I'd just like to point out that the Allosaurus also has one eye that looks to be more pale than the other, possibly meaning its blind in one eye. Andd it happens to be on the side in which it gets shot with the crossbow, so not only is it realistic for it to back off after being shot, but it was also shot in an already injured area of the body, and from a direction it likely couldn't even see. Here's hoping Dominion has more of this animalistic behaviour

T_Rexcellence is a Musuem advocator, he's not a genuine Paleontologist--what makes his efforts acknowledgeable when Universal Executives ignored his advice and designs for B.A.B.R? Secondly, he mentions in the Klayton interview that he couldn't tell the Fallen Kingdom Allosaurus apart from a tyrannosaurid; you cannot respect a consultant's opinion when their expertise is amateur at best. Especially if their aligned with Klayton Fioriti, the piggyback of Paleontological and Jurassic Park knowledge.

Camp Cretaceous is actually pretty good. I mean yeah it is supposed to be less brutal because it's geared towards a younger audience, but it isn't really that bad. You should try and give it a watch at least but anyways, Battle at Big Rock. Aside from the little girl saving her entire family by that crossbow, it was very well done and the more animalistic behavior of the Nasutoceratops and Allosaurus really highlighted that Dinosaurs are still animals and not monsters.

With that in mind, I wonder if the following could have been a decent compromise, to still allow Maisie to go through her existential crisis... Right when Owen and Claire refuse to press the button to release the dinosaurs, Maisie could walk up to the button, get their attention, and demand to know why they are not saving the dinosaurs. With her hand over the button, Maisie confesses that she does not know who she is, after the sudden revelation of her being a clone. She pleads that if the dinosaurs do not deserve to be alive, because they are clones, what would that mean for her: “I am a clone, like them.” In response, Owen and Claire have to reason with Maisie and let her know that having the dinosaurs die in this dilemma, to keep others safe, does not mean that her life is less important. This culminates in Claire saying, “You are still a human, like us”. Despite having other existential questions and still feeling strong empathy for the animals, Maisie tearfully covers the button and leaves it, as they try to comfort her. Poisonous gas is still leaking into the basement, and the two main dinosaurs bashing on the door are Rexy and the Spinosaurus originally grown on Isla Sorna (I felt Fallen Kingdom should have addressed where those dinosaurs were and incorporated them). As a callback to that scene in JP3, it looks like Rexy and the Spino are too weak, they seem to give up, and things go quiet, until they both suddenly ram the door again and finally break it. With only survival on their minds, the T-Rex and Spinosaurus ignore their would-be rivalry and escape together, with the other creatures following them out. Once they are out of the manor and run down Mills’ smugglers, the T-Rex and Spinosaurus take one last glance at each other, before parting ways then respectively going into the woods and the water.

Fun fact: the Allosaurus featured in this short film is based on A. jimmadseni, which has been known since the 1990's, but was finally officially described in 2020. Also, Camp Cretaceous is actually a pretty good show. It focuses a lot on the relationships between characters, them being likable, and is something of a precursor to how people would fare when dealing with a world of dinosaurs. The first three season are great, though the fourth has been met with some ire (I personally thought it was okay, but I understand some of the critique).

Camp Cretaceous is actually a pretty good show, and while you right about the out there stuff like those overused robots. The first 3 seasons are actually pretty solid and with the characters growing out there clear archetypes over time and actually go through hardships, injuries, and near death pretty convincingly. The Scorpius rex from season 3 is what the indomidus rex and indoraptor should have been. The dinosaurs are actually treated like animals. Sure the show still has to abide by the younger rating but it does find ways to push it. You should at least watch as its own thing for a review.

I know the wide action shot takes out from the scene, but it could be interpreted as the allosaurus venting frustration about being unable to catch seemingly easy prey. I’ve seen videos of crocs and tigers both reacting with what only could be described as frustration after failing to kill something or being driven off. Alternatively, it could also be seen as it attempting to frighten them into breaking and running, making them an easier target, something living animals are also known to do

What I love about this short is that Allosaurus is the star. Allosaurus is my favorite dinosaur, so it always saddens me that it's usually portrayed just as a smaller T. rex or sidelined completely in favor of T. rex simply because Rexxie is bigger. Allosaurus literally hunted titans and dinosaurs with murder tails. It may not be the biggest theropod, but it was the undisputed king of its own time period and geographical location. The one thing I would wish was implemented in the new Jurassic Movie would be if it started with the idea that there is a man hunt out for Maisie, Owen, and Claire because a security recording of them releasing the dinosaurs got released into the public which would act as a perfect reason to include them in this movie as perhaps a group that comes to ask them for help can have them pardoned provided they do a job for said group. Which would probably be the best way to resolve the ending of Fallen Kingdom. There should be consequences to actions to the main characters, not just the random and countless people that are affected by this now.

