I believe that Outboard Emissions Laws introduced in Australia ( taxes for exceeding ) forced the manufacturers to stop selling two stroke engines to the leisure market. I think this happened 2020 or 2019?

I've heard when searching for a cruising boat, you should first find the dinghy you want, then buy a boat to fit that dinghy.

Willa at the end is so similar to my daughter at that age. So many memory's of her and my Father in-law in his 16 foot Lund with his 25 hp Yamaha. Out fishing on our little lake early in the morning. Enjoy all the adventures . They happen so quick and then there grown.

Two strokes are so simple to work on. I was tearing my 1974 MX dirt bike engine down completely and rebuilding when I was 14. You just have to remember to mix the gas. The smell of Klotz or Castrol oil burning is a fond memory.

I just picked up (well a month ago) a used Avon rip with a 10hp NIssan Marine on the back. It's fibreglass, but it's a deep V. This is such a step up from my old soft bottom it's not even funny. I could only imagine what your new dink is like.

Bonjour my fellow Canucks! 🍁 Winter is finally dissipating where I am as the smells of spring and camping return to my nose and memories, one of those being endless days on the lake with the 2 stroke. Eventually got the 4 stroke and love it except the bugger is so darn heavy. So when you return to our side, I guess you’ll have to get a 4 stroke again or? I was so loving the embroidery before you brought it up so glad you did! The rubber duck looks great and Highfield speaks for itself. With the V, is it harder to beach/unbeach? Aww that moment where Daddy was holding Willa’s toy and then she made that giggle as she took it reminded me exactly of my girls back then. And mine loved to nap on the small boat as we sat and fished! I love seeing these moments again. Just utterly precious. Thanks for the great content. I really look forward to them! Ben, You're wrong bud, Evinrude makes pretty much ONLY 2 strokes, we brought a brand new Evinrude 30hp last year in Kelowna, BC, Canada. Direct injection 2-stroke..... EU 5 star environment friendly rated, amazing motor. We also have a Highfield 360. The 30 Evinrude brings it on a plane with 6 people in it. We had a Yamaha 2 stroke for years, the Evinrude is just more refined in our opinion. That yamaha is a great motor though. Unfortunately Evinrude is going out of business. Keep the videos coming, glad you're back.

Four strokes are so heavy. My 9.9hp 4 stroke Mercury was heavier than the 18hp 2 stroke I replaced. Someone told me a 9.9-4 stroke weighs as much as a 25hp 2 stroke.

G'day Nahoa, Willa's getting so big. Her laugh is absolutely adorable 😀😄 I reckon Highfield makes great dinghies mate. I've owned both Achilles & Highfields, and they're both amazing boats! You got a really nice setup, ~ Congrats. I personally prefer 4 Stroke engines mate, just my preference. Highfield's are very reliable, comfortable, and cut through water like a scalpel. I currently have a Highfield CL380 FCT (console) with a Mercury 30 hp, 4 Stroke EFI......easily, the best outboard motor I've ever owned. She's a ripper. They're bloody fun! Been running the Yam 40x Enduro for the last 13 years, never missed a beat and actually not too bad on fuel as long as you don't go WOT. Most reliable and easiest to service engine I have ever owned, and won't find me changing to a 4 stroke any time soon. Reliability, safety and simplicity are king in the marine world!. Make sure you run your engine in slowly and fully and she will keep going for decades. I love your new dinghy by the way!

I can tell you I have a 2 stroke Yamaha 9.9 hp remove the reeds only and change them to 15 hp reeds and it just became a 15hp. That is the only difference between the 2 models and parts are identical except for the reeds ,oh and the price Yamaha pulling a fast one

As someone in the USA that husband and son used to ride dirt bikes the 2 strokes rock! They are faster and so much easier to work on! My husband got a bass boat and went for a older one just because of the motor. So much more power and easier to repair!

Make sure you tie that engine to the dinghy!!! I’ve been in many situations where my coworkers have lost engines off of the same Skiff (3 I think). We always tighten it as much as we can but they always find a way to fall off so now we tie them to the boat. Make sure you guys do the same because redundancy is better than no engine!!!
