There were 2 Conan films with Arnold Schwarzenegger....Conan The Barbarian (1982) & Conan The Destroyer (1984). There was supposed to be a 3rd Conan film in the 80s based on Robert E. Howard Conan's novel 'The Hour of the Dragon' but due to Arnold becoming a popular rising action star and the Dino DeLaurentiis company going to bankruptcy, it never materialized BUT Raffaella De Laurentiis (daughter of Dino) kept the film rights to Conan & of Robert E. Howard's other characters. She later would produce 'Kull the Conqueror' in 1997 (with Kevin Sorbo from the Hercules: The Legendary Journeys TV series as Kull), which used elements from the 3rd Conan spec script as well as elements from the Kull story 'By This Axe I Rule' and the Conan story 'The Phoenix on the Sword'. Sadly that movie flopped at the box office (but has since also become a cult favorite among fans of the Conan & Kull characters). ✌️

Marc Singer was the original choice for Connor MacLeod in the 1986 "Highlander" movie. But he was forced to bow out due to scheduling conflicts, so they went with Christopher Lambert. Years later Singer did play an Immortal in the "Highlander" t.v. series in an episode called "Mountain Men" in the first season.

Marc Singer was famously in V (the original, not the stupid reboot) There was a weird idea in '80s Sword & Sorcery (and much later on in 300) that men in pre-modern societies were constantly stripped to their underpants. The board you steer with is called the steer-board or starboard, hence "starboard" side on a boat.

To be fair, 300 was a comic book movie, and in the comic they are ass-out naked through most of it. Director had to wait one more movie before he could have just one butt-naked buff dude through most of the movie.

Hail Mr & Mrs Movies! I was 8 years old when this came out in Australia & when I saw the cover in my local video store I was immediately drawn to it. I absolutely adored this movie along with all the fantasy movies of the 80's, even the cheesiest of cheese ones. The fluro green leeches forced into the ears torture scene stayed with me for quite some time afterwards as did the bird hawk/eagle people with bat like wings consuming their victims as they struggled inside but loved the originality. Loved Rip Torn as the villain & was not until many moons later I was able to separate the role from the actor. Sill have this on VHS (my awesome mum bought this for me for my 9th birthday) & dvd & you bet i'll be adding this my collection of 4K movies when it's released. Marc Singer in this role & starring in V the 80's sci fi mini series made me think he can do anything & in turn gave me confidence to also think I can also anything especially growing up without a dad. Back then I wished I had a dad like him who I thought would be able to teach me to control any fears & head adversity head on like being the man of the house checking on noises outside instead of mum being in danger & even though I was petrified I would think what would The Beastmaster do & knew he'd approve of me being courageous rather than being gripped by fear. Just a side note I do enjoy your posts on FNT, the Real BBC & Open Bar (if not mistaken) especially when a comment is made about reactors as you usually have an amusing reply. Always look forward to both your reactions & many more in the future. Have an awesome day/evening 👍

I have always loved this movie and its first sequel. I was always scared as a kid of the Bat People. When his dog Coto died, I usually cried. But to this day, it is a favorite of mine. Plus, Don Cascorally who created the Phantasm films created this as well.

As someone who enjoyed both V and Beastmaster immensely as a child i always expected Marc Singer's career to really take off at some point. I was kind of disappointed it didnt

I watched this movie at least twenty times as a kid. I like how the used lion sounds for the tiger. I used to have a ferret. It's true that they steal things.

Christ on a bike, I've not seen this since it came out when I was ELEVEN. It really came in handy having an older brother who was a projectionist in a local cinema at the time! I thought this was amazing until I saw Conan the Barbarian... which is a different league of brilliant and the sound track is truly fantastic still. Looking forward to the Conan reaction now!

You should watch Tanya Roberts in ..Sheena: Queen of the Jungle, 1984, it's in the same genre as this film...

Red Sonja is an interesting take on a Conan like story, except the main protagonist is Brigitte Nielsen, in her debut role, with Sandahl Bergman (Valeria in Conan,) as the antagonist, and Arnold Schwarzenegger as supporting protagonist. It also has Paul Smith (Raban in Lynch Dune,) Ronald Lacey (Toht in Raiders of the Lost Ark,) and Ernie Reyes Jr. (Tai in The Last Dragon.) Another movie, considered a bit campy, that has Tanya Roberts in it, is Sheena 84’. It’s a fun take on a female Beast Master.

I love how they just spray painted the tiger black. It reminds me of the pictures I saw of a Chinese petting zoo where they sprayed black stripes on a white donkey to make a "zebra".

So Tonya Roberts played Sheena where she was raised by an African medicine woman to become a Tarzan type of character. Like Tarzan her origin was from pulp comics and novels of high adventure. She communicated with animals. She rides a "Zebra" which was actually a black horse with white stripes painted on it. Or a white horse with black stripes. I can't quite remember. That would be a fun watch
