Got sidetracked. Light rack.something like 10 ozs. Earlier ones had problems I’ve heard. Ran into a guy at a LGS the other day that was picking up 2nd one (I think)but after 3 sendbacks & supposedly being 100%with multiple ammunition brands. Highly recommend them. They feel & even sound like a good mix of materials & physics. If that makes sense.?.take care & later on.

This gun caught my eye right when it was released. Coincidentally released when I started shopping. Don’t have one yet. Bought a LCP II 22 on a whim. It’s running like a top. No cleaning yet. Over a brick through it. No problems that are the guns fault. Regular rim fire ammo issues. I am going online to see if I can find one of these now. Can’t remember msrp but agree with you that it’s better that too 2 selling right now. Have been tempted by some heritage s that cost closer to 100 than 200. Out the door. Low on permits right now,CCL expired so dk what I am going to do. Mainly waiting on the tide to turn on the whole industry. I have a feeling there’s going to be a bunch of 2nd hand like new guns on the market eventually. Just a feeling. Time tells all tales. Your dads gun…they are sentimental as can be. My father had a sudden heart attack in 94 .56 years old.his dad died of same,56also. I had a S&W 22 that was probably my grandfathers. Almost remember that conversation but not quite. Nice one though. 1st handgun me & siblings ever shot (& most of the neighborhood kids. ) I accidentally left it in a girlfriend’s trunk years ago & I lost touch with her. I might see it again one day but not holding my breath. Enjoy the plinking. I’m going to. Going to try to get just 22LR to save a few bucks if it’s an option. Later. 22 light rack ruger..I know it is apples and oranges BUT I was lugging a 1952 standard or 1st model around the woods in a shoulder bag. Single strap teardrop shape deal. Very accurate but heavy & like that S&W I misplaced,most likely worth some $. The Mia trunk revolver..never carried it in a holster either. Always kept it in a gun rug. Beautiful gun.

picked one up, looked at 2, both had a lot of gap between the cylinders and barrel, but so did the wrangler beside it, my heritage has almost no air gap. so far only fired magnums thru it, less than 50 rounds and its getting sloppy

I shot the Diamondback Sidekick at 2022 SHOT Show Industry Day at the Range in January. I also own a Heritage Rough Rider. The sidekick is a nice revolver, shoots well, but the trigger is absolutely horrible in double-action as you mentioned. Hard to pull, hard to stage. Single-action, it's great. I own a Ruger LCRx in .22WMR, and it has a far superior trigger (but you pay for it). Nice review!

I bought one today for my wife, great gun for her and low recoil, I got her an M&P 9mm EZ and went brand new to service UGH.

I love my 2 Heritage.

I just bought one yesterday and there's a big warning label in the box that says dry firing will void the warranty. I already knew that because dry firing any rimfire gun will dent the breech where the pin hits it, and that leads to light primer strikes (misfires) later.

The Sidekick is a replica of the Hi Standard Double nine Linghorn. I own one mfg. In 1960.

Congrats on passing 40k subscribers. That’s a pretty sweet little revolver but $400 is kind of steep. That’s more than I paid for my Ruger LCRx in 22LR

Hey, I just bought one today and am gonna shoot it on my farm tomorrow. This gun is way different than the Heritage. I absolutely love my heritage, but I like the double action feature, along with thr 9 shots for the farm critters I may come in encounter while outside working. How is this hitting out of the box? I had to file my front sight and rear notch on the Heritage to get it dead on. Now it is hitting a 9" steel at 50 yds as much as a 2" @ 10 yds. Thanks for sharing. I love all the nay sayers every time something new comes out! It is good to hear everyones opinion and concern, though. I will say the gun is built like a tank, much better than the Heritage and similar to the Wrangler, but with more features.

Copy of the High Standard Double Nine Longhorn. Wrangler grips will fit, and the H&R 9 round speed loader will work.

Bought one. Never got to shoot it. Locked up solid on the function test. A little fiddling and, would work again then lock up again. It also had like a 20lb trigger pull before locking up. Sent it back, never to be seen again.

Oil that side kick might help trigger pull. enjoy my rough rider has the safety.

This one interests me. What concerns me in the construction: the frame is zamak. The crane looks kinda skimpy too. I don't know how that would last. I do like the number of rounds it can carry. I did just order a Super Wrangler. Steel cylinder frame and a magnum cylinder.

These are not dry fire safe. It says in multiple places that dry firing will void your warranty

The idea of this gun is awesome but I just bought one on the 8th of April and shot 9 rounds throught it and now malfunctioning hammer will not pull back trigger will not work will try to pull it. Diamond back failed on this gun.

