Vincent Sherry was a judge and Margaret Sherry was running for mayor. Their children were grown and they were spending their later years trying to make change in the world. When they were found dead in their home in 1987, investigators spent years trying to figure out who wanted the Sherrys dead.

Yeah, it's where a state prison is located in Louisiana. A very notorious one, at that. It has a long history that includes a large number of prisoner deaths, prisoners mysteriously "disappearing" from there, decades of prisoners being murdered by guards and buried on the grounds in secret, horrible conditions that you wouldn't leave a dog in, never mind a human, beatings and basic torture and a decent number of prison breaks. Back in the 1950s, a bunch of prisoners cut their own Achilles tendons as a way of protesting the conditions so people would finally take notice. Imagine how bad it had to be for 30+ grown men to decide that permanently crippling themselves was the only choice they had to bring attention to the goings on and get the state to do something about it. Even for many years after (and long before this) it was known as one of the worst prisons to be sent to. Today I believe it is the largest maximum security prison in the US with a large main complex and several outpost type camps. They have a working farm and ranch, where inmates take care of the animals and train horses and care for cattle to be sold. It has it's own airstrip, it's own magazine and is the only US prison to have it's own radio station. It also has a dog training facility. They manufacture farming equipment and tools and every year, it has the Angola Rodeo, which is open to the public. The inmates do all the work with the horses and such for it and those that do crafting such as woodworking, leather crafting and such can set up booths to sell their products to make money to go into their accounts, though if they owe any court ordered restitution, the money they make goes towards that.

And a very notorious one. If you're interested in things like that, you should look up the history of Angola prison. Several books have been written by former inmates and interviews done by various news media. I've seen a couple of old documentaries that either include Angola or are about it itself. Lots of corruption, inmate abuse, decades of horrible conditions, deaths, escapees, etc. It was known as the worst US prison for a long time, mwith even hardened criminals getting nervous when they heard they'd be sent there. Today it's the largest maximum security US prison that has its own working farm, horse and cattle ranch, K9 dog training, manufacturing and services like an airstrip used to transport prisoners.

34:50 What on earth did she go to the Biloxi police department for? Especially knowing that narc officer was at least probably involved? And her father's law partner now being the mayor? That is at minimum a state police department, but more of a case to take to the FBI. Too many locals involved. That's almost a written request to be next on the list or for a sibling to wind up killed.
