fetches/triomes, Kinnan, dockside etc. It was way too fast i was already stomping by turn 3 on average)

Tbh I don't agree with something you said about atraxa, your main point is it's less consistent of a commander and you rely more on your mulligans to get you ahead in games. From my gameplay view mulliganing with atraxa is so easy and your card quality is so so high even if you're running food chain and eternal scourge. Sure they're dead cards until you combo but it's so easy to string that combo together with atraxa as a cheerleader. Also since it's more on the controlling side of midrange you can stop other win attempts as well as backing up your own really easily. For those new to cedh don't play Stella Lee, and especially don't play sisay, play atraxa it is so good you can switch your brain off and have a blast

🤔 "big shake ups" it's a bit too much, Lemora - and i love your channel!!- but big shake ups will be when they change the banlist - which will never happen - 😅 tk still outclassing, kinnan still the blackwings of the format - yugioh reference - and najeela exist i think. Cool to see nadu climb the ladder, a commander centric deserves to be this strong to goes toe to toe against the partners. I hope to see more broken 2 colors commanders in the future.

@pippofelipe6901 for one quarter, and really only one month of MH3, it's pretty nuts to see that much change for what has been really solid. Decks like Najeela and Tivit plummeted, Sisay and Rog are making pretty real pushes on TnK dominance, and two new Commanders making the list on release has never happened. We'll see about banlist stuff, hard to predict any of that and right now only thing I think they'd actually touch is Nadu for casual, unfortunately.

Kinnan has been suffering after they printed Bowmasters. If they didn't print that card the deck would have a higher conversion rate. I hate OBM.

@@troybone6849Then every deck would just play the best cards that those get replaced with. Not sure what your goal is, but the best decks will always play the best cards. Period. Getting rid of those would just give you a different collection of cards to complain that you see all the time.

I do think there's a bit more to it than that. The play patterns of Dockside, Rhystic, and Mystic specifically don't really have easy substitutes so even if there are new best cards the game would certainly play out differently. But yeah just banning whatevers good no matter what doesn't lead anywhere interesting.

@@phredlane9081 not true. You're assuming something like smothering tithe or dockside has a 1 to 1 replacement with some less efficient card. Sometimes when you remove a card from the format you will inevitably generate several different responses to its absence.. not 1 singular best option B if A ceases to exist. That's a pretty lazy way to refute what I was adding lol do better

They’re not all the best players. From what I’ve seen it’s the best stallers. Take away Swiss scoring and we will see. Seen, played against, and watched others play against them and I’m not impressed.

Emmm sorry. Wait this is wrong. Stella Lee is not that good. She has a winrate quite bad. She is performing worse than Yuriko. Stella Lee currently has from my calculation 18% winrate. That puts her in a struggling position. Kinnan is also not in a good spot. Better then stella but not among the commanders with the best top 10 winrate.

@cedhtv can't speak to their win rates, but both had a lot of Top 16s, which is the stat we look at. Kinnans conversion rate is definitely pretty low, we'll have to see how Stella fares.

@@LemorasCards Thing is that converstion rate and getting into TOP 16 isen't a good messurement of how good a commander is. A 100 player tournament and a 200 player tournament will have different outcome to it, and other factors to like popularity. In otherwords it is saying nothing. There is an eniter reddit post explaining this. KZfaq prevents me from linking here but if you search for cedh conversation rate you might find it.
