he can be a surprisingly serious guy. I was really surprised and intrigued when I watched his Hot Ones episode/interview- he seems pleasant enough but is actually quite serious and calm. There's a lot more to him than just the awkward nerdy lead guy typecast. He makes some pretty interesting music as well as having performed in several more dramatic roles in recent years

It's a trope because it's vague and relatable. If the acting and writing is good it will be enjoyable. When it's all bad you get Hallmark movies.
