I vividly remember my first experience with the spider boss. I built the KT-4, destroyed the webs because I learned the KT-4 could do that, and stumbled into a boss fight completely unprepared. I won, but not without screaming my head off and scaring my confused teammates. Zetsubou was bold in adding new things to shake up the gameplay and I still love the map despite it’s faults.

I remember the first time I actually got properly completely set up on this map and was going for the Easter egg and i had to do my last trial and it was to get fan trap kills and when I went to go to the area I needed to go to I saw there was cobwebs blocking the entrance AND I DIDN'T KNOW THE FUCKING KT-4 COULD SHOOT THEM DOWN SO I HELD SQUARE AND DID IT THE LONG WAY AND GOT KNOCKED DOWN IN THE PROCESS when I found out all I needed to do was take out the KT-4 WHICH I HAD UPGRADED i was SO cheesed, and this was only 3 weeks ago😂

Incredible video as always. You are likely one of the few creators in the history of zombies that can give an unbiased take on each map, weighing it for its strengths and shortcomings in a fair and balanced manner. I can't wait for more.

Yea, these videos are absolutely amazing. As someone who didn't like where zombies was going at the time, especially by this game, I didn't play many of these later maps. Watching the last 2 videos makes me regret that a bit. I can see some of these maps' strengths now. I was so much younger at the time.

It definitely feels a lot more refreshing than Tim Hansen's videos, that make me feel bad for not absolutely despising bad maps like die rise. It's just a lot more fun and comfortable to listen to in that sense. I'm interested in the BO4 retrospective's a lot of the other KZfaqrs didn't even bother wasting their time for these, even if they have some interesting aspects to it for example.

I intially didn't like ZNS, but I did come to like it over time. One thing I loved from day one however was the story. That ending cutscene still hits hard emotionally. Also I used Anywhere But Here fairly often as a way to get out of trouble, and I remember being very surprised to find myself in that plane. Also also Tank & Nikolai are very funny in this map

I absolutely love zns. to me, the large amount of things you can do in the map is what I like, since it gives me stuff to do other than just "turn on power" and "unlock pack a punch", it keeps me from getting bored too quickly which I find happening to myself with older/more barren zombies maps. the laundry list of item is actually good for me since it's a lot of simpler things as opposed to weird complex things like how some of the bows are.

This map is one of my all time favourites because just when you think you've worked it out, you dig deeper and find something more. It has secrets on top of secrets. For example this is the first map outside origins that lets you organically (non EE/GG) raise your perk limit to 9, which you can get from fertilised blue plants. You can make the skull last longer by revealing walls in its chamber that tell its story. There is a device in the purple water room that lets you play a hidden song if you activate it in the right order, and so on. To a new player the map feels so much larger because roughly 1/4 of the rooms are only accessible through non-points related actions (and even more if we include alcoves), and the organic weaving together of the map makes it feel like there's a lot more going on out there than meets the eye, if you can only find it. The atmosphere in ZNS is impeccable and it occupies more space in my mind than it probably should. It feels isolated and hidden even in the community, where it's often glossed over, but once you dig deep, it really sticks with you

I think Zetsubou had something that it's counterparts didn't really have. The feeling of scarcity, if you liked to rush all objectives and do everything as soon as possible, you'd find yourself not having enough points to get a gun or open the doors you needed to. I remember being able to open the bunker by wave three but having to kill the Thresher by knifing him (once you learn his attack patterns it's not too hard, though one slip up and it's over) I also liked how it almost felt like a WaW map at times, in terms of visuals. The fake M1 garand and MP40 helped in some way.

This map was a very interesting experience. We did use a guide but I made sure to do my own research and actually understand the plant system. The level of coordination was fun as it went beyond telling each other to input a code. I found the skull specialist more annoying than the plant system as we would have the turn rounds to recharge it when a wall refused to get mesmerized. It was refreshing to do tasks simultaneously without someone having to babysit a zombie and running and gunning with my brother with the Masamune and Marshalls felt so dynamic as they were powerful but not as braindead to use as the thundergun or origins staffs. I wouldn't play it often but the map is definitely over hated.

I like this video but I’ve gotta correct you here. The KT4 is not a chain reaction weapon, it’s an area of effect. Any zombie that steps in the green pool will die, no matter the round. It will always take about one second and while they are in the pool for them to die and while they can still block your path, they cannot hurt you. It’s a slightly slower ice staff effect that lasts a little shorter. The KT4 absolutely can be a get out of jail free card, if you charge it up when you think you’re in trouble and shoot the ground.

After playing this map with my friends I can say this is the silliest Easter egg goal. With Shadows you have to undo the things you did, DE you have to open Dempsey’s pod by doing tons of different steps, in Korod Krovi you have to destroy the dragon to get to Nikolai. In Zetsubou you do everything to……..turn on an elevator 😂

To me, as a solo player, the lead up from black ops 2 easter eggs into 3 were so interesting. You could tell that they had the inklikg of allowing solo players to complete waster eggs, but theh didnt really fully comit until DE, but i think that on ZNS they took that a step further, because to me it always fel like solo was almost the Intended way to experience ZNS which really thematiclaly ties in to the whole "fighting yourself" thing this map made me feel so strongly. Having not 1 but 2 bosses also just really made it feel like an actual adventure to get through the egg. For that ZNS will always be my favorite map, it just felt like no other egg ever really catered or lent itself to a solo run so well

Zetsubou was really the only BO3 map to get hate from the masses/majority of players (still a minority of players) when it came out. I never understood the hate. There is SO much content in this map. Very cool and unique wonder weapon, multiple boss fights, side easter eggs. Der eisen drach is one of my favorite maps of all time, but its incredibly simple and easy. Zetsubou content wise is better because it has so much to do.

