Burger's have always been known as commonly cheap food. That is no longer the case with gourmet burgers costing up to $15 or more! We can make a fancy burger with our own homemade buns for just $2.

I immediately made this recipe and holy shit. So good. I sautéed some minced garlic after the onions and they got brown and crispy and I added it to the sauce. I think the sauce is kind of basic considering Joshua’s usual desire to make everything from scratch… but it still goes great with the buns and burgers and cheese. Will definitely make it again! Also, if you think you need a stand mixer to make these buns, think again. I made them by hand and they turned out perfectly.

Well. Let’s say you buy buns rather than making them. The sauce is about 7-8 minutes. The beef is around 10 minutes. Give or take 21 minutes of active cooking Making your own buns adds about an hour of passive cooking time.. Add 5 minutes or so for clean up.

I work in a pizza place and where I live anyways a common rule of thumb is that the price of food is roughly 3x the cost of the ingredients. 1/3 for the ingredients, 1/3 for the employees and 1/3 for the owner and store expenses I believe . Granted they get the food in large bulk and therefore bulk prices . And also rent which is either in the employee category or owner which I can’t remember.

This looks lovely (as is all of Josh's cooking). Would *love* to see Josh take on my favourite thing in the world: Bangers 'n mash--considering Josh has made his own sausage, can more than likely come up with wicked mashed potatoes and onion gravy.

as someone who does the grocery shopping, where do you find ground beef at less than $3 a pound.

Idk if you have a Costco near you but they sell a 3 pack of organic ground beef for 21.99, I split that into 6 or 7 freezer bags for assorted meals and it comes out to around $3 a pound that way 🤷‍♀️

@@xoSonyaaaaxo Now THAT is funny. Kirkland Organic ground beef at Costco can be had on sale right now for $79.99 for 12 lbs. That's $6.67/lb. Even the non-ORGANIC cheap ground beef is more than $3/lb. Their 75% angus beef frozen patties, cheapest stuff going, is $3.17/lb.

@@xoSonyaaaaxo it varies highly by region and time of the year. I live in Reno, NV, and I'm surrounded by ranches. Sometimes I can get ground beef for 2.99/lb, but sometimes it's $5/lb. Anything under $4/lb is that incredibly fine grain stuff like what taco bell uses. BLEH

This is posted every other video and doesn't make much sense. Cooking at home is by default healthier than ready-made and healthy goes into so many different directions, but all will have to compromise in some form if you are talking substituting ingredients. You can also have healthier meals just by changing portion sizes.