Watch the adds for this gun. I just bought one from a major company/reseller and did not notice that the gun only came with a WMR cylinder.

Regarding dry firing this firearm, it’s perfectly safe! I own one of these and here’s a quote directly from page 8 of the manual: “Because cylinder chambers are counterbored, the revolver may be “dry-fired” without injury to cylinder.”

To clarify. The guy at the stores only major complaint ,really,,was that he’d been keeping meticulous video records of malfunctions .a ruger tech may have told a fib when he said he had fixed it (2nd return…ruger picked up the shipping ect. )the fella politely requested a refund & a higher up employee called him and asked him to try 1 more. I’m betting it will run like a singer! I don’t make kydex holsters but going to try my hand at it with the little 22 LCP. Thinking owb,maybe ulticlips xl’s, or something quick on & off. With 4 extra mags. All connected with a little flex between the parts where needed (small pieces of leather.?.)all 1 piece as light as everything is. Probably wear it at 3 o’clock but anywhere on the waist line ought to be ok & disappear under a untucked shirt. Fun gun & 51 rounds on tap. Good for camping ect. I’m not a snake killer or anything..unless I am in the mood for snake & rice,but a gun is a comforting thing. We live in the sticks of nc. Beautiful but you would not believe the things that ppl have showed me on trail cams. Eastern wild cat black panther looking thing. Dk if it was a n exotic pet released or what but I have jumped one that got up with a dozen or so white tails 7-8 miles away from the trail cam footage. Same month. & some bears,coyotes,bobcats..all that mess and only twice did I need a gun but didn’t have one. 1sts time,obviously sick raccoon. Appeared to be neurological/rabies maybe.?. Tried finding itt try but it was staggering away too quickly. It actually got somewhat aggravated when I approached it to whack it with a 1/2,rotten pine limb. I decided to retreat .2nd time,pit bulls on the loose. Had been dumped. They did not try anything thank goodness. Think a neighbor poped them. They weren’t the cutest pups nor did they have a friendly vibe. Warning shots are good enough for the most part. If you ever even need that. But plinking. Love it. Best to date sound w 22LR rifle. Pretty large water heater at 80-100 yards. CRACK & then a Cool thudish thump sound. Can’t wait to build a tricked out suppressed 22. over& out.

Of course there's no comparison, comparing an SAA clone to an SA/DA revolver is just silly, compare it against S&W SA/DA revolvers, now there's a valid comparison

that is a direct copy of a Hi Standard Double Nine which was a great revolver. In a side kick the eject rod is useless, so to keep the western look they made it push forward to open the cylinder. Great designing. The finish is ugly. Maybe blue and or nickel in the future.

Not really a budget as it's $290. I just got a Rough Rider for $140. Still in my radar though.

The Sidekick is head and shoulders above the Wrangler and Rough Rider. It's a double action multi caliber pistol. If Diamondback would put an adjustable site on them...They would be perfect. The Sidekick is like the High Standard Double Nine.

One of the only people to say this is a good revolver. Doesn't even own a Wrangler. Thinking someone got some kickback from diamondback since the revolver is doing so horrible in the reviews. Definitely isn't worth the price they want until they get the bugs out. Which should of been done way before releasing it. Not hard to be better than the worthless taurus.

There's no doubt the diamondback is a very nice pistol, HOWEVER comparing it to the rough Rider is not even close to an accurate comparison. The Heritage rough Rider is a replica 1873 Colt Army side loader single action a completely different animal ,. And it's as close as you can get to having a PIECE of History in your hand . Used by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders that rode from Williams North Arizona down to Phoenix every year to be in the Scottsdale Prada del Sol parade which was a hundred year traditional ride of the toughest Real Cowboys in the country. Just SAYN.

Heritage all the way! I have 3, 2 wranglers and 1 Sidekick. The sidekick is my least favorite, horrible sights, will hardly eject 22 mags at all, and feels cheap vs the others.

The finish looks pretty rough for a 400 dollar gun. Just saying.

I emailed the company to ask, "Where are they?" He said they made 500 for the initial run. That's ridiculous. That's 10 per state. They're not a serious gun company. 500 would just cover sending 1 to all the reviewers. A shame. Might have been fun.

I just watched a test shoot between the Sidekick, Wrangler and the Heritage and the sidekick was not very accurateand the Heritage won the shoot off!

I will never understand why most youtubers like to talk so much about themselves instead of making a short opening statement/introduction, show the weapon, quickly describe its features, its plus and minus and perhaps do a short shooting demonstration. When you guys start rambling, rest assured your viewers move on. Just saying ... 😉