Camp Cretaceous is actually a very good show. Sure, some things about it are ridiculous but not that much, and the kids are kinda annoying when you first meet them, but they grow on you very quickly and they develop as characters and you 100% root for them. It's suprisingly a great show and you should give it a chance, even if season 4 is full of goofy robots. Well with that out of the way, good review of Battle at Big Rock. Yeah, besides that one shot where it poses for the camera, the Allo completely acts like a realistic predator. They really shouldn't have taken the baby to the campsite tho, especially considering that there's dinosaurs walking around the forest.

Me and my little sister watched the video, she loved Fallen Kingdom but the Battle of big rock video scared the crap out of her when the baby was in danger. The short video reminded my about the roots of the first movie.

I got into Jurassic World Evolution 1+2 this year and noticed that they're moving away from the pronated therapod wrists in the games too. Still some questionable design choices in there but I thought it was a nice detail.

It's just a regular Allosaurus, albeit with the size of Saurophaganax and the head of A.jimmadseni. the boxy head isn't characteristic of any allosaur, and is just a random design choice.

Many thanks for posting this review. Not only do we have the same mixed feelings/criticisms about BaBR, but you present them in a much funnier/more creative way than I ever could. 2 more things of note: -1) Any plans to review David James Armsby's "Dinosauria" series? At the very least, it'd be good to compare it to JWD's prologue (I.e. Unlike the allegedly "paleontologically correct" prologue, "Dinosauria" is actually a "paleontologically correct" depiction of Late Cretaceous North America). -2) Fair point about spin-off shows. Also, I get that not everyone can get into 3D animation or children's shows, regardless of quality. That said, I recommend giving CC a try. As a life-long dino/JP fan who's been very disappointed by ALL the sequel movies, I didn't expect to like CC very much, let alone feel all the feels that I felt. Even after S1-2, I downplayed how much like CC b/c I didn't wanna get my hopes too high, let alone expect S3 to go as far as it does. Put another way, remember when you said, "The first [JP] movie had great characters with great interactions and actual ethical discussions"? CC is the only JP sequel I can honestly describe that way, especially in S3. For more of my thoughts on CC, google "SD: My favorite aspects of Camp Cretaceous".

I know this is an old video and not realizing, but despite the trouble Dominion got due to uh bat virus from across the pond, it still set a stand point in the franchise where its more than just an epic conclusion that opens up a lot of potential for miniseries, minimovies and such. Plus, with the set up of Dominion, I would had liked more, like a ranger trail cam in a national park of raptors hunting moose or some elk. Or a bunch of numnuts setting up tents in an area that one is not allowed to set up tents only to get chased by troodons or some small group dinos. Trex or Allos hunting Bisons in Yellowstone, Pachys in territorial dispute with lions, or Kangaroos being humbled. In short, I think the Jurassic Franchise can benefit from this, I would love to see a short film of a raptor sanctuary in some national park and some poachers who are scouting the area or whatever its called because fuck the human brain and forgetting words, but act as students and they slowly suspect the sanctuary owner is feeding people to the raptors, but it turns out that no, the raptors are defending their turf, oh and its hte raptors from 3, the sanctuary is a retirement home for raptors.

I have to say, you should watch camp Cretaceous for a large number of reasons, one it is actually a good show. Two, it's been confirmed cannon by the directors. Three, there is some MAJOR important lore dropped in it. Four, it has been confirmed by the director of Jurassic world domain that he has been working with the directors of camp Cretaceous and the final season's(season five) end will go into dominion's beginning, and through out the movie will have Easter eggs and references to the show.

Do you know what would be a better ending? If the Indoraptor was actually being smart and decided to not chase Macy and actually break the dinosaurs out. I bet that would be a better ending than a girl letting out dinosaurs and not have second thoughts. Yet I can't understand why they didn't decide to set the dinosaurs in isla sorrna. Wouldn't that be better then putting then on human territory? Or at least killing the survivors instead of putting them in prison. Or why Elli Mills said Blue was the last of her kind even though there were velociraptors on isla sorrna.

I think it has to do with the idea that information about the other islands isn't known to the general public and perhaps not even by some staff, much like how the kids didn't realize the ruins of Jurassic park was a thing, likely due to it and the other projects of ingen being kept heavily under wraps.

Speaking of Isla Sorna, I think Fallen Kingdom’s prologue could have easily addressed that, if it incorporated a plot point from the second novel’s ending. It could have been established that one of Masrani’s workers accidentally contaminated the island with the DX prion disease, which began to gradually kill off the carnivores and scavengers. Soon, the herbivorous dinosaur populations exploded and consumed almost all of Isla Sorna’s vegetation, causing its ecosystem to collapse. Isla Nublar has been the only sustainable island left for the dinosaurs, and now its volcano is about to erupt. That way, it could make more sense for Blue to be the last of her kind, Isla Sorna would clearly not be a viable place to put Nublar’s dinosaurs, and the Spinosaurus could even make an appearance (with an explanation that her being a piscivore helped her avoid eating prion-contaminated meat, in time for Masrani’s group to find her and bring her to Jurassic World).
