What do you think of MH3 so far? Overrated, underrated, or anywhere in-between let us know down below!
@mattkent5869

Blue flare definitely overrated, Strix Serenade underrated (we are moving towards permanent based wincons), so far chthonian nightmare, flare of duplication, six, shifting woodlands, phelia in sisay, are performing as expected. Against the popular opinion, I suspect that Nadu might now be too much. I play it, seen it being played, it's a good deck that has bad cards in it, and we are living a meta of good decks with amazing cards in them. I think that despite being problematic for casual play, in cEDH people in a non turbo pod might just get used to keep in check Nadu on its first cast, and then focus on the rest of the game. A pod with 2 RogSi in it won't ever worry about Nadu in their pod. Stax effects like Cage demolish the deck. With that said it's definitely viable, perhaps weaker than Kinan in capable hands.

Played my first tournament with the MH3 cards and the set is not overrated as a whole. I played 4 new addition to Talion: Strix Serenade, Volatile Stormdrake, Sink into Stupor//Soporific Springs and Hydroelectric Specimen//Hydroelectric Laboratory. The lands were great to have and Strix never came at the right time, but it's needed in the format. Stormdrake was better than Guilded Drake when I had it, I had to choose between taking a onboard Tymna or waiting for Kenrith to come down and kill it. Most notably, my son had his Ad Naus stolen by Rog/Si casting Flare which they used to counter his and win the game. There was 1 of the 3 Nadu decks in the top 4 of the 86 player event for a Tabernacle.

I’ve been playing Nadu (built from Kinnan) and it’s been a blast. The card is strong of course, but it’s also just a fun way to play. Land strats don’t get as much love in CEDH (for good reason) and this is surprising my playgroup and myself. I think it’s legit.

I've been able to jam a few games vs Nadu so far. I think the format definitely needs to adapt and run more creature interaction. Counterspells that can hit creatures and spot removal are both pretty uncommon in my experience, and that likely needs to change. Cards like Rending Volley kill Nadu, and while triggering him isn't great, delaying him for another turn or two is a lot of times all you need. I do suspect that he'll catch a ban at some point, because while he feels oppressive in cEDH we can just adapt our interaction to handle it, like we did with Winota, in casual he falls into exactly what the RC does NOT want to happen; super long turns with a commander that combos with a ham sandwich and puts you into an overwhelming position way too easily.

Honestly even in the 99 Nadu is a really great card in any Simic deck, like My Kaseto Orochi Archmage buffs my snakes and makes them not able to be blocked and Nadu rewards me for doing what my deck naturally does in the first place target my own creatures with the commander. Like aside from the sheer value it adds to my Tempo deck it makes it way easier to actually win with lab man or swing for unblockable damage so it is one of the few creature cards i would add despite the theme of the deck being snake tribal as it is just so good. Let's also not forget that Green allows you to search for your creatures so you can get Nadu really easy, this card feels like it is a Najeela for Simic especially if you wanted to win with Thassa's Oracle as this just makes any deck with Simic colors way more consistent at least what I believe. I honestly think the RC might keep a close watch on it to make sure casuals don't play this card often as i can kinda see how it could just run away with casual games yet you have other stuff that can do just the same and those are not banned, i think it was said in the past the reason being that casual players don't play those powerful cards often thus the RC allows them to stay unbanned. Also the RC has a unreasonable fear of green cards no matter what considering most cards on the banlist are green. Personally i for one think that if EDH is such a casual format there should be no banlist talk it out with your play groups as 86 cards is way too little to worry about there are way more bigger threats in EDH that could be banned but the RC does not want to do anything unless it is Golos taking over the entire format as people wanna build their decks however they wish and Golos allows that as it is a colorless 5 color commander that allows you to get lands to fix your mana base if needed By the way i fucking hate how color identity works in this format and i will never understand it as it's fucking stupid as color identity only applies to deck building, like if they are really worried about the balance of the format they could easily say color identity only applies to the mana symbols of the card's casting cost and the rest of the symbols on the cards pretty much do nothing if you can't spend mana as though it was mana of any color. Sure that would ruin a lot of decks that would now have to be remade but who gives a fuck the RC only caters towards casuals anyways as EDH is supposed to be first and foremost a casual format Before you ask this is tame as i could point out all the stupid rules RC has or decisions of the format and really go in depth on how they may or may not be a stupid decision as the youngins call yapping for hours to the point onlookers would wrongfully mistake passion for the longevity of the format for hate. Like i already believe that EDH is the most balanced format in magic despite having the smallest banlist that for some reason the RC still thinks of as a Sign post WHEN NO ONE VIEWS IT LIKE THAT. I better stop talking before i get heated again

I built a semi-cedh deck, or just like an 8-9 power level Six deck. His retrace ability reminds me of my Tameshi deck. He does have an infinite mana combo with a land, Lion's Eye Diamond, Groundskeeper. Sadly though, it really only has one out to winning with it and that is Helix Pinnacle.

Nadu got me into cEDH! I love playing green but will admit that it's probably the worst competitive color. Simic gives me that happy mix of broken/fair. I may not have the experience to weigh in on ban discussions, but to hear that some people think it should be banned sounds silly. The deck has to run a dozen or so "low power" synergy cards to even have a chance of keeping up. Would everyone rather us move the power out of the command zone and into the 99 pile? We already have that, don't we? Hypothetically, if nadu is banned and the existing ban list isn't updated to include cards like dockside or thoracle components, I'll probably find a different format of magic to play.

Absolutely hate Strix Serenade. They keep printing super low cost counterspells. By now there are enough of them that blue just chokes out every other color strategy that isn't running blue itself. Since there's also no ban list or rotation the format's gonna get super stale. It's just gonna end up blue core+draw engine+combo in every deck (well it already is with maybe 2 exceptions) and the rest will not really be competitive. Even Legacy is not that stale.

I think it'll take a bit of time to adapt, and 100% is deck dependent. The most popular decks like TnK and Sisay got little to no changes so I think a lot of pods might not feel different, but the consistency of a new payoff in RogSi and green getting reasons to be played I think will be felt as time goes on.
