A lot of people do the same thing when they ride the Scout, they short change and try and ride it like a Harley. It’s not a Harley, a Harley riding friend of mine rode it and said it was boring and gutless. I told him to go ride it again as if it was a V-rod instead of a Heritage Softail, give it some revs and enjoy. He came back grinning from ear to ear and thanked me for telling him to give it the beans.

That unfortunately also gives Scout a bit of a identity crisis. The engine is a modern, high revving style engine that produces a lot of HP but most of the action happens up high. And yet, it is a custom/cruiser, which are not exactly meant to be fast bikes. Cruisers are either mile munchers for road trips or bobbing around town, both activities benefit from a lot of torque down low. No need to play with gears when you want to do a quick overtake on a highway, you are practically always on the optimal powerband. I like Scout but I understand why some Harley fans may find it an odd bike. For them Indian Chief is a better option. That has the oldschool, air cooled torque monster engine that they are more familiar with.

My first bike is the scout 60 and I don't think I could have picked a much better beginner (cruiser) bike. Whenever I was starting, the power was good enough to keep me calm and focus on the ride. As I got more experience, the bike really grew with me and I learned how to really use the high reving v twin to its full potential and now I can use that power and have a lot of fun. Definitely recommend to those looking for a good beginner/intermediate cruiser that you won't grow out of very fast. Love the videos!!

Have a road king custom and the scout bobber 20. Never had any issues with the harley and it never let me down with 60,000 miles on it. The scout at 1500 miles needed an engine replacement that took them 15 weeks to sort out after rebuilding the engine 3 times, leaving my garage kept bike out in the florida elements. Then at 500 miles on the new engine had an electrical failure 3 hrs from home leaving me stranded in the middle I-95. Now I need the fuel pump replaced because of a recall. Also depreciates in value more than a harley.

I got myself a 2022 Indian Scout Rogue as my first bike. Love her. She is amazing and with the low center of gravity and power band it seems she is a great starter bike and probably the only bike I will need. For saddlebags I bought Endscuoio bags so I could have full size. Yes, the footpeg hits before the exhaust. And I upgraded my exhaust to the Trask Performance slip-ons. Very loud. Saving for a two into one setup. Yes, you have to be very deliberate to go into neutral. Never into it when you don't want it.

Nice review! I’ve been thinking about an Indian scout for a while, but last summer, they were out of inventory. I test rode a Bagger model, but the throttle seemed to have a bit of a lag. I have a 2022 scout ABS. Ordered it new and have 4500 miles on it. It’s been a great bike. Performance with that engine in a lighter bike is a huge plus. It’s nimble too. The seats are good for a stock seat. One negative was the stock rear shocks. I replaced those. But Indian did improve stock shocks in the mean time. Thats one thing I love about Indian Motorcycle Co. They try to be innovative. I got mine with the extended reach seat and for riders with long legs that gives more room if you need it. The Scout ABS has been a fun ride.

Hey a nice review, albeit you didn’t really fully discovered full potential of this motor. Not common for cruisers, It has a split personality and after 4k rpm comes alive in a different fashion. So very approachable before 4K, than surprisingly it feels like there’s a dip in torque, but if you keep going it really pulls. FYI, with the Scout line, you’re likely to scrap the exhaust on high lean right-side turns. Just part of the experience.

Exactly. I call that: analog lean angle warning. It matches the analog speedometer.

Victory Octane became one of Indians most successful bikes. Wish they would have also kept Victory's 4 valve head Freedom motor instead of the Thunderstroke. Seen a 117ci Lloyd build make 136 HP 140 TQ. Still never seen a Thunderstroke sniff that even on a recent Lloyds 126 build. Is the Challenger motor a Victory design or an Indian design? Its doing well.

As much as I want to agree I think it isn't the case. I like the scout a lot, it was my first set of two wheels and I have a lot of memories with it. However, it's got a short range, no gas gauge, and basically has nothing really going for it other than being nice to look at and being a strong water cooled motorcycle. Touring isn't suggested, at all. It's not great for any guy with real size.

I don't have a motorbike. But if I was to buy a cruiser, I would buy a 2015 onwards Indian Scout once I get a full motorcycle licence.

The bike to compare this to from Harley is the new Sportster S. Just looking at the specs you can tell it’s made to be a Scout Killer.

I think it’s a shame the radiator in this bike isn’t more low-key. I think I would rather buy a Harley given the choice.

More low key compared to Triumphs bobber/sm, the new Sportster s/Nighter, the Honda rebel? I think they did well keeping it blended into the frame. It's water-cooled so unfortunately we have a radiator to place somewhere on a tiny bike.

I feel like i scrape the pegs on my indian scout bobber all the time...do you have any advice on correct cornering technique?
@MotoJitsu
@MotoJitsu 6 ай бұрын
they're not made for high speed cornering with their low ground clearance....if you're not already leaning into it (upper body position) start there...if you are and still scrapping, that's just the consequence of that style of bike.