This is my all time favorite zombies map because of its complexity. When I was younger I really didn't know what zombies was going to become, I was just a little kid that played either tranzit or Nuketown until the next DLC released (i actually played bo1 during its lifespan but i had it for the wii so i only had kino, and at that point i didn't know what a DLC map was). Origins was the first map for me to sit there and learn what zombies could potentially become, something more than a "Hit The box grab a few perks and survive" experience When bo3 released it definitely pushed the quests to an entirely new level, and it gave me an entirely new appreciation for the idea of doing these different things to set up properly, rather than spend 20K Points on perks/pap and a little RNG with the box. The setup felt rewarding, and the complexity makes it worthwhile This map is no different. Now I'm an Xbox player so I didn't play this on the day it officially launched, so I didn't get to experience all the game breaking bugs that the map was filled with, so I never had to feel all that negativity towards it when I first played. The new plant system felt fresh, something we've never seen before, the new swimming mechanic, the KT4, the swampy eerie asthetic, the spore system. It all felt integrated with one another, and wouldn't work as well without everything else which I love. Taking out a feature from this map won't make it better, but take away from the integration of other features. Easter egg is fun, seting up is complexual but also fun. I know some people don't like dark maps, but it works well in this

I think what may be a problem for Zetsubou is that while it is super complex and has a lot to do... there wasn't a lot to tell you what you could actually do. Like yeah, you could upgrade the KT-4! But first, you need to know that the Skull can actually reveal fake walls and there is one specific wall to open at the end of a long underwater tunnel. Then you need to know that you have to plant the seed there to get the part, but it uses one specific water type. And to get that water type, you have to use that tunnel fast travel and hit X just right at the moment to get the rainbow water. And with a step in the ee, I think while the gimmick of needing a specific gobblegum is neat... it also makes a problem. If no one loads into the map with it, then you are absolutely unable to do the easter egg because you need that part. Plus I don't recall if there is anything in game to tell you that you would need it. Sometimes, it did feel like a chore. It is absolutely more of a thing about that era of Blundell zombies. Sometimes, he would make some nice easter eggs and they weren't toooooo complex in nature. Then other times, it would be ridiculous to assume any normal player would know that they have to shoot gravestones to start an easter egg.

big fan of the channel!! anything cod zombies is usually my go to for background noise and I’ve probably watched all of your video breakdowns at least 2 or 3 times by any means I hope this doesn’t come off the wrong way but IF you don’t mind me asking, isn’t this video breakdown of ZNS a bit of revisionist history? It’s possible I missed the parts where you mentioned any negative aspects of ZNS but imo most of the features you spoke positively about were also the exact features people weren’t a fan of the map and why it was perceived so negatively from friends/what I saw on reddit, a lot of people didn’t like the thrashers or the flower pods or having to water them or the challenges and having to complete all of them to get the lightning or having to use the anywhere but here gobblegum or the spores on the wall or going underwater AND a few of the other aspects you spoke highly of. again, great video on the positive highlights of ZNS. personally think ZNS is a badass/fun map while simultaneously being one of the worst maps of all times hahaha
@whitecliffgames
@whitecliffgames 11 ай бұрын
Definitely, some very valid points! I try to hit a balance in these videos between talking about the general fan sentiment, and talking about how I personally feel, so there's two viewpoints mixed in there that don't always agree. I didn't mean to try to gaslight the community LMAO so super fair to point out when I don't do a great job differentiating which viewpoint I'm talking about! Yeah, a lot/most of the community totally hated things like the thrashers or the challenge requirement, and still do to this day. And I do try to call out things that I agree aren't great, like the plants being tedious or the power process being too much. But overall, just in my personal opinion, a lot of the other stuff really makes the map work and people tend to look at it the wrong way. Just my opinion again, and yeah you're right I think I'm in the minority on this map especially! Thanks for the callout, and thanks for watching!!

Zetsubou isn't that complex, if you get lucky with the right set up, you can literally complete the whole easter egg in maybe under an hour give or take a few extra minutes if you're not doing it solo and to account for actually finishing rounds up to 13 or 15. It's that easy, it's not complex when it's story is that short. To put it in perspective, the giant's easter egg (the one to get the annihilator pistol) requires you to do way more and even revelations with shopping free takes longer.

I thought unwatered plants only had a chance to grow at the end of a round & have a chance to receive a random water(or no water) if previously watered. Similarly you don’t need to water seeds for the imprint plant & can just shoot them from afar with the kt4.

My third favorite map of all time, just behind Blood of the Dead and Voyage of Despair, and *just* in front of Dead of the Night and Tag der Toten. I'm a BO4 homer at heart (and I really hope you'll be covering those maps with the level of care you've given the rest of the series), and ZNS is the closest thing in BO3 that scratches that itch. It feels like Jason Blundell really got let off the leash for a map like this, to be unashamed of its complexity and intricate systems, its dense and stunning map design, a wonder weapon with high power and high ceiling for player skill expression, and a flurry of Easter egg steps that make those of us with a mind for these things happy to go back, replay, and micromanage our games down to a fine point.

This comment hit me…I remember I skipped school just so I can get the physical copy of the game on launch day and play zombies with my friends, we had so much fun playing all the zombies maps…when I reminisce “the good old days” it’s DE and ZNS with the boys and the unique moments we had, truly the best era for zombies and I’m glad I had the chance to experience it at its peak…nowadays I try playing zombies out of nostalgia but my friends have moved on from zombies and it just doesn’t hit the same playing with random people

I was wondering where the videos have been. But I realized for some reason your videos haven’t been showing up in my sub box for some reason. I had to search up the channel. Weird

I've been playing Zetsubou lately, doing the Easter eggs on pc with my buddies. Never understood the hate for zets but it is a pain in the ass to play. Still a great map though.
